RE: "Extra-planetary" travels? Interesting!
@Lethality you're guessing right! Not only each planet, but also each region within a planet, has its own unique distribution of resources. Since there is no global banking and no global marketplace / auction house, it's up to the players to physically move resources around. Travels between planets are possible - we're talking magical means here, not sci-fi - but how easily they can be performed depends on your race, from the planet you're in, and from the destination. This is one of the first things we'll be covering in our upcoming dev journals so stay tuned!
@Rofus there are only 3 main planets, but there will be other regions in space you'll be able to visit: asteroids passing through the solar system! They'll be suitable for experienced players and one of the main stages for large-scale guild battles

RE: Kickstarter Update - Stretch Goals Revealed
@holyhong said in Kickstarter Update - Stretch Goals Revealed:
If I remember correctly, they stated that stretch goals won't implement core mechanics to the game, but aren't fishing and (especially) animal taiming/animal training core features which change gameplay for a lot of people? For example, for someone who plans to create a business with (tamed) animals/pets.
The fact a feature can have a significant impact on gameplay doesn't make it a core feature - otherwise literally anything cool would be a core feature, right?
A core feature is something necessary for the game to work, and/or something that truly "defines" the game. Survival elements, resource gathering and transportation, crafting, building, player-run towns, governors, town wars, guilds, the knowledge system, environmental effects, the three races and planets, these are core features. Fishing and Animal Taming are content
@grofire we're getting a lot since we've published the goals actually!

RE: gear system?
@reaper said in gear system?:
SO was wondering what the loot system shall be (talking about rarity types and if there's going to be "unqiue" items) also, how high can you level? guessing it hits a max after like 500 hours of playing lol...
The item system of Fractured strongly empathizes equipment replaceability, so the average armor or weapon will be made of common materials and it will be easy for a player to craft a whole new set if he loses his own - or to buy it from another player, of course. The geographic distribution of resources will play a big role in this - a material might be common in a region of Tartaros but "rare" for you because you live on Syndesia and hell there are really a few merchants who dare to go THERE to trade or gather - and if they do bring back some, they sell it at 20 times the price it's found at the local market. That being said, there will be bosses, rare resources and rare items, but they are not the core of progression in Fractured. You aim will be to learn as many things as you can so you can vary your build as much as possible, and to have a steady supply of materials (not only for crafting - food as well!) for your everyday life. I'll be bold and say Fractured's progression is really something different from anything you've seen so far
As for "levels", there are no levels in Fractured, so the right questions could be "how long will it take me to learn all the abilities and spells and proficiencies against different families of creatures". The answer is: hundreds and hundreds of hours, but that's a misleading answer, since to collect all of that is your personal choice as your character will be already competitive on day one.

RE: Foundation Top 100's Top 10.
@HolyAvengerOne @Holya @Mata @Lomacil @GamingIce @StarDust @Logain @Lohen @chrightt @Vengu @ryota1382 @warhard @Firefiite @tulukaruk @Rofus @Mazikar @JesseJane @00 I'm tagging you all since you seem interested in how to rank well in The Foundation.
First of all: there is no way to "game The Foundation" - all the existing quests are in front of your eyes, and they're really simple! The only way to "cheat" is to create fake accounts to complete all the referral-related ones. However, fake accounts are very easy to identify, and we end up flagging a few as such almost on a weekly basis. Once flagged, they no longer accrue points to the referrer.
In the next iteration of The Foundation, we're going to make it so that accounts flagged as fake are kicked out of The Foundation entirely and the abuser is notified that happened when he opens the website.
That being said, if someone is gaining a lot of points (which are not explained by social and news-related quests) there can be one reason only: this person has referred a hundreds of accounts (not hard for some people, especially streamers/youtubers/journalists), or has referred dozens and those ended up very engaged and got a lot of levels. I said "has referred", not "is referring", because it takes months before an account reaches level 10 by passive points alone... so it takes months before you reap the rewards of your contribution in growing the Fractured community
Speaking of passive points, they are a nice perk to give as reward, but they have the major drawback of allowing never-active accounts to slowly gain levels. By never-active I mean accounts of players who have confirmed their email address and never cared about Fractured again - never opened a newsletter, never read an update, never opened the forums - nothing at all. If those accounts didn't exist at all, it wouldn't make a difference for us (and for you). I'll discuss the matter with our designers and some changes might come in the next iteration of The Foundation there too.

RE: Feature Spotlight #7 - Towns, Governors & Politics
@Dybuk @thudaron the current plan is one house per character. It could become one house per planet per account if needed (so 3 max per account)
Guilds can control multiple cities, but unless they're large guilds (100+ players), it's not a great idea. Much better to focus on a single one. And no, a player can be the governor of one town only. Trust me that's already a lot!

Forum Downtime 2017 Dec 13-14
Hi all,
as you know all too well, the Fractured forums have been offline for over 1 day (and just recovered) from a tragically failed update. We'd like to apologize for the prolonged downtime - that was really unexpected for us too.
During the downtime, we've changed server settings so that if such incidents occur in the future, you'll be automatically redirected to the page tracking the status of all Fractured services:
As a gift for your patience and dedication, we've also decided to add 200 Foundation Points (1 Level) to all existing accounts!
Since we're aware some of you were alarmed seeing your total experience in The Foundation fall (as you didn't know it was temporary), we are changing the system so that it uses cached values instead of fetching them at runtime from the forums if the latter is not reachable. No more scares!
See you soon for the next update!
Best,

Kickstarter Is Over! What's Next?
Hi everyone!
Our Kickstarter campaign is over, and itโs been a success. It started with a massive wave of pledges on day 1 and ended with an equally awesome push in the last 2 days. Eventually, weโve hit the goal, and even got over 10% overfunded.
Even better than the pledges collected, thereโs the fact you were always there to sustain us with your enthusiasm, passion and feedback. I know itโs a very predictable thing to say, but we would have gone nowhere without you.
Thank you once again, and letโs see what comes next!

