Slow combat vs Fast combat
-
So I just wanted the consensus on what everyone thinks about the combat of the game. Should it stay relatively slow like the champions of norrath/ baldurs gate dark alliance games where tactics and teamwork mean something or should it be a quick spamfest like diablo 3? Clearing whole maps in a matter of minutes. Personally I prefer the slow dangerous combat and exploration. It makes the world more enjoyable for me.

@dagimir Depending on your combination of skills, you will be able to instantly kill the enemy, just have to find his approach (set fire to it, freeze, etc.). I'm more for the Diablo 3 system, but only when you're strong enough.
-
@muker Killing a single enemy is one thing. diablo 3 you are literally clearing hordes of enemies in less than a second. Its really repetitive and boring.
Check out some gameplay here of each:

diablo:

@dagimir Grinders no
I played it for more than 1400 hours, which is a small time. Yes, there to die a monster, but I said that Fractured it will have to collect a certain build, hitting the enemy's weak points
-
@dagimir In order to allow for reasonable cooperation during combat, it should not be too fast. Additionally it will be impossible for casual player to cooperate with professionals, if combat becomes too fast and a non-negligible part of the community would be driven out of cooperative fighting.
-
Hum We already bad-ass since we're "full level" at the beginning so it probably don't take some time to kill a monster target.
But if we want to have some fun party it will be necessary to have some hard time to kill monsters sometimes
-
I think Overwatch has a good TTK (time to kill).
If someones a bum, I want to be able to kill them and dispatch of their loot quickly.
But a good fight between two quality players could go on for a minute or two.
-
I watched the first pre-alpha game play video and I asked about TTK and in the live Q&A @Prometheus said that it was faster while in testing but the TTK will be lower when the game is released.
-
@jetah Good to hear! Time to kill should be slower to allow for co-op gameplay to use tactics.
-
Slower speed gives room for some actual tactics
-
ttks are often affected by dodge factors and hp amount maybe world ai.
-
I'd enjoy both combat styles. As a veteran Diablo And PoE enthusiast, clearing areas super fast is my speciality, and I've seen it work.
I would also love to experiment with the slow, dangerous combat, which you have to think about to clear well. I would also love to see a hybrid of these two, with some areas hard and slow to clear, and some areas fast af.
-
I am not the youngest anymore and not a fan of really fast combat games as my reaction speed isn't the best anymore, so I prefer somewhat slower combat. But seeing the gameplay video the combat looks a bit too slow right now.
-
Devs said skills will matter, so it will for sure not be a zerg spam fest.
I estimate something between slow and medium, comfortable for PvP.
(We can also see this in released game play videos.)
-
in PVE i would like it to be just little slower then D3 but with some elements of slow fighting, so i will say a combination.
in PVP it should be slow fighting.
-
I'd prefer it to be slower paced like an actual mmorpg instead of an arpg considering it is an mmorpg that's adopted qualities/mechanics from arpgs.
-
Slow and tactical for me.
-
@logain vs player and vs boss it should be slow, but normal pve should be fast.
-
The combat is slow , I agree but its tactical game so it should be a little bit slow that the other games .
-
important is that is skill based, i wanna see skillshots
