RE: VIP system : What do you think ?
@kralith I agree we are to quote the saying putting the cart before the horse with this argument. Since we really don't have any idea how the VIP subscription will affect the game.
I've played many different versions of games: Subs, f2p with vip sup, straight f2p, and f2p with cash shop. I've enjoyed each of them for different reasons. I'm not playing most of them now again for different reasons. I think the VIP subscription has merit for those that have the financial ability to pay. In any game I play I've never looked at as I'll never reach xx goal unless I pay. If that's the case I'd probably move onto another game rather than pay so it doesn't provide any revenue or incentive for the devs to go that route. However, if they do then that's their choice as this is their game and their business that they need to support.
I think we need (as painful as it is) to wait and see what the over all affect will be before we start leading the riot with pitchforks and torches.
RE: Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs
I think the prices are fair and pretty standard for other games that I see. I do like the exclusivity of the packs with the limitations of how many can be purchased in the different categories.
I think the best value in the packages is the Immortal package. I would probably look at either the Governor or Aristocrat. They are good without going too overboard crazy, but I'd need to find out what the whole govern a town involves.
What happens if I buy the package and then don't play, what happens to my town does it become a ghost town?
What happens if someone buys a package that includes governing a town and then doesn't play or doesn't create a character? Is there going to be a stone block somewhere that would be their package? Life happens sometimes and plans made now may change
Since I"m the Governor do I need to pay upkeep on the town like you would for a house?
Am I supposed to be enticing people to come live in my town? What if I have friends that are also Governors can we pool out towns into a bigger town?
If someone buys a larger package like a Duke do they still need to Govern the town or are they past that level?
I'm sure I have other questions but I'm sure you get the idea.
I don't think the packages should have foundation points. You'll get different people interested in the Kickstarter than in the Foundation.
RE: Gathering/Crafting Question
@Mimi There hasn't been a spotlight on the crafting/gathering mechanics yet. There has been some statements and interpretation/speculation on what the statements mean. I'm also waiting to see what the spotlight will show for the crafting side.
RE: Crafting system and lifeskilling suggestion
......since all weapons will be equal in stats (note: equal doesn't mean the same), the difference in stats between similar weapons will likely be so small that splitting it up into sub-components wouldn't really make sense.
There was some discussion about a similar topic in this thread.
This is where I'm waiting for the spotlight on the trade skills because by definition equal does mean the same so I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how it's all equal but different.
Definition of equal
1 a (1) : of the same measure, quantity, amount, or number as another
(2) : identical in mathematical value or logical denotation : equivalent
b : like in quality, nature, or status
c : like for each member of a group, class, or society
I've read through the information on the boards and I've seen everyone posting about how it's all equal and weapons and armor don't matter. I'm just not getting the concept.
If Sword A = Sword B = Sword C then everyone will take Sword A and move on. Which means that once everyone has Sword A there's really nothing left for a weapon smith to do except hope for new players. Or maybe someone wants Hammer A instead.
So I'm waiting for the spot light and hopefully that will clarify things for me.
