Int and Cha required stats? = Unbalanced?

    a

    We are just stating the current attribute weights for the present state of the game. Indeed, everything changes once more is added to the game and the current stat base has been re-adjusted by varying methods. But the question I believe is for this upcoming Alpha and not at the time of release.

    Also... feel free to plan your characters ahead of time at: http://TheShadowEmpire.net/public_CharacterPlanner.php

    STR - Health, Armor (meele damage and carry weight are not really generally necessary stats)

    In most games, you would be right about Carry Weight, but in Fractured, as I stated above, with having to carry everything from place to place, not being able to share your bank, plus the weight of things like rocks and sticks for campfires, carry weight actually does have more impact. If you get encumbered, your speed goes way way way down, even if you have a pumped up Dexterity, which could majorly affect you in PvE or PvP, not to mention, part of the reason for PvP in this player driven economy is to walk away with all the loot, and you want to be able to carry that loot safely to your own stash spots.

    Is that not what mounts and carts are for?

  • CHA is not useless, it's just that at this point the archetypes that would benefit the most from it are either not popular or not possible to play yet: buffers, summoners, illusion school users.

    Yes, but @GamerSeuss has a point. For example, soloing as a 6STR archer is very annoying because the arrows alone weigh a lot and you go through them very fast. How about transports, if the gankers manage to CC & dismount you, reaching the weight limit or not can mean the difference between certain death and the possibility to escape on foot.

    @Razvan THIS!!!

  • TF#4 - EMISSARY

    Hey,

    I played a character based on INT/CHA during the beta, and it is completely playable.

    In a 1v1 and smallscale pvp combat context, i found this stats really strong in the sense that currently the 2 most played and most efficient cc's (in my opinion) are stun and silence (power of..) based on CHA.

    On the many duels done vs archers, melee build and others "mage" withe low CHA, silence + stun combo is gg for me, silence first to avoid purge then stun and you just pop your icespikes + any spell dmg (poison or corrosive spell, don't remember the name) combo it's done, i used blink spell + invisibility so i can reset fight, wait for cd's and re engage.

    Even without the engage i have high resist on silence and stun with CHA & luck stats, and the charisma tree was not fully implement so maybe more stronger things to come, so yes definetly a stat to consider for pvp/gank.

    My experience is based on duel with full stuff/enchant character on beta mostly, with all spell available so i don't know how hard it will be to build a character like this.

    (sorry for my english, not my mother tongue)

    I, myself had only 6 Int as an archer and had no penalty from it at all. i would use 12-14 memory points for my most common skill sets. I did have maxed charisma, but I am a gatherer, crit based type of character, so it is ACTUALLY useful. This ties in exactly like someone mentioned much earlier in the thread.

    My full build was 10 str, 6 con, 6 int, 18 dex, 18 cha and 18 per. total min-max archer gatherer. I still managed to do everything PvE related solo, with the exception of some of the legend bosses. Surprisingly, if i swapped my gear around to specialise, I could even take on a couple of the hard legend bosses (which should be buffed in the next test, so it shouldnt be possible moving forward, which is good). Soloing a hard legend boss with a mere 1.3k or so hp felt a little cheap, i must admit.

    @GamerSeuss I see, so I suppose it's really to early to understand if there actually are must-have stats at all.
    Except for CHA that we know is currently dumpable... 😛

    It depends. if you hinder your cha, you will have lower drop rates for loot from monsters. everything has a major penalty somewhere; Charisma directly affects luck, which has an effect on almost all RNG. Your crit damage, drop rates, evasion and hit rates. Dropping your Cha can have much more of an effect than people seem to realise. I was capping my luck last full test (that lasted a month), because i was farming for materials... the impact of having 1000 luck vs having 200 was immensely noticable.

    Every character still gets the same 8 hot button spots on their character, and even with minimal INT, you can fill all of those slots

    With what? Literally random low-end garbage you never use, mostly because they all do magic damage and you have no INT?

    You can, technically, drop INT all the way to 4. The problem is that going under 10 will make any character unusable.

    As an archer, all of your skills only cost 2 memory points each, meaning if you have 2 healing items in your hotbar, you only need 12 memory points. You can even have the Power Word skills if you want for CC and cap at 16. 16 is plenty for an archer.
    I also tested minimising stats a few times. I have never been able to drop my Int or Con to 4. I probably would if I could, coz the extra strength for carry capacity would be nice to hold more arrows and bows.

