Controller Support?
-
Just out of curiosity, will this game have controller support? You know, for funzies... =P
-
@skywingz Since the game is only for PC and it will interact a lot of buttons, it is unlikely to support the controller

PCs also support controllers. There exists a lots of controllers for PC, and you can bind keys to them however you want.
So even if controllers wouldn't be officially supported, players could just bind their skills to keys on keyboard, and then set up controller so he thinks his buttons are those keyboard keys.
Example:
-
bind Fractured skill 1 to keyboard Q
-
bind Fractured skill 2 to keyboard E
-
bind Fractured skill 3 to keyboard R
-
set controller button 1 to think it's keyboard Q key
-
set controller button 2 to think it's keyboard E key
-
set controller button 3 to think it's keyboard R key
And so on. This is how I set up my multi button mouse, and I have all skills on mouse buttons. Controllers can be set up in same way.

- we will move only using the keyboard (if I'm not mistaken)
- will AoE skills for targeted areas, and this controller is not very suitable (in terms of run and to purposefully cast)
- in the game will be 8 hotkeys skills, map, inventory, crafting, settings, Guild, etc. (in fact, part can be moved to a special interface, but still)

It might be that it will be more comfortable to play with keyboard and mouse (of course), but if someone really wants to play with controller he could. It would be incorrect to say that he could not play. He might be at disadvantage if he only uses controlled and nothing else, but he could still play.

@gothix Just when the game will be (as they should be), skills with a very small size (diameter for example), the controller will be difficult for them to quickly move across the map
example
also, if the enemy will use teleportation, and our console hero is a magician, it will be very difficult to kill him.
-
@muker You will move with the mouse, not the keyboard.
-
@specter Thanks for the answer , I don't remember exactly. But still in the game will have to constantly move to survive. Exactly, it was said about the attack, what will not be clamped lmb and pmb
-
@muker everything can be done with controller.
This is just one example.
Of course, some control options will be more fitting (and quicker/easier to use) than others, but you can not claim that controllers can't be use to play.
-
@gothix It is a perversion
-
I don't mind if there ends up being controller support on a PC MMO, as long as kb/mouse control isn't neutered to make controller use easier
-
I mentioned WASD movement for controllers. opening the game up to disabled players would be beneficial to the game. This would allow controllers to use WASD to move.
OR
there's native controller support which makes movement with the pad/stick.
I'm actually surprised there aren't any ADA (for the US) laws to force game developers to support some disabilities.
-
Well.. I'll just leave this question to ponder. Diablo 3 for Pc versus PS4: Which was more fun to play? PC did not support controller. PS4 did. Essentially the same game with two different control mechanics.
-
Why would anyone want to play with a controller? Do people hate themselves that much that they want to suffer constantly?
And so far it seems that fractured won't support controllers, and oh I hope so. This was one of the reason Tree of Savior died.

I would love to see controller support as well. Last Epoch a early access ARPG allows controller use and it just makes the gameplay feel so much different. I honestly never used controllers with PC games but have more this past year and love it. I'm sure others out there feel the same.

@scotticus
I'm not against controller support, but you're handicapping yourself when it comes to using skillshots and point&click abilities. In fact, even selecting abilities would be at least a bit slow & awkward.
-
@Razvan In general, sure that can be the case but it's doable. I've played WoW with a controller using an addon and I had over 20 plus skills mapped.

As Fractured is a game, they are free to use any combat and movement mechanics they see fit to facilitate their vision of how the game should be played.
The ADA won't get directly involved with a purely entertainment venue situation such as this.