Haven't pledged? Want to upgrade, but not sure yet? Tell us why!
Hi everyone!
The Kickstarter campaign has started with a boom, and we have celebrated that. Now it's time we ask ourselves the question: what could have we done better? What can we improve during the campaign?
So, without further ado, a simple question for all the people who haven't pledged yet, or who are thinking about raising their pledge tier but aren't convinced yet.
What's keeping you from pledging or upgrading your pledge? Some game feature that worries you? Other features you'd like to know more about? Or maybe you don't feel trustful enough yet and prefer to wait for testing to be running?
We'd be so grateful if you let us know, so we figure out what updates to prioritize and we can try to clear your doubts!
Thank you!

RE: Two Words On Reporting, Leaderboards & Pre-Alpha. I'm tired.
@Vicious the matter is being investigated, don't worry. We'll take the appropriate actions if needed, as we have done with other people. What will be done and when is a private matter between Dynamight and the alleged dishonest user though, so I'll reiterate for the last time: please stop bringing this up on the forums.

RE: Alpha 1 Map & Pledge Integration
@tulukaruk said in Alpha 1 Map & Pledge Integration:
and a question - are mines like real world mines or more like dungeons?
Both - they have an outside area, and a dungeon-like area Although it's possible the early phases of Alpha 1 they'll have the outside area only.

As for the account guard, a good thing, but first key expired for me, when i got second at the green box was the text โVerify your Emailโ and the code was on bottom of Mail just black of white text. I guess the formatting of it is not polished. @Prometheus, i can send a screenshot later about, but want to proof first if my mailprogram not just did mistake, need to investigate sourcecode of the mail.

It was a bug and now it's fixed, thanks for reporting it I've also raised the code expiration time from 10 to 15 minutes.

RE: Two Words On Reporting, Leaderboards & Pre-Alpha. I'm tired.
@sparky said in Two Words On Reporting, Leaderboards & Pre-Alpha. I'm tired.:
What Vicious did was it, right? Yes, most cheaters get shamed in the public and they have to take it what comes to them.
No sparky, it was not right. It created a mess over what turned out to be a dozen fake accounts, not even leveled up and of no particular use.
It created a ton of drama and negativity over nothing during a critical moment such as our Kickstarter campaign, which is something we want to disincentive as much as possible if it goes outside the boundaries of in-game guild vs guild competition. There's been people who got 50+ blatant fake accounts flagged at once. Active members of the community. No one opened a forum thread to "shame them" and start a flame war, and we won't accept any more of this. I hope I made myself clear.

RE: Bit worried where the Kickstarter is
@Canterbury @Esoba the MMO news portals have given us some good coverage, mmorpg.com and massively in particular. More generalist videogame portals haven't. Of course it's also our fault, we don't have a PR agency nor a dedicated PR person, I take care of that and I'm definitely not the best at it. We should have promoted better, but it's no use to cry over spilled milk, also considering that we're going to make it!

RE: Porting Test Weekend & Alpha 2 Update
@grofire said in Porting Test Weekend & Alpha 2 Update:
do it in November 16 my b-day
That'd be cool but... we can't start a testing phase on a Saturday eheh
@Esher said in Porting Test Weekend & Alpha 2 Update:
Congrats ^^ Hope they'll not change the version again and that you'll have to do everything again ! Now you can rest a bit ^^
Nah, that's never going to happen again
@Jetah said in Porting Test Weekend & Alpha 2 Update:
dont forget to announce it on Kickstarter. even if it's just a small paragraph then a link to the news post!
I haven't forgotten this time, I swear! I just couldn't find the time to do it yesterday evening
@Logain said in Porting Test Weekend & Alpha 2 Update:
Would you be willing to provide rough statistics of before and after for the server(s) when the tests are complete, so that we can see the rate of improvement?
And when would you decide on and announce the 'additional' testing weekends?Servers were stable and resource (CPU, bandwidth, ...) load was low before the porting already, we're not expecting an improvement there. What we expect is 0 reports "I can't launch", "I can't login", "I keep disconnecting", and the like. We'll have a forum post dedicated to that and push everyone to report there, then share the results

GamesCom Here I Come! And You?
Hi everyone,
GamesCom 2018 is approaching, and I'll be there as trade visitor from Tuesday 21 to Friday 24 (August)!
I guess a few of you will be there too. I'd be glad to meet up for a chat while I'm not busy talking with some publisher and so on. If the presence of Fractured fans is substantial, we could organize a Fractured dinner too perhaps.
So, just leave a post here if you'll be at GamesCom, and let's see how that goes!
Cheers,
Jacopo
A side note. I know, you might have wanted to try out Fractured at GamesCom, but it's a tad too early for that. We were also too focused on the Kickstarter campaign to set everything up to become exhibitors. We won't miss that next year!

RE: February 2020 Open Playtest
@Logain said in February 2020 Open Playtest:
I'm curious, is there a reason why you decided to host the open test now, instead of waiting till more of the announced test 2 features are implemented (e.g. after the Alpha 2 test)?
Specifically party and land management would seem to have been features that would have served very well for a public facing test. Most of the other features are being developed in parallel and will be ready right before the start of A2-T2. Doing the Open Playtest after the launch of A2-T2 would have meant running it around mid-March. We wanted to drop the playtest ASAP to compensate for the previous one
@Jamantis said in February 2020 Open Playtest:
So excited. She does the client download come available. The day of launch?
The day before you get access (later today if you're a backer, Wednesday if you're not)
