What sets Fractired apart from other MMORPG’s?
-
I know what I like about it, just curious what others think will separate Fractured and make it stand out among other MMORPG’s, such as WoW or Rift.
-
Well the choice of play styles I believe, also the fact that those styles wont be mixing (aka the beastmen wont get to play on the demon world and vice versa I believe). Thou I do bet there will be PVPers on the humans and PVEers on the humans who'll clash like in any other MMO (if open world pvp is allowed on the humans).

Would it not be good, if you share your thoughts to start a real discussion?
I would be also curious about what you think and like about it.In my opinion, they don't newly discovering the wheel, but the combination is, what they set apart.

I mean for one it definitely is more like sush Diablo or path of exile where the game is more fluid vs just Target and spamming ability keys. Gaining power ina non linear, traditional sense, where you gain it by doing activities, rather than in 5672 xp points to next level.
I also enjoy that each race will play differently but will all be able to interact.
Definitely some good stuff

I think that's bait - OP is holding their opinion hostage to coax out opinions of others.
@Maldeth Anyway, the two things that separate Fractured the most - and are the reason I'm here - are:
- horizontal progression,
- mobs behaving like actual mobs, with a soft confirmation from the CEO.
...
I have a feeling I should elaborate somehow, but I'm not sure.

He is not the first one who do so

The real deal for me was that they worked alredy on a project that has fascinated me alot. So i know they have potential and i know they share pretty much the same vision as me.I had only one true love that was UO and everything that can give me a similar feel is alredy on top of others at this point. There is way more to say but is better to check what alpha might be before going too much in the depths of comparisons.
-
i get a feeling its gonna be a more like a crossover between BDO and diablo, thats just my guess
-
@degt Don‘t think it is comparable with Diablo in any kind, except the isometric view.
-
No level grind!
Also, being able to build your character yourself is pretty rare in mmo's
-
rift was bought out. and fractured is visually different than wow style games.
-
Depends on what the endgame is.
Also, each planet is like it's own separate game.
Beast planet will be like runescape. (full of skillers)
Demon planet like ultima online. (gankbox)
Human planet like BDO. (guild vs guild drama)

I'm here for the PvE

The biggest innovations, imho, are:
- Linear progression - no level or experience; each chararcter will be ready to go right from the start.
- "Flat" itemization - gear will be something that you'll need to survive the different environments, not just items that are there to boost your statistics.
- PvPvE separation - the different game style are clearly divided by default in the game's world so everyone can decide how to play without being on different servers from their friends, if they like a more soft or hardcore approach.
- Taming - I know that the goal of 180k is not reached yet but it has been since the time of UO that a game put a decent taming system up and I really hope Fractured will achieve that!
-
@maldeth apart from wow and rift - no questing, no instances, no holding players' hand. Apart from other mmorpgs - horizontal progression, alignment-dependant pvp system, freedom in building your own character fitting your playstyle, environment interaction, invironment-dependant abilities, gameworld-wide player interaction mechanics, exploration system (This one won't hold for long tho)

Hold on, wouldn't "linear progression" mean "offering no choices whatsover"? Did you mis-type?

That's a really good feature.
I wonder how much of this is going to be true - you still need to unlock skills, and I wonder how, er, battle-ready your fresh-off-the-oven character will be. Will you be able to choose a starting skillset during character creation? Or will everyone start as generic beat-stuff-with-a-stick fighter? Hm.
-
@dragomok
you'll be given some spells/abilities. i hope. I assume you pick a starting 'class' or you can select which skills/abilities you want. the starting 'class' will help new players while the advanced will help those who were in testing.
-
If you can spec a decent toon from the start with a specific skillset, theoretically I could just build a bunch of toons, each for a unique role, and thus minimize the need for any of them to do much exploring/progressing.
Still waiting to see how this will be balanced.

@roccandil
i doubt the starting area would give you enough of a variety to build enough alts like that. IE it may have 15 abilities, a little from each tree.
