Tame monsters and make them accompany you
-
When the monster gets close, you fight it to death. You can start taming him, he can become your companion, and you must feed him every monster that needs different food
-
@anasfract taming is already planned, as far as I know, not sure it will work after a fight, and not sure it will encompass every creature existant.
Such a mechanic needs fine tuning, otherwise it could become too strong and require everybody to play the tamer to stay in par.
-
Taming in every mmo I have played that had it was one of the biggest areas of complaint simply because it is so hard to balance.
-
In the fundraising stage, funding was a stretch goal. That goal was met, so they'll have some kind of taming - but it will likely be underwhelming as they don't want it to be very relevant to their ideal core gameplay.

@FibS thanks for explain

Could you elaborate on what you define as ideal core gameplay?
And do you happen to have a link with that statement by the developers?
Thanks in advance

I would expect taming to be more akin to PvE content and less effective in PvP for balancing purposes. Which makes sense and is a fair compromise.
Although feeding the pet and loosing them when they die, is an awesome concept and adds a lot to immersion. Really looking forward to such mechanics (eventually).

@Kazzier me to bro

A quick look at the wiki re the CHA stat talents showed a Whole Lot of them haven't been implemented yet. One of those, Beastmaster looks particularly relevant to this discussion.
The balance aspect is the reason the animal companions we can get in the store aren't battle aides. Moral support & cuteness are also important though!
Looking forward to seeing how the animal command/tame features work, when they roll those out. Would be so cool to be able to de-escalate a bear or a wolf instead of having to kill them

Need skill to tame wife/husband when you get gaming agro, so you can play more.
That will be by far the most powerful skill you can ever learn.
-
@Gothix This skill is in a very very very advanced skill tree, and the unlock for it is a total nail-biter!
-
@GamerSeuss this implementation is wayyyyyy down the road.

recruiting monsters to fight with you < recruiting friends to fight with you

I love taming in games like this. In LoA I was a tamer and it was awesome until they nerfed it pretty hard and I just ended up playing something else. I am beyond stoked to see their take on it. I would love the idea of being like a stealth tamer you know hiding in the shadows with a pet and then just pounce on your enemy.
