@Jignutz said in What exactly is the purpose and principle of cities and personal lands?: @d3Sync I seem to remember in a very recent video the devs saying cities would have unique crafting buildings in them, and could set tax rates for their use. It sounds like the devs could easily move the slider for how common sieges will be by adjusting the profitability of owning a city. They may move the slider. But I'm not convinced that gold is going to be enough to start a war. It may be secondary reward for winning, but not really relevant in what causes tension between regions.

UI Feedback 'Drag and drop' on chest storage and lack of auto-stack makes storing feel like a tedious process. This can be remedied by a 'right click' store, much like how picking up items work. Certain buildings in the city doesn't show on the minimap (Woodworkshop and others (1A) Lack of descriptions on debuffing effects on player icons, i.e; Necrotic disease, Death Mark, etc. etc. Buildings does not have names/identifiers other than their physical appearance, over time this will not be a problem but the lack of name would certainly help out newcomers. Players can add the same items on the enchanting table and still get the same bonus/benefit - not sure if this was intended (1B) Lack of chat tabs isolation - Guild/Local/Party/World, etc. Lack of combat log to test out stats/effects. Combat System/Character stat feedback. Delay on the recognition of stats and effects i.e; putting on a weapon grants its partial stat buff from talents, then enchant effects. Taking off the weapon does the same thing, i.e; removing the weapon first removes the enchant effects, 5 seconds later it then removes the talent effect. Skill 'Concussive Strike' harms user (1C) Skill 'Frenzy' Randomly turns off Other feedback: Random carts everywhere - Players abandoning blueprints, and carts in random places. Animals/monster can run through buildings, i.e; a deer/fox/rabbit being chased can walk through a building while players have body collision against it. Walking with a cart has no difference on paved road vs unpaved road. Mobs can have a 'funny' spawn site which renders them unable to move/react to players around them, i.e they don't defend themselves or react to melee/projectile yet they still get damaged. 1A (Refer to physical location and minimap) https://imgur.com/rS3zgky 1B (4/5 of the items used were the same item) https://imgur.com/HQjBdMT 1C (Refer to the death log) https://imgur.com/ULpYPAa

To also play a devils advocate. These are not a professional payed testers. It's the normal folks paying to experience what has been developed early. Ofc, they want to support the company, so they pay for packs, but this doesn't mean they are also ready to do the professional testing job. In addition, "most of" players that buy the packs, do not do this for purely noble reasons of "unconditional love" for game development they do it so they can gain advantage (by gaining knowledge about game and it's mechanics earlyer then players not in alpha/beta), so they could, when game releases, have a better start, and gain a better position in game community system. There will, of course, also be plenty of players that will actually test the things out nicely and send a good useful feedback, but you can't expect that from everyone. Also, not everyone is an experienced gamer, there will be "fresh" players coming, who do not fully understand the concepts of alpha/betta, and kinda expect almost fully finished product. Again, inexperience isn't their fault, everyone was inexperienced at one point in time. Most of them will learn.

@Zori said in Would we be able to use housing blueprints on the next test?: @Ostaff said in Would we be able to use housing blueprints on the next test?: @Zori said in Would we be able to use housing blueprints on the next test?: focus on the next test as building cities and communities, would building 'pledge packs' houses available then? i.e; ma Would be nice to see what all the options we have are, but I think those are probably only gong to be for release like the titles and pets are probably are. Who knows! but I guess at this point it's not top of the priority, but hell i'm sure it can drive sales for a limited-time-only opportunity for the cosmetic minded people xD I agree with this in the sense that if at the minimum they released some kind of general concept art of each founder home that might drive sales up. I myself love cosmetics and seeing the difference between a palace and castle would play a considerable role in me potentially upgrading my pledge (as I think it would for many others as well).

@Stacy555 said in Bartle's Taxonomy and this game.: Oh dear lord .... a Gamer motivation profile .... damn I'd rather spend my time choosing a hairstyle that looks good in blue.... Motivation profile ... Really ?? ROTFFL !!!!!! I don't know if you missed the point or just didn't bother to consider it, but there is more than one context at work in this thread, and that's not even the running scene in your head, where this is all about you. Or, to put it baldly, why could, should, or would it matter what your preference is when I was talking about mine? Are you one of those people who can't just be comfortable around different perspectives? If so, might I suggest just adding me to your ignore list now and putting us both out of your misery? Thanks. For those interested in gamer motivations, the GDC presentations by Yee are really fascinating watching and educational. For those interested in gaming theory, I'd recommend taking up basic economics and behavioral economics before it, as the gaming industry has a woeful habit of reinventing the wheel as a matter of pride (i.e., engines in particular until very recently)... significantly more insight and relevance is found in economics. For those interested in how companies go about figuring out "what their product is" and all elements implicit therein, that's called "product management" in the business world, am I'm retired from a career in it. There are significant areas of crossover that could benefit gaming, but the creative/studio model is loathe to accept more structure, even when it offers significant cost avoidance and savings. Happy to answer any questions and equally so to refer to extensive resources... please don't mistake my courtesy for weakness - if you make a target of me, bring a lunch.
