Game Mechanics I want to see

Grappling Hooks: I think it would be cool to have grappling hooks in game as it would allow for vertical movement and swing mechanics in game.
Limb Targeting: Another cool mechanic I would love to see is the limb targeting that some games have tried. It wouldn't have to be for all mobs but for larger mobs such as dragons or giants some kind of limb mechanic would be awesome. Another cool thing to go with that would be the ability to climb larger bosses and hack off pieces of the boss!

I don’t know about a lot vertical movement, since this game is isometric, but using grappling hooks to swing through forests of caves would be fun.
As for limb targeting, this is always nice, but I think the devs should only spend their time implementing this on larger creatures, since it won’t make as much of a difference with smaller ones.
-
hmm limb targeting would be cool but I feel like implementing good grappling hooks would b hard ( not that I don't wanna see it ) * im gonna be the next spiderman
-
@wolfkomodo46 Absolutely! limb targeting only makes sense on larger creatures. I'm thinking dragons and giants and other larger mobs possibly even just boss mobs that are larger.

as Wolfkomodo46 pointed out its an isometric game so maybe vertical movement maybe limited but a game that did isometrics and had A LOT of vertical depth was "Seven: the days long gone" so we might have to wait and see how the devs create the environment in this game

yes this would be cool espetialy if we will have like mountains to climb. i have see demon was jumping of the rock so i assumed we could have like high arias and low arias. that would be cool.

i think to be able to implement this the bosses themselve have to use limp mechanic like dragons can attack by tails or by front leg. and if you hurt their tail then they will stop using it.

Would love ressources changing according to season, and seasons also being different every time.
Like they did in swg, making crafting and gathering a much more implemented and whole part of the game.

I think they mentioned that night time will have actual gameplay effects but so far no mentioned about seasons! would be cool to have seasonal effects as well, for sure!
-
@jasperdk I'd like to see seasonal stuff - we already know that there are varied weather options - so seeing snow encroach further towards the equator in winter, and having winter biome plants follow, would be fun.
Of course, nothing says you have to stick to earth seasons - Tartaros having a season where fire falls out of the sky regularly, for example, instead of the normal acid rain.

Limb targetting works more for games like monster hunter (3rd person) rather than isometric. Just imagine hitting some random limb in an isometric game. The positioning is weird and there is no "feeling" to hitting the right spot. This is why you usually don't see it in isometric games. Instead there are "mobs" or other things you have to kill/target. Limbs become something that can't be exactly aimed at in isometric games (or very hard to implement well).
TL:DR there are better substitutes for limb targetting.

That would be so cool! and they can make it so we get hurt if were outside during the fire rain!
-
@althalus if you don't have proper fire protection, it's probably wise to stay in, yes.
but, of course, some resources only grow in Fire Season, so it can be worth it to take the risk - you'll only find a fire egg clutch in a fire storm, for example - they hatch once the rain stops. If you want a Diablos Omlette, you'll need to take a risk. XD Or, maybe the Fire Drake only molt in a fire storm, and cold air turns the shed skin brittle, so you need to get the skin in the storm, if you want to make Fire Wurm armor (while not the toughest, it's capacity to resist heat is unparalleled! ...says the tag line)
-
@therippyone I LOVE all of those ideas!!!
-
@therippyone When you mentioned the egg, I started wondering. If we do end up getting the taming stretch goal, are we going to be able to hatch creature eggs?
For example, in one of these fire rain events, or even an eclipse, maybe you could go fight a dragon boss and get an egg, or maybe even steal the egg from the dragon. Then maybe you would have to drop it into a fire or something and slowly hatch it and help it grow.
-
@wolfkomodo46 even if we dont get taming stretch goal it would still be a cool idea they could implement with pets!
-
Don't see how this can be done in an isometric top-down game, which it should stay. Aiming at limbs - you need 3rd person view. For hooks you need fully unlocked rotatable camera, plus that may be plagiarizing a bit?
-
Imo grappling hooks don't really fit into a medieval type game.. sure maybe a spell with which you can hook enemies but a spell to jump around in forests or mines? This ain't spiderman guys.

That would be cool. Hatch a mystery egg!

@wolfkomodo46 liked this!
