Feature Spotlight #7 - Towns, Governors & Politics
-
@logain That can be almost impossible to hold this places this way, since the prestige will influence the townplaces.
Means, even a Guildtown you will not be able to create just with a one man guild and hold its upkeep.
Because it needs some activity in a town not to let it degrade back to a Hamlet.
If i understand the system in a right way.

If he declared his town as a guild town, yeah, as much as he cannot be removed from the role of guild master of the guild.
Could we get an option to vote guild master out of his GM position?
I mean what happens if guild master goes nuts and no one in guild likes him anymore? The only option is fore everyone to leave the guild and form a new one?
What happens to guild city if everyone leaves the guild and guild master is left alone, then everyone forms a new guild, and now its a city of 50 members of a guild, and 1 guild master of a solo guild, but he is a governor? Does he get to force all 50 other players to leave the spot and go somewhere else?
-
@jetah If your city is tied to a guild, you can rule it as a dictator.
-
@tulukaruk You clearly haven't experienced that ingame xD.
Word travels only to the people who look and listen for it.
I have seen guildmasters, that made their members pay a "security fee" just for being int he biggest guild ever.
He kicked people that he deemed unworthy, just moments before his "secuirty squad" gangbanged them and stole all the stuff they should transport to another town, as the guild master stated that they want to change the guild bank area. And i heard this story more often then it should happen.
Funny thing is. PEOPLE DONT READ FORUMS or anything that could inform them of this.
They see a big badass guild, promising stuff and shiny opurinitys.
Get hooked, reeled in and grilled alive.Makeing this even easyer for these scammers, by 2/3 right of vote or full dictatorship ... seems productive. If you want to kill your server population. People playing already inform themself rarely about a game, but negative press will keep possible new newbies away...
Don't get me wrong. I am all for punishing misdeeds and voteing people out of town that are toxic little goblins.
But it should come with safety for the "innocent" not just with the stick of loseing all of your stuff, instantly ... which you worked weeks for. To build your little manor and set it up. Place a chest with spare equips of good quality and stuf flike that.
-
@gothix that would happen, then the new guild can siege the town and take over, if it's not on araberous.
-
Guys i adore all your ideas, they r just like fresh wind in MMO genre. But u r a small company and i pray all gods so u can really do all that great stuff
-
Will there be NPC in our town ? Or only players ? And if yes, how can we bring NPC in the town ?
-
Really nice info in this update!

Perhaps this is a stupid idea, but why not make the carpenter profession a craft that will be pumped (it takes less time to repair, less resources and something with the quality of tools-let's say a simple hammer, now repairs not 10% of housing for 1 application with a resource, but 15).Read "Summary of the Crafting & Building Q&a livestream" and found out what it would be in the game
-
I do like how player based it is, especially that individuals are elected. Good stuff!
-
nice, looks awesome!
-
This right here has drawn a lot of people to the game from my corner of the world.
People are stoked.

Indeed, does any other rpg ever tried player-based politic elections before?
-
can a governor share their "governor" powers with someone else? or must they step down entirely?
-
@codetsilon According to the last Q&A, governors can give powers to other people.
-
@target so no share just give?
-
@codetsilon Share and give are the same thing in this context. If a governor gives someone the ability to place public buildings, it's not going to remove that power from the governor.

@mazikar here here!

@esher my first guess would be that as the town grows, there will be upgraded options, including the opportunity to hire/move in various NPC's, like merchants and guards. Granted, merchants will be limited considering how this game will work, but there will still be a need. And things like guards, servants, couriers, etc will likely be important to keep the gears running, since people generally won't be able to be online 24/7. There'll need to be something's to keep things running and protect your town while offline.
