WASD or click to move only?
-
Just wondering if there has been any information about different options for character movement in the game? Coming from WoW, ESO, and GW2, WASD is programmed into me now. I don't mind clicking to move as I play Albion as well and that is how you move in that game, but just curious. Think it would be very cool to have multiple options for movement.

Considering the isometric point-of-view of the game, the WASD configuration may be tricky. I think it will only be click-to-move like in H&S or moba.
-
@scotticus For now we only have click to move confirmed, without WASD.
I would personally also prefer if WASD was given as an option to move the character (at least towards sides of your screen, simple left right up down), because options are always good.
We will see if devs will decide if that is viable or no. But now it looks like a no.

It could work in a simple variation by moving you not based on your characters orientation, but simply towards sides of your screen.

Hi @scotticus you could search (see here) on the forum with "WASD" you could see all what you ask
-
@lightspoon Hmmm there are lots of isometric games which have wasd as movement, for example Battlerite.
-
Path of exile or diablo click to move is the best choice i think.
-
@j4po I don't really like click to move, so much, but I will agree, it's probably the best method here.
-
click to move ftw.
-
we have a 100 page thread on click to move/wasd.. you can find it in the search bar.
-
For this type of game, click to move and the best option.
-
Hopefully this is the last wsad tread...

nah, we'll be in launch with these threads popping up.

You underestimate the amount of people that play classic mmorpgs with WASD and are used to it.
There is so many people that aren't used to click to move, or simply don't like it, and honestly, regardless of what I think about click to move vs WASD, by not offering WASD option, Fractured will lose many potential players.
I don't see any reason why optional WASD that just moves the character towards sides of screen wouldn't be offered. But that's just me.

@gothix Unfortunately, you have a strong point. I've played Diablo, PoE, and the earlier ilk, and I've gotta say, there's alot of players that vie for WASD than point and click; not only for the extra movements and the hand placement for the hot keys, but also frees up the mouse for other things.
I agree with doing what PoE did and have the Option for it at the very least.
-
Ya, the option would be nice; point-n-click to move tends to make my hand hurt.

Maybe I've somehow been sheltered from the criticisms, but I find that a little hard to believe. Are there really that many MMO players that have never played a strategy game, or an ARPG, or a MOBA? There are even classic MMOs that use click to move: Rappelz, Ragnorak Online, Lineage 2, Runescape, Shadowbane, Silkroad Online, just to name some that I've played. Even Albion Online seems to only have click to move.
I understand having a preference but flat out not playing a game because of it seems a little extreme.

@gothix Agread there about the controls. It is nice to use a mix of keyboard and mouse.
-
click to move seems normal for games like this.
-
Mhm.. for an isometric 3d game similar to runescape builds, mouse controls seem good.. though if they want a moba combat feel, there really should be an option for both styles.
-
@target I still don't understand why anyone (other them devs ) would be against optional WASD....
