Is this game similar to Albion Online?
-
Hello fellow quest smashers! I am just creating a little thread here to bounce some thoughts off of people who have played Albion Online or at the least know of AO's basic mechanics. I played AO for a fair while but like many others, found content lacking and eventually stopped playing. I loved the game, its unforgiving PVP and its beautiful yet 'simple' art style. Sadly, as previously mentioned the content was non-existent. So i guess what i am asking guys is other than isometric camera angles, medieval/fantasy setting and sandbox mechanics, how similar are these two games?
Cheers all.

Some big differences:
- Albion has vertical progression, but Fractured has horizontal progression, as implemented by the knowledge system.
- Albion is based on NPC PvE-only cities. In Fractured, as far as I know, all cities will be player-built. This will likely make the Fractured world far more immersive (more like EVE Online).
- Albion has many small maps. Fractured has a few much bigger ones (entire continents, at this point). The single Fractured continent in Alpha feels huge compared to AO's world. Also, I get the impression there will be much less teleporting around.
- Albion's endgame is PvP only, basically. Fractured will have a planet devoted mostly to PvE (Arboreus), although it can still be invaded to an extent.
- Fractured has RNG in combat (Albion, as far as I know, does not).
- Fractured characters will be combat-ready quickly, due to the starting attribute system, whereas in Albion, you are simply what gear you wear.

@Roccandil Interesting, some nice points there. I suppose youre in the alpha already is that right? Whats your opinion between them, Im assuming you prefer Fractured?
-
Yeah, I'm in Alpha. It's fairly lean on content at the moment (including the knowledge system), but one difference that's obvious is the immersive quality of the enormous world. I feel very small, in a survivalist kind of way.
Albion simply doesn't have that at all for me. I like Albion, but it feels more like a board game.

/sigh.. not again.
quick search mate:

@Jetah is that necessary? Just wanted to ask the question for myself

it's been answered at least a dozen times. nothing has changed since the last time it's been asked.
in the time it took to get an answer (approx 2.5 hours) you could have just used the search bar to see if it's been asked. I would have not made a comment has you said something like "I searched and found a few post about this game being close or similar to AO, but I have these questions which weren't answered.".
The question you asked was "someone do the work for me" the one I mention is "I did some work but still have questions".

@Jetah getting mad at people for using the forum for what its ment for is pretty weird, it's not like the first page is full of is this game like albion posts.
Makes us look unwelcoming, complaining at a guy when hes just asking a question, hes not trying to be controversial, and hes not being rude. I dont see a problem with OP personally

i'm not made they made a post. i'm mad that they didnt bother to use a function of forums that have existed for two decades. there will be many more post about this too and i'll just point them to the search bar unless they mention they've already searched. which i've already discussed. i dont have a problem with the person, just the question they asked (without a simple search).
https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/post/124944 posted almost a month ago. nothing has drastically changed in the past month that would make the previous topic irrelevant.

I'm a little tired of hearing "Albion???" myself, but I figured I shouldn't say anything about it. After all, taking about Albion makes me angry, and I've got enough anger.

If someone is not interested to take part of some conversations (whatever reason), why just not pass it? Let others discuss who are interested. It would be best for everyone imho.

@Tuoni
maybe people can't see the icon that allows them to search. maybe not hold everyones hand by giving them the answer when you can point them to answers that have already been asked and answered.
-
@Jetah I'm a member of a forum that used to have posts every day, sometimes the same questions where asked multiple times and the vets would get mad about it, saying use the search function this has been asked 100 times (they where correct)
Eventually people stopped talking because every answer had been answered and people couldn't be arsed with the snarky use the search button, this forum is dead now it has maybe 1 post a week if that.
-
@Jetah Seems you got up on the wrong side of the bed today. Your comments make the community appear less friendly and elitist. I am sure a lot of posts being made on a daily basis are similar to previous posts, doesnt mean they shouldnt be made. Maybe just move along or dont comment at all unless you have something positive to say.

Exactly.

This is true. It does not help anyone if all topics which are already discussed should not be discussed again.

you know it wont stop. someone next week will ask it again.
if you're offended and think i'm this way then that's on you because you didnt use the search function. I'm impressed you even made it to TF#5 before asking when you've been here for almost 1.5 years. you've been here long enough to know i'm not always like this. you've been here long enough to know how to use the search feature.

LOL!!!

@Jetah Calm down. Just ignore these kind of threads if they bother you. There's no need to attack the OP.
