Get ready for Closed Beta!
-
Adventurers of Elysium!
The Closed Beta is nigh.
Only one thing stands between you and the Closed Beta, the Glyph Migration that will start next week!More details on the Glyph Migration will be next week.
-
FINALLY!! HUZZAH
-
Hell yeah!
-
Seriously? I thought the data migration was done back in febuary as per this news post: https://fracturedmmo.com/gamigo-data-transfer/
This also clearly means that we would be in beta now if not for Gamigo delays with their launcher.
I am glad to hear -some- news, but was hoping for good news.
Thanks for the increased transparency.
I guess we get to wait for April for the beta, unless they rush the heck out of the migration, have no issues, and then cut the governor preview of the city sites way down from the traditional 7 day head start.
I hope I am wrong and this gets done smoothly allowing for beta to start by the 31st at the latest allowing them to save face.
-
Woot, Can't wait!
-
I'm doin a happy dance!!!

I doubt it, but we'll never know.

Are you being sarcastic, or serious?
Because if you're being serious, what's that additional transparency?
Do you know if the backend has migrated from the Unity GDK to IMS zeus? I certainly don't, but that'd be crucial information. Do you know why we won't be able to play as Beast/Demon after a five month development period and when that's planned to happen? Do you know if we're getting one or three additional continents? Did you get (rough) retention figures from the Gamigo advertisement?Prometheus has been fairly open back in the days, but these times are long gone.
-
We get one additional continent, that part at least has been quite clear for months.
-
Great news !
-
Changes to the website. Pausing the Foundation. Blah blah blah
The Fractured we all signed up for is dead and gone. Lost when the devs decided it would be a good idea to hand over the reins to Gamigo.
It is unclear to me why everyone thinks this is such a great thing

Nobody is cheering but @Prometheus has made it pretty clear on their involvement at this point.. Dynamight owns the IP, so they can part ways if need be down the road.

that fully depends on the contract details.
-
Hey all! I´ve had my eyes on Fractured for a while now. Was hoping to play in beta. But just to be sure, and this might be a dumb question.. Buying the "adept key" will get me access to closed beta as soon as it opens?
Cheers.

Sure dynamight can own the 'IP' all it wants to, but follow the money. Gamigo controls the purse strings. They control the game. Part ways with the money? unlikely.
-
@Paperbasket Yes, the Adept pack gets you Beta Access once the Beta has started.
-
The increased transparency is referring to just the fact they are telling us information about the actual game development and not just fluff and hype. I am being serious. Giving positive reinforcement for any 'good' behavior is essential for encouraging them to do more of it.
It would be better if they gave us more info, like the questions you asked. I hope that being somewhat positive will encourage them to do so.
I too long for the old days of Prometheus's direct videos.

Which information did you get? Did I miss something?

('A major backend engine update' is a more likely cause for such delays)Hey there!
To quickly clarify, the backend engine update has already happened, it was the testing goal of the Alpha Weekend.

Yes, obviously the alpha weekend test was about a backend engine update, we knew as much. It's been part of the announcement for that test ('(...)The Fractured Online backend engine (SpatialOS) received a major update which should improve performance(...)').
Despite different claims, I (and plenty of others) am capable of reading, but thanks for reiterating that. This doesn't answer:
- How much of the 5 month development time was spent on the engine update
- How much development time had to be spent to deal with the serious issue that appeared during the test
=> We don't know if this has been or still is a road block for the beta. The fact that the update had happened means nothing, since when it happened a massive issue appeared, which has to be fixed.
- If it was an update on the deprecated Unity GDK, or if it was a migration to IMS zeus

Jacapo has already spoke on this.. What I wrote was essentially an example he gave?

What makes you think Gamigo "controls" the purse strings? Gamigo is just the publisher, they're providing support but they didn't buy the IP and Dynamight didn't sell any creative rights.. Sure, there was a cash infusion.. Gamigo is providing some support staff.. Login server tech etc.. All pretty normal things.. They are paying for the publishing and distribution rights.. This likely equates to them earning a portion of the potential sales down the road. Either way, it will be beneficial for all parties to see the game succeed and any/all investments pay off.
