maintenance should really depend on materials used. cheap and easy materials should cost more to maintain but hardy and expensive materials should last longer.

quest are good tutorials. Games usually start you with limited abilities against slow enemies.
they're also good for lore. -

mate. building codes still exist. those products still exist but have to travel further. there are homes/buildings in japan that are 1200+ years old. by your logic they should have been torn down 5 years after being built. The pyramids shouldn't have lasted as long either, according to you. there are homes in EU/UK that are hundreds of years old too. again, according to you that should be impossible.@Razvan
If you don't log in then I can understand it decaying at a faster rate. but if someone is logging in daily or even 5d/w then it shouldn't decay in a month. -

@gothix said in How is the Development Team going to solve...:
Fractured has an advantage that it will give players "the old school MMORPG feel to it" and players are here because they want that. So Fractured does not need to include "super ultra 16-D multi laser sun translucence support that will come with DirectX 16".
I like that description!
and you forgot Ray Tracing! -
RE: Eclipse Question
@Razvan said in Eclipse Question:
First of all, if you're in a guild which makes such a radical change without consulting or at least announcing the members in advance, you're probably better off without them.
Other than that, one week is a reasonable amount of time for people focused on this task - and that's if they plan to improve karma (which involves long, tedious PvE). Dropping karma is always a far easier task - get a roaming party going and attack everyone on sight.
And even if the above paragraph doesn't apply to Fractured, they can also increase the time from 1 week to whatever it takes.we dont know if the guild takes the guild masters karma or if it is its own. or it was mentioned and i forgot already.
bah we really need more spotlights. these pills aren't killing the virus.

we still have software designed for single core cpu's. dual core have been out for 15 years now. many mmos are bottle necked at the cpu and hardly use the gpu so that the client can work on potato systems. -
RE: This game will it be free to play someday?
@Farlander said in This game will it be free to play someday?:
I prefer the model it has now; buy the game and then you play for free. Free to play means tons of microtransactions all throughout the game. I don't mind cosmetic purchases but anything else will ruin the game for me.
path of exile is free and it isn't a mobile game financially. f2p could work but i feel most developers/publishers push the cash shop over gameplay at that point.

RE: How is the Development Team going to solve...
One problem people have is confusing art style and polygon count (graphics).
I’d take cartoon style because it looks better over a longer period of time.

RE: How will be decided which group takes a farming spot on Arboreus (animal planet)?
@Razvan said in How will be decided which group takes a farming spot on Arboreus (animal planet)?:
So here's a scenario: we PvE on Arboreus when suddenly another group rolls in. They plan to troll us (or simply have better clear time), so they attack the same mobs as we do hoping we will leave. I assume karma penalties are heavy on Arboreus, so trying to PK them is out of question. Is there anything planned to solve this kind of dispute?
PS: Could someone move this to questions and answers?
positive positioned karma players cannot attack players (1 exception) on Arboreus. basically it's impossible to pvp good players.
that exception is during an invasion and only against neutral and negative karma players.

i'd prefer not.would prefer bait be used to fish for specific fish and let attributes be ignored for once.

@Jetah Yep i got it
, but then only one thing would happen - nukers would go full tank, gankers/backstabbers full damage, meta would totally change and everyone would go same build. But idea is good - why not set such rules for "asteroids" - maps you can visit for some challenge. They would last only as long as you visit asteroid and would add to challenge.
i forgot about the asteroids ><
i dont see a nuker going full tank if there's no magic. i dont see a 2h going in a zero melee damage world.
there could be specific cosmetic rewards for joining and participation in these activities too! We could build a whole set of gear and weapons that rotate. helm, weapon1, chest, weapon2, pants, weapon3, boots, weapon4, shoulders, weapon 5, pet1, weapon6, etc.
@Shivashanti
i rather like the idea of them and it fits the lore of the game. besides, sometimes you want something different, asteroids or planets with that could be a temporary 'event' style thing.
meta's exist for all games. there's always a mathematically superior build. -

Maybe they’re bards and can be on the battle field. It’s already been proven that music can change someone’s emotions.It’s a neat concept that you take some mental damage and need entertainment to repair it.

@Nyquil44 said in How will be decided which group takes a farming spot on Arboreus (animal planet)?:
All this stuff you are talking about are not even on the devs table yet we need to get basics in game first party features combat needs lots of polishing. Housing ability to add others on it so there isn’t a million of them cluttering the world. Bunch more that are way more important that we’re brought up in bugs list during last test.
I am pointing out the possibility of a frustrating flaw in the idea of Arboreus. I'm not saying they should think of a solution now, but there should be a way to dispute farming spots at release (and preferably that solution could be implemented and tested prior to that).
yeah i dont like the idea of ignoring a problem like this until it's beta or worst at release.
i vote /rps (rock paper scissors) (but then again i'll be a demon so it wont matter to me)

mana stays the same so you'll be oom faster.

RE: How will be decided which group takes a farming spot on Arboreus (animal planet)?
@Yitra
that sounds good on paper until you have 50 guildies that need gear so you all/some head out to a spot to get materials. -
RE: Enhanced Character Creation
one thing i do like is temporary holiday items, although some permanent items should exist too.
The game will get boring without some type of holiday-type events.

sounds boring though.

RE: Social interaction buffs
i think id enjoy the tavern or music hall type entertainment to get/repair certain attributes. I missed SWG and wouldn't mind trying out a dancer or musician (excluding bard) profession.

RE: Life leech on spells / enchants / buff abilities
@Gothix said in Life leech on spells / enchants / buff abilities:
If it's channeled spell with fix channel time, then attack speed isn't a factor.
Or if it's somehow capped how much you can maximum drain in time period. For example, life can be drained only once per 2 seconds, and if your weapon attacks faster, then hits that land in between those 2 seconds do not drain anything.
Or if weapons drain based on attack speed, and faster weapons drain less per hit then slow weapons, so it's balanced.
So for example, if draining is a spell, it could be channeled and drain a fixed amount, during channeling time.
If draining is enchant on weapon, then it could drain fixed amounts based on weapon attack speed, with each hit.
this is why i keep begging for a combat/spell spotlight.