  • TF#8 - GENERAL AMBASSADOR

    @Xzait I usually don't believe too much in luck in games, since my own anti-luck can cancel out any rng bonus I might have. 😛
    Jokes aside, thanks for the insight on what you experienced with a high CHA character, I'm not going to dump any stat, I think, I usually play balanced, exactly to avoid minmaxing and the penalties that can come with that. 🙂

  • TF#8 - GENERAL AMBASSADOR

    @Xzait
    Using the formulas given on the wiki and other posts I was able to determine that 20 CHA only gives a +10% boost to -most- luck based things (so 40% chance to avoid effect becomes 50%) provided the primary stat they are based on is at 10 or above and the competing stats (dex vs pre for example) are not too far apart, it gives less at the lower and top ends for each due to the nature of math and exponential curves. I am not sure if that translates to 'immensely noticeable' or more of a 'why didant I just spread these points out to the stats I actually want higher'
    It is interesting to hear that you had no problem working with a low int, did you do much pvp?

  • TF#12 - PEOPLE'S HERALD

    @OlivePit No, I didn't do much PvP at all. My build is a gatherer build, not a PvP one. If I am to get attacked by someone I am not expecting, I will likely die, due to the nature of where my stats will be focused for gathering, unless the player just happens to have the same build as the enemies I have prepared to fight. Also, it isn't only your 20 charisma that will have an effect on luck. Having 20 charisma will only get you to 250 luck. Luck caps at 1000. If you look back at one of my previous posts, you will see that I made a specific comment of having 1000 luck is very noticable compared to having 200 🙂 (you have 200 luck at 18 charisma).

    Granted, most players won't stat extra luck at all... but for a crit focused, gathering type of player, or someone that relies on evasion and hit rates, luck is extremely useful. One thing to take note of though, is that there is at least 1 melee skill that is always guaranteed to hit with critical damage and leave a bleed debuff, which is a solid counter to high evasion builds 🙂

    Possibly the absolute most nopticable place luck plays a role, is with rare drops like sulphur from goblin fire shamans. Because the base drop rate is so low to begin with, that extra drop rate can make you go from killing 10 for a single sulphur, to having to only kill 3.

  • For anyone interested, there's a table and chart about how much do different luck values (-100 to 1000) affect different chances (5% - 95%) in this post: https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/11600/anyone-figured-out-what-does-luck-charisma-affects-exactly/7

  • TF#8 - GENERAL AMBASSADOR

    @Xzait
    20 cha gives 450 luck, (-250+20*35) according to wiki.
    Charisma talent tree has 3 bumps of +30 luck bringing the total to 540.
    I would be very interested in finding out what other sources exist to bring you up to 1k although the difference that extra effort would make in pvp is the question at hand as any pve success is mute when you get ganked and looted. Which is the expected outcome to be guarded against. I am glad to hear the CHA focused build was as useful as it was for farming, but also consider that a trial in a vacuum compared to when the game is live and the only place where that build is sustainable is on the pve world. I would like to think that a high CHA build with stun would allow for escape and survival from potential gankers, but find that un likely considering all the move speed and dashes available to the attackers which would make it into some sort of arms race which I think is something no-one wants.

    @Razvan
    yes, thanks. I made my own chart off of the equations supplied in the wiki from which I derived my generalization.

    Enchanting, base materials in crafting, rabbit's paw amulet.

    You are calculating it wrong. having a base of 10 charisma, leaves you at 0 luck. If you drop to 6 charisma, you have -100 luck. Each charisma gives 25 luck. 10 Cha = 0 luck. 14 = 100 luck and 18 = 200 luck. 10 stats is the average, so other than things like hp and mana, you will have 0 in whatever that stat changes, when you have 10 points in the stat. Reducing Int, for example will drop you to negative magic resist and dropping your dex below 10 will give you a movement penalty.

    @OlivePit here's a link to a character builder that has been created and updated with the communities help!
    http://theshadowempire.net/public_CharacterPlanner.php

    Some things might still not be there, but the vast majority of everything has been added. I think only stuff like the base slash resist, pierce resist and so on, on equipment hasn't been added and possibly some of the talent tree nodes.

  • TF#8 - GENERAL AMBASSADOR

    @Xzait you are forgetting the +10 boost (+200 after multiplication) from reaching 20 CHA.
    Each stat gives a special boost to some derivative stat if you have a 20 (including talent boosts). My math is not off. I already, earlier, noted this to TSE as a missing aspect in their character planner. Thanks for interacting with the question however.

  • TF#12 - PEOPLE'S HERALD

    There was no +10 boost per lvl after reaching 20 cha last time i played. i had 22 or 23 cha in my luck build... I still only got 25 per cha. unless they have implemented it now, it still isn't appliccable.
