Might I suggest the most basic (and often hated) mechanic, gold> RNG item upgrade with chance of destruction?
fuck. no.
this isn't an Asian grind mmo.

I don’t have a build because I’m not guaranteed which abilities I’ll unlock first.

Of course I'm going to have multiple accounts... This way I can flip the market, buff or scout while also playing on my main. I mean, lots of people do that.
and it's easier to scout with an empty character too.
instead of merging guilds you created an alliance.

I prefer there to be a basic coinage system in the game. Doing everything in gold coins is much easier than some king of conversion system designated from bartering. It allows a player to convert all their junk items into one easily stored item in the form of coins. Then dealing with npcs will produce coins into the system from missions to buying/selling items. Everything becomes easier using a money system. Why do you think all societies in then world adopted one?
it was adopted because of control. the gov can print as much as it wants to buy/fund whatever it wants. the effect is 'higher wages' and higher cost of goods but if you dumb down the population (like social promotion) then you can tell them they're making more so spend it!

But it just seems strange having quests in a sandbox game in general, where everything is expected to be player-driven
I like how Eve Online did it.
They wrote the plot but didn't write how it ends. They allow the players to determine how a story will end.
example was a capital ship was in 0.0 (complete lawless space) and entered into low security (they have guards but not many). This character destroyed a station and was in the process of escaping. The developers mentioned you can try to stop the ship or try to help it escape.
Some players went to assist/defend the capital ship to help it get away while others tried to destroy it.
in the end the capital ship made the escape. I'm not sure what happened after that but that's how you can have a story, quest in a sandbox but not script the ending so that the players can decide it.
i agree and i believe the start of the game will be the biggest benefit of the sub. at least as it was advertised.
rift was bought out. and fractured is visually different than wow style games.

Hi!
So, I've upgraded my laptop from 4GB RAM to 8GB and now I understand why I couldn't enter game once trying to connect to server. Because now I've managed to do it. And I opened Windows Task Manager to check how much RAM was game consuming when trying to connect to server, almost 6GB, wich I didn't have until few days ago. Well, this game is only for super machines it seems. I'm out.
16g is the minimum for a pc.
if your laptop came with 4g then it's at least 15 years old or is a tablet.
@dragomok
you'll be given some spells/abilities. i hope. I assume you pick a starting 'class' or you can select which skills/abilities you want. the starting 'class' will help new players while the advanced will help those who were in testing.
@gothix
Bots can run Diablo 3s rifts which are procedural generated. The were in Neverwinter Online which had the locked camera to the mouse.
Bots aren’t stupid now. The can read the screen and react.
i feel like it mentioned that at one point. there was opposition to that because UO has/had that where you did one little thing and you're highest stat attribute would drop 5 points because it was fast to degrade. then they created a lock so that wouldn't happen.
3 planets. limited time on another planet when you're not within the correct karma amounts.
demons can invade beastkin planet but will only have 30 minutes on the planet.
demons and humans will invade each other but more frequently.
Crowfall will have temporary worlds which prevents your issue.
'worth' is up to you.
@gothix
when they can do more than people assume it's hard to keep them out.
at least they wont be on Tartaros!

We're not paying 90+ 150+ euro to consume something. That apparently is your mentality right now at least.
that's how consumers think!
we could ask DS to put a streamer page up that list anyone streaming their game
i'm sure keybinds are coming. it's in alpha so it's more MVP.
it'll depend on my mood and how the game develops during the testing phases, how the developers treat the players, if there are loot boxes, etc.
