Multi-account

Will a multi-account be used?
Just we were given the opportunity to create only one character
-
This response by Prometheus implies we can have more than one character: https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/488/discord-questions-and-answers/2

@33Hp you'll be allowed to have multiple accounts and more than one character per account. You won't be allowed to keep multiple accounts connected at the same time though.

Any specifics on how you're planing to enforce this? And what's the stance towards shared/traded accounts? (I dislike multi/shared/traded accounts, but it is usually nearly impossible to police)

You mean multi-boxing?
-
I think he means only 1 account allowed to be connected to the server from an ip at a time. So you can't run multiples of the game and farm on more than 1 account at the same time.

That wouldn't make sense. What about family members/roommates playing on the same IP then?
-
they would have different local IPs. so maybe not more than one on the same machine

By monitoring players' activities - login / logout patterns, IP addresses, in-game behaviors. It's not easy, but doable with the help of player reports. Account sharing and trading is forbidden too, as in most MMOs.
In the end, our aim won't be to punish the guy who shares the account with his girlfriend, but people exploiting the ownership of multiple to gain massive unfair advantages.

@Prometheus Myhal is my girlfriend btw

I 'worked' as volunteer Gamemaster in a MMORPG back in the days, I know what you're talking about, but I know about the difficulties (and the 'success-rate') as well.
I'm glad that you're at least going to try and do your best though!

Was doing some searching for some topics and found this one. I know it is quite old but still an issue for me. I run more than one computer in my game room from which myself, my wife and my son game from. I'm not savvy on networking as I should be but does this mean that we are not going to be able to play together?

On 1 account can be from three characters, the rest for sets and most likely Donat.
Playing ONLINE, respectively, you can not play on a local network and that you play all together, each family member must have an account

Prometheus already said it:

they cant limit 1 account per IP because colleges, and stores offering free wifi, would cry.

If you read the terms and conditions really carefully too, there is a part in it that seems to suggest multiple account IS NOT okay.
Acceptable Use Policy 5.2 is as follows;
..."(vi) use software or automated agents or scripts to produce multiple accounts on this Website, or to generate automated searches, requests, or queries to this Website."
-
@Xzait
that's the website, not the game service.people were automating recruits.

to have multiple accounts in game, you need to have multiple accounts on the website, do you not?
-
Software now days can recognize what machine it's installed on. So the game could recognize if 2 (or more) clients are running on the same machine (and disallow it), or on different machines (and allow it).
So even if family played together (on different machines) this wouldn't be blocked... but alt tabbing would.

If you all have own accounts and you are playing from different computers, then there should not be any problems to play together at the same time. It is quite basic stuff, that people plays in same local network with same IP-address.
EDIT: So most likely you will be fine.
