Games that didn't make it
-
I just wanted to see the games that everyone was excited for but sadly were dropped/died
-
For me I'd say there are only 2 such games: Lineage 3 (later named Lineage Eternal) and Elveon. Bannerlord was very close to be part of this list, but as it turns out they will actually release it this year.
-
Fallout 3 - we got Skyrim with Gatling
Diablo III - we got WoW from isometric perspective featuring Lord of Terror with boobs
-
EverQuest Next and Landmark (landmark was a build the word game/tool where the idea was to involve the player community alot in the making of the world some awsome ideas that died)
-
Firefly Online. The Cortex on steam was supposed to prepare players for the game. Sadly the game died with no explanation to anyone

You have no idea how sad Firefly Online not being a thing made me.

@Razvan Mar 31st .. Unlesssssss

@Farlander and @Ori0n
Firefly Online
Well, the Name Firefly seems to be cursed.
I did not waited for the game, but it made me sad that they just made one season of the serie.
So much potential, such a waste.

As for my list:
Otherland - well it was very poorly made, but alone the try to bring it to a game got my interest in it.
SkySaga - Some Minecraft-like MMORPG, very promising but droped... Developer should not go to bed with korean publisher.... never ever do that, if you not just want to throw a short living money machine into the gaming maket. The more known games, that i wanted to see that they are long living, but did not made it:
Warhammer Online
Wildstar
-
Worlds Adrift, still cry if I play the music or visit the islands in the Creator.
-
Chronicles of Elyria... big rip

Yeah, I was not following this project that closely but it is always a shame when MMORPG is canceled, it is at least a bad reputation for the whole genre. There are few predictions or opinnions why CoE was canceled, maybe it was a scam or maybe the studio just run out of money. Either way something odd there happened.
-
@Tuoni Couldnยดt be more obvious scam - after all those years they only released short lara croft-like demo. If there was no corona, it might have continue for years Looked primising tho, too bad they never got further than "planning the features phase" during those 6 years.

Well I do not have much information so I can not make an argument to way or another, I just watched few videos related to this topic e.g. TheLazyPeon and Bellulargaming. Peon thought it was a scam and Bellulargaming was more like thinking that they just run out of money. However, Michael was somewhat suspicious that something shady there was involved as well. I got the picture that something shady business there has been done during the development even it was at the beginning an idea to deliver a game for real. Perhaps it turned a scam at some point when it started to look kind of bad to release the game ever... just speculations though.

I didn't know Chronicles of Elyrium was canceled. Some of the guys in my gaming community were wanting to play this and dropped on some of the higher options. Makes me think of Star Citizen.
-
-
The official explanation is that CoE exhausted its Kickstarter budget before it was able to secure publisher funding and was forced to shut down development.
-
Warhammer online, all its good, new ideas and features were consumed by a large, more "traditional" mmo, something most dont use is collision tho, which was cool in warhammer.

Well some people are trying to revive Warhammer Online. The project is called Return of Reckoning. However, the game is quite outdated why it is hard to get interested of it once again.

Is Camelot Unchained the next one?
EDIT: 7 years of development and now devs have made a promise to deliver a test in 90 days where servers can last whole 3 days without crash... Legendary.
