A quick recap about the foundation and its future
-
@dcccxix
I've been here 9 months with over 2k post and I might have post in the daily thread once. over 99% has been legitimate comments or topic creations.I'm sure the intention was that people would engage with others and thus keeping the post comment points but eventually people just started a daily post and kept with it.
If there is a cap then eventually everyone can catch up unless the whole foundation system is removed.
My problem is that Reddit sub is pretty barren because of the foundation system.

foundation is fun!!
-
@jetah As someone already said, better a daily thread that shitposting around that make forum more illegible. Would be very bad if under a new proposal you found 50 cool, agree ecc instead of a true discussion..
Anyway i wasn't looking to higher rewards, for me as i said is possible to put an hard cap right now or something, but having a bit of light about what gonna be around foundation would be cool.

Odd, I was sure he mentioned two names at least. Then again, I could be wrong!

Ambassador and engagement wasn't there at the beginning. It would be enough to get one engagement and one ambassador 'win' to even out that gap.

In all honesty as a relative newcomer, I'd like to see more different kinds of quests rather than more rewards. Or at least finally see some community contests. I'd love to get the top level pet, but I just don't see a way to do it at this point.

@needlehawk
it takes time. really nothing more unless you can pop your referral somewhere. I thought the same thing 9 months ago when I first joined. But visiting every day, posting some comments, engaging with the community and doing the foundation quest, I'm now over level 180.Assuming the Foundation stay until release (or just before) then you have 2 years to go.

@logain Prometheus did mention that a few people might not get a key, but he didn't give specific names. With that said, I don't see any troublemakers in the top 100 right now.
-
I don't quite like the idea of not being able to pseudospam for the current daily post points as it gives a way for those of us who don't have much to say to have a chance contribute in the pre-alpha.
Also inb4 no one gets a key cus everyone is a trouble maker.
-
@lovechildbell Well if you take the time to log daily for months to take 50 pts you might show interest in the game and deserve to test the Pre alpha.
But again for me is way more annoying if someone start to necro 3months thread just to say cool or spam in more intersting discussions, so that topic is pretty beneficial from my point of view.

I've never participated in something like the Foundation in the lead up to a new game. I like how it encourages reading news and generally familiarizing yourself with the game and participating on the forums.
The whole "invite-a-friend" mechanic is reminiscent of a pyramid scheme; not sure I would use that if implementing my own.
I definitely -don't- like the daily message posting mechanic. Maybe the spam it generates is worth the content encouragement, but I wonder if the engagement awards aren't enough for that.
-
@roccandil
Referral systems are good for games. Marketing knows a friend can convince them better than an ad.If the only method to get points was from friends then Iād consider it a pyramid scheme.
-
@jetah
Sure, referrals make sense. Increasing points as your referrals increase points, however, is what reminds me of a pyramid scheme.Granted, you're right, you can get points other ways, but still, you're encouraged to get as many points as you can, so the pyramid element -is- in play (if not exclusive).
-
@roccandil
Pyramid schemes are because you earn Moreno through referral than purchases.
-
Safe to bet before alpha it will be still around, after that.. not sure. I have been trying to aim towards what I consider the min I would really like and then after that is bonus.
I have to wonder if they will put variations of the items we are going to get into there store so that players that join later have a chance at receiving them, or in game achievements.

I'm kind of scared to post about WASD now....

@tulukaruk
just have to make a great argument for it. I'd love it because it would open the game up to disabled people and those that haven't fully adapted to KBM (console players that swapped).maybe the game plays well with a controller and using a KBM is actually worse.
-
Actually didn't even realize I hit 200, but yeah would be nice to get a small update for foundation. Honestly though there should be a cap for foundation level in the end.

Yay! I've reached Consul today!
Took me 5 months and 3 weeks. And a lots of @Kralith s coffees!
