RE: Is there a specific date for Alpha 2 testing to start?
I would be very surprised if it was still available when we move to beta. The alpha 1 access in shop was taken down almost as soon as alpha 1 test 2 was over. Or it was before even then, i dont remember.
No point in being able to buy access to something no1 will ever get to access ever again.

RE: Are non human species gender locked?
@Voldos said in Are non human species gender locked?:
From what I can tell (from my very brief research I might add) the Human's get to pick Male / Female like a sub-species, however the others seem to have no mention of gender. I can't seem to find any particular mention of character customization and the sub species all seem to have a type of concept art portrait type thing, which makes me think that's just how they will look in game.
Doesn't particularly bother me, but if I'm going to play as a female blood demon I'm going to have to start thinking of different character names
Probably the only reason we havnt seen genders for the other species yet is because humans are the only race we get to play in the alpha. The other 2 races are probably not even designed in terms of playable sprites yet. I wonder when we will get the chance to play a different species, now that i have mentioned that

@deusex2 but none of those statistics even differ if online or offline. you cant make a post if u r offline. simple as that.

RE: Fractured Content Pills - Week 43, 2019
@LilCassiopeia said in Fractured Content Pills - Week 43, 2019:
@Xzait nice point but it would look kind of confusing if you manage more resources at the same time. I think the cart will look the same as in the picture and you have to open the cart inventory to look what is in there.
That is a really good point. i didnt even think of that possibility ^c^
-
RE: Fractured Content Pills - Week 43, 2019
With the cart, are we going to be able to see what rss we have piled on top of it, or is it gonna look like it does and just fill up and we have to remember? If we could see the rss, that'd be really neat and add depth to the game. It would also make it possible for a player that only needs, say 5 logs, to get just 5, rather than them having to travel and forgetting if they had 3 or 4 in the cart and get back home 1 short, coz they thought they had 4.

yet to me mounts should have a purpose.
Besides getting you faster from A-B and maybe some extra bag space, what purpose are you thinking off?
some would be faster, some for multiple people, some for pulling light loads, some for heavy loads, some to scale cliff sides, etc.
These ideas for specific mounts having specific benefits would tie in well with thw horizontal progression. Have Scout Mounts, Cargo Mounts, Terrain Mounts and so on.

@Yitra said in Dual Wield / Fist Weapons:
Now that different kind of skills/spells are bound to certain weapons/unarmed, I would like the idea if that makes it possible to use a "cosmetic" staff after all as a caster
I can only imagine (I am no fan op PvP) that PvP-ers might not like it as there is no prediction of the spells/skills the opponent has.
that could be a good strategy tho. make your ebemies expect 1 then, then hit them with something else. throw them off. the art of desception!! i wonder if the devs will allow us to do that coz it is a legit thing

RE: Where is the news of the next test phase...
@Jetah ye, i get that. but in the devs defence for this one, it is difficult to post updates when there isn't anything for them to update us on. They can't really do prewritten content either i wouldnt think, because they update us all every time a new feature has been added. We are always notified ahead of time. So i dont really see why there is an issue. they have literally spent the last couple on months doing the exact same thing... porting to Spatial OS. For me at the very least, it shouldnt be important to post an update unless there has actually been one... we can all get over it now though. The porting has finally been completed ^c^

RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
@Kralith although i probably havnt read up on fractured as much as some others have, i havn't seen anything eelated to the devs wanting pay for convenience except possibly the carpenter NPC. They have seems pretry heavily against it from what i have seen. The shop even now is only companions that dont attack and furniture cosmetics. Even the foundation is titles, dynamite gold, a mount and a couple of pets. we have been told we can tame mounts in game, but i guess it is a convenience to not need to learn how to tame one... still dont know what is gonna be in the founders chests tho. In a sense tho, even with the foundation, it is free, so not really pay for convenience. participate more like.
In games like this one, i find a smaller inventory is usually fine. we are limited by carry weight as it is anyways. Now, paying for a carry weight increase... that is a different story... encumberance should pose a problem for everyone. In a game like this one is supposed to be, you should have to be smart with what you pick up. Like an Ironman character in Roguelands.

