@Jetah @Razvan we'll try to make the system as smart as possible, but in general we don't have such long impassable mountains on the map. The only exception is the chain surrounding the Vale, but there will be no towns within it, so that won't be a problem

RE: MMORPG with MOBA movement is an issue?
@Balderly I understand how travelling for a long time can be annoying right now, so we're definitely considering adding a switch to simulate holding the left mouse button down

RE: How will loot drop work?
@Razvan said in How will loot drop work?:
In Albion for example, when you die in blue zone, mobs don't attack you for a short time after you get up so death is less time consuming.
This is going to happen in Fractured too, the fact monsters currently aggro instantly on you again when you stand up from knock-out is terribly annoying in some circumstances.
@Razvan said in How will loot drop work?:
Anyway, when it comes to safe zones I don't see why you'd prefer to walk 15min back to your body after getting killed instead of getting up with a little protection from mobs so you can escape and recover.
In Fractured, if you are careful and keep you Life above 0 you can always stand back up 30s after knock-out, safe zone or not, unless another player is allowed to finish you off and does so.
@Gothix said in How will loot drop work?:
How about pick pocketing on Arboreus? There is no pvp combat involved and it can require certain player skills. If attempt fails get karma punishment. If successful get random item from bag.
Not happening in a scenario where the victim cannot retaliate

RE: How will loot drop work?
If you get killed (knocked out with 0 Life), you can choose if you want to respawn at your place or at the closest town (note: towns are not implemented yet). Disregarding your choice, you leave your body with all your items behind, equipment included. You can run back to get them - the body will stay there for a while, but other players can steal them from your corpse (unless you are a Beastman on Arboreus, which makes you largely protected from hostile behaviors).

RE: Travelling&Exploration
@Clinion @Razvan @Farlander there's one part of the game that's still missing which is at the core of your issues here: cities! The closest one will always serve as respawn point if you die, will provide local storage for your items, will allow you to rest in a tavern, etc. It will truly make the travelling experience feel very different, without taking away that "preparation" part that players like @Balderly enjoy, which is actually a core component of the Fractured experience

Is there any chance for the SpacialOS launcher to be available during this open test?
We might enable it for today's patch. Is there any specific reason why you'd want to use that instead of the Fractured Launcher though?

RE: New Shaders For Fractured
@MrTimo said in New Shaders For Fractured:
I think Fractured needs some new shaders or something. Everything still looks flat and blends in. Its all neutral grays kinda like the how the concept art is. Not a whole lot of contrast and I think the characters and items get lost in all the grays, browns, and greens. Nothing really pops. Idk. What are your opinions on this?
Check out my edit of it. https://imgur.com/a/txBvMyP
Hi @MrTimo, your edited screenshot looks good indeed (although over-saturated), but I assume you're not playing yet, right? Because we've made changes to lighting and post-processing too, so colors are already more vivid than they used to be at the time the screenshot you posted was taken!

RE: February 2020 Open Playtest
@Logain said in February 2020 Open Playtest:
I'm curious, is there a reason why you decided to host the open test now, instead of waiting till more of the announced test 2 features are implemented (e.g. after the Alpha 2 test)?
Specifically party and land management would seem to have been features that would have served very well for a public facing test. Most of the other features are being developed in parallel and will be ready right before the start of A2-T2. Doing the Open Playtest after the launch of A2-T2 would have meant running it around mid-March. We wanted to drop the playtest ASAP to compensate for the previous one

So excited. She does the client download come available. The day of launch?
The day before you get access (later today if you're a backer, Wednesday if you're not)

RE: Support/Bard Type Archetypes?

RE: Account guard too suspicious?
Hi @Fraxav, the account guard uses cookies indeed. It's kind of a standard implementation for such a system - it's not only people in faraway places that can get hold of your password The control on multiple failed login attempts also exists, but it serves another purpose (preventing brute force attacks).
If it annoys you, you can disable it completely from your account menu!
-
RE: Pledge linked to account ?
Hi @Bastic, the reason why you didn't have your pledge assigned is because you never completed the "kickstarter survey" (which asked for your Fractured account username) that we sent to all backers after the campaign was over.
I found your pledge and filled it manually for you, it should be all good now

Our first stress test was short-lived, but a new one is coming already, and is lasting for a longer time!
- Tuesday, February 4, 2pm CET (8am ET): access is granted to all backers, disregarding the type of plege / founder pack.
- Thursday, February 6, 2pm CET (8am ET): access is granted to all registered users β no pledge needed!
- Monday, February 10, 10am CET (2am ET): the open playtest is over.
Letβs spread the word and see each other soon in game!

RE: Is this game using these Unity Asset Store assets and why?
Hi @TianlanSha, our current UI as a whole is pretty much a placeholder (like our current player animations), as typical for games in alpha. We decided to use that asset because it had all the basic functionalities we needed - we could have made them all ourselves, but why spending precious hours of work on something that is placeholder anyway?
@Razvan said in Is this game using these Unity Asset Store assets and why?:
On the other hand, when it comes to assets (the ones that will be in the release), you want a homogenous graphics style, which is kind of hard to achieve by gluing together cheap assets from unity store.
Definitely, that is why all our 3D assets and textures are made internally aside from a couple exceptions - such as basic animals because well, a rabbit is a rabbit as @Xzoviac mentioned
Games that are assembled with random store assets are indeed terrible to look at.

Roadmap To Alpha 2 - Test 2
Hi everyone!
Alpha 2 - Test 1 has come and gone last November/December, and has been (by far!) our longest and most populated testing phase ever.
In order to keep you all more engaged and receive more frequent feedback, we've decided to shorten the time between each testing phase. That is why we're glad to announce that we are targeting the end of February for the start of Alpha 2 - Test 2!
Some of the most requested features in the history of Fractured will be going live then - and you'll have the chance to preview a few of them even earlier in a new open test!
See you soon in game!

RE: Knockdown
@Prometheus good morning just curious if knockdown mechanic was addressed and will be fixed as well if you get stuck and killed by mobs they endlessly kill you and aggro till you get sent home. Hopefully you guys can implement a few second barrier when you get up from knockdown where you wonβt be attacked so we can get to safety. This was a huge issue thanks for your
Yes, we're going to implement a damage/aggro barrier before the next test
