How hard will it be to Build villages and cities
-
Will building cities be something you go and farm resources for? or will you be able to able to order logs off other players and hire other players as builders.
Just wondering because this is meant to be a player run economy right? id like to see variation in styles we can build things in and how they get built, what does everyone else think ?

@orical-the-exile Look for item 6. EMPIRE-BUILDING
-
I think for building there will be ressources like wood, stones, clay, metal. But i can imagine also so find decorative elements while on an expedition.
Since all items are crafted by player, also the buildings and furniture will crafted by us.

I really liked the building style if "life is Feudal", it meant that players had to come together to make anything bigger than a hut the way it should be.

I'm expecting a UO-inspired system where you have to lay down a plot, and your character or account qualifies for only particular plots. You need to be in a guild in order to lay down "public" plots for things like banks, marketplaces, etc., or to lay down more than the one plot allotted to your character, or to lay down a claim stake that basically turns the entire surrounding area into a guild plot so you can freely build a town.
Once the plot has been laid down, you can start building tiles, walls, etc. on top of it, and there will be function-based furniture or spawn points or w/e depending on what plot you laid down, e.g. putting down a guard tower plot will let you add guard spawns, maybe ballistae or something.

All these things sound awesome! It would be chill if one of the devs or a representative could respond :3

Horizons has the best housing building I've seen.
You put down a blueprint of a house. You have to build each wall individually! Each wall requires resources, both raw and refined. You can place payments directly on the UI so that if I brought wood I would get paid for it.

@jetah that sound little annoying

@grofire
It’s great for an economy based game. It takes a while to build a house too but you get to see it take shape as materials are added.
-
@jetah it might take time and resources, but wasting time is not something I consider as fun... so there should be different method to use the resources, without wasting time in an-fun activity.
-
build is 1 thing, keep it is another

@grofire
building a house shouldn't be instant. it should be building. you should need lots of stone if you picked a stone house. you should need lots of wood if it's a wooden house, etc. just buying a deed to a house and magically it's built isn't fun either.it's quite the accomplishment to build a house that takes a week to be completed. you see the foundation start and complete. you see the walls start then become complete. same for the roof. it's a wonderful feeling dragging materials to the house to get to closer to being complete.

Not sure if anyone has played Haven and Hearth. probably not because that game never got off the ground, but some mates and I played and we had to wait a literally 2-3 days, I can't remember exactly, for a house to finish building. Real life days.
-
i played eve online, 1 ship can take 3 months to build.
-
@jetah sound like a bad experience, I do not mind getting materials for building your house, but wasting time just for the sake of wasting time sound bad.

@grofire
it's how the game is setup though. that's the largest capital ship in the game (well 1 for each race, still the same build time). not to mention it could take a month of gathering to get to the point of building it.and you had to defend the player outpost! because it could be destroyed during that time.