These are not excuses, it's the reality of a small startup as we are.
maybe you should lookup the definition of what an excuse is & educate yourself, being as young as your are you clearly need it.
@Gibbx said in Where is the news of the next test phase...:
@islesofurth wow dude relax. Few projects in the history of mankind have stay on scheduled. Info is coming. This game is going to good. You need to exercise a little patience there friend.
No I don't expect them to remain on schedule.
I do however expect them to keep us up to date on such matters when they have a staff member who's job it is to deal with the community.
Even if he was on holiday it is still his job to ensure that we are kept in the loop.
@Spectre does a far better job at dealing with the community than @Znirf does and he is only an un-payed moderator, not a payed member of Dynamite Studios@Althalus said in Where is the news of the next test phase...:
@islesofurth the company doesn't owe you anything other than a finished game... they don't owe you to give you status update on when they are taking a vacation... Dynamite has been doing a phenomenal job of keeping us updated compared to some other companies... since you don't even know the difference between mid October and early October (which we are still in btw) obviously we should not expect you to behave any better but cut the rudeness mkay?
Perhaps they only "owe" you a finished game, however they "owe" me & many others more than that.
Like many others they "owe" me access alpha 2.
Sure they don't need to provide news of when it is going to happen, they could just launch and force users to check constantly if they wanted to play.
And then most of the people would miss the test phase, the game wouldn't get the needed QA for launch, Launch would be horrid & everyone would boycott the game giving the game & company a bad name.@PeachMcD said in Where is the news of the next test phase...:
@islesofurth - now THERE'S the sense of aggrieved entitlement I'm familiar with from so many game forums! "I paid MONEY! now JUMP, you lackeys, or I shall stamp my foot once again!"
So many places that kind of attitude is normal, I guess I can't blame you for thinking it would work here too.
So glad to see you are wrong. @Znirf's reply is so lovely and polite, and you probably won't appreciate that at all. Hope you'll find someplace else to be. You're obviously not going to enjoy this community at all.
bu-bye!I kind of feel sorry for you @PeachMcD
For you to say that, you have a many years before you realise the importance of what i did. That is why you see it so often on other sites, not because "i paid money, now jump" but because of the laws we live by & the professionalism expected of companies.
If a company does not keep its clients happy by whatever means, then it is only natural that those clients let their grievances be known, either via media or to the company itself. Many people think it is funny to harass the person who is in fact helping the company by letting them know they are upset with them.
Would you prefer i took my grievances to social media sites instead?isn't there something in the terms of service page telling us that if we behave like this, our account can be blocked without warning, @Znirf ? or is it not quite there coz it lacks a swear word or two?... whatever they are...

actually that isn't (completely) true. completionist exist!
There are 4 types of game play in which Wildstar built game play around the 4 major types of players.
compSo, I looked up the 4 types out of curiousity, and to save others the time they are: Combat, Explorer, Scientist, and Settler. I guess any of those 'Paths' might accommodate a completionist player that needed to finish every single part of their chosen path... but wouldn't a real completionist need to finish ALL THE PATHS?
I guess i would just have to play a Scientist that finds a place to Settle as a home base, while Exploring and Doing Combat with all kinds of animals to gather specemines for my research
-
RE: Foundation chests
@PeachMcD yeah, a true completionist would... and if possible, all on the same character.

@Pluto So you're going with "stop coding and do it themselves". Hmmmm.
Itโs like you didnโt read a thing I said. Nice.
Suppose I canโt argue with someone like that haha
lol, there are a few forum members that seem to do that. Read only half the post (if that) and reply to it.

You can just go for those titles that seem interesting for you, and put in an effort to collect those.
I think that people who try to collect "everything" in game always have a painful life.
nah, it isn't really that painful. my fav game of all time is called 'Secrets of Grindea'. The whole point in the game is to collect everything. I am a hunter, whether it is for achievements, every different kind of loot possible, titles, whatever. It is sometimes the only reason i enjoy games... coz there is stuff to collect. In saying that, having events that give limited items like say, mounts... usually really pisses me off if i can't get them in some way or another later on. Even if it costs me tonnes of in-game currency. (The initial pledge titles for the $3000 supporter titles though, i wouldn't expect to be able to get later on. That is clearly meant to be an exclusive. That and i dont have $30k to throw into 15 titles anyways, lol)

@Jetah said in Foundation chests:
I'd like to see the Foundation become a seasonal thing but maybe a year length instead of a usual 3 months. DS could cap the level at 500 or something and let people just stay at cap if they reach it before it resets.
I'd love to have a reason to visit the forums and engage after the game is live. It would attempt to curb toxicity too because if you're banned on the forums then you can't obtain the Foundation exclusives!
I'd be ok with 1 new cosmetic item a year. They can put a full armor set (as an example) over 500 levels. IE Boots, Pants, Chest, Gloves, Shoulders and Helm at every 100 levels. Mounts, pets, titles, skins can be recolored but be exclusive to the Foundation.
I wanna second this. I can also see a way around the objection @Gothix rightly raises to proliferating meaningless titles.
I'm looking through the lens of the Game of Thrones - Ascent alliance vs alliance cycles, which each had a distinctive name, icon, and set of rewards/titles that players competed to earn. By the time the game ended <deep mourning still going on> I had racked up a selection of titles from which to choose - and I was proud of each of them... e.g. Golden Viper, Royal Executioner, Frozen Hammer, Eagle's Bounty .
There were other titles that players earned by longevity (Elder, for those who had been playing for over 5 years, was esp respected) or in-game prowess. Maybe players who earned x# of Foundation titles in a row by dint of solid, constructive forum participation would reap the coveted Master of Contributions title!
i wasn't really behind this idea before, but putting it like that advertises it in a really good way. it seems alot more interesting now, even if i wont be able to collect them all.
