Special weekly market
-
I do not know if they already posted this, but it would have been nice if I had a special market that had been in place for a week or two, selling armor, weapons, mounts, rarer items and items in general
-
@elemesmo2 Then that would be the fairs and towns where the Guild could participate with the npc
-
Traveling merchant with uncommon materials - cool. Introduces a new mechanic as well, I see PKers just camping and monopolizing the resource. So it can appear on all planets once a day, travel through by foot or use gates to teleport from location to location.
-
One of the attributes of Fractured's economy is that it's supposed to be entirely player driven. Having NPCs showing up and selling special goods seems to go against that.
-
@mae i'm against it. Uncommon and rare materials should be hard to get and not bough from merchant. As @Target said it should be player driven so if you want uncommon mats get them from a player.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing an npc merchant show up selling material that you harvested from a location that a) is no longer present, and b) wasn't looted by players - ie, the asteroid left, your corpse left with it, you'd kind of like to have that stuff back, even if you have to pay a premium for it. If someone looted your body before the asteroid left, you're out of luck - that's their stuff now, not yours - but if it just goes out into the aether, no reason this black market guy couldn't have scavenged it off your body, right?
-
In my opinion rare items must be earned by the great effort of the players when negotiating among them, mining or hunting powerful monsters, thus obtaining the material necessary to manufacture the item, the idea of ββseeing a npc selling this type of item goes against this logic and makes the effort useless.
-
@tulukaruk Well it's a moving "rare" merchant I think the idea can get away with it. Imagine some hooded npc selling you a dragon egg for a few coins in a tavern. Won't happen every day of course but it's cool to have these random events.
-
I think its a really cool idea! maybe we can make it so that we have to do multiple tasks before the merchant sells to us!
-
@meninodeouro
I agree; rare trades should be player-driven, not NPC.
-
Roaming vendors with cool stuff was in the first months of Everquest and it was a cool touch. People complained and they became vendors in a cave with the vendors in the cave being the roaming vendors (they didn't have anything overly useful). I like the thought of mobile vendors with cool items.
-
wouldn't that defeat the point of player crafted items?
-
@elemesmo2 I say no. Since Fractured is meant to have a player driven economy, as mentioned by many people, this would go against the game's very foundations. Instead, players could act as merchants. There are already many merchant guilds, and they could act as traveling merchants instead of NPCs.
-
@althalus That would be interesting. Could be part of an achievement system where you have to do a chain of quest.
-
I do not exactly want npc to sell rare items but event items and things like npc can sell
-
Thing is Fractured will not be based on quest lines.
And economy will be fully player based, and items player crafted. So this idea, even though it might be cool, will likely not be implemented.
However, players will be able to put their own products on market stands. So what you wish here can easily work, just instead of NPC sellers, players will be sellers.
Bunch of players agree on location, bring their own stuff, put stands, and sell. Even better then NPCs, more lively.

That's the spirit!
I wish I could give you more than one like
I am like many in this thread, against NPCs doing it, but I am fully in favor or players organizing special events.
-
@elemesmo2 I got an idea - create a merchant guild that will once a week organize market in random location You can post a day before where it will be to get clients. That way everyone's happy!
-
@elemesmo2 Yes seasonal shops are really cool and can sell much more cosmetics than usual. Tought we need like a person that have to work on animations and graphics because is not that easy to craft something valuable that player will buy over the normal armor skins ecc..

Wait wait wait... so you want players to create skins?
Because that surely did not go out of hand in MapleStory2 :^)
