RE: [Poll] City Reputation System
I chose the 'I dunno' option because my desire for this feature would vary greatly depending on how this idea got implemented.
Done well, this would add a LOT to the game for me, and I truly appreciate @Gothix raising the suggestion
But @Jetah's concern about how this would be done w/o grind is well-founded. Not impossible to avoid, but an important proviso.Defining the word 'grind' so we all know what we're avoiding is an important first step. For some, any interaction that doesn't result in a PvP victory or loot acquisition is 'grind' by definition. Those folks will be impatient about gathering crafting mats, while for someone else who enjoys crafting, gathering is a feature, not a bug. That discussion will probably require a separate thread tho

RE: CANT PLAY
This is a known problem, and I believe it's part of the reason they're doing this stress test. It usually takes me at least 3 tries to get in, but then I can play.
Definitely annoying, to be sure, but (unless your graphics card or modem are the problem) it just requires patient persistence to get through.

RE: Races and playstyles
@Bryserker - it's important to know that a player who has bought this game will be able to create more than one PC. My understanding is that each basic account is allowed 3 player characters. So it's not as though you have to make an ultimate choice re playstyles...
My personal plan is to begin with an Arboreal PC, bc I enjoy cooperative, building, and PvE stuff most, but I already know I'll want to have a Human PC eventually, since those have more latitude and will probably have a larger player base. Hoping that watching the Human culture/guild politics develop while I grow my Beastling will ensure that I don't make too many rookie errors where they'd be far more costly than in a PvE setting.

RE: Alpha 2 new info, what has made you excited?!
So many ideas getting flesh on them is exciting for me. Alpha 1 was about basic mechanics and UI - things that will look a lot like many other mmorpgs to someone who hasn't read the wiki or faq. Alpha 2 is about making some of what makes Fractured different manifest.
I won an alpha key for 1.2, but wasn't able to get into the game world bc of UI issues. It was discouraging, so I haven't been pushing to try to win another key for Alpha 2.1. I figured I'd let them sort out all that and join in the beta I paid for.
Now the blog post the devs sent out is tempting me to try again. I posted that update on the GOTA refugee fb page where I recruited 11 others. We'll see if they're tempted too...

RE: [A2.2.0] No Permission Settings for some Structures
@Kralith - I'm hoping that @Prometheus and the Devs will update this for T3. I'd really like to be able to set my fireplace as 'public', so weary travelers can cook a meal and get some rest even if I'm off exploring (as I plan to be doing A LOT OF THAT )
Easy enough to 'lock' my chest of valuables w/o keeping someone from just hanging out safely.

RE: Becoming an angel
There are those for whom the Role Play aspect is as important as any specific encounter, so backstory would be a thing for those ppl. I love RPG, but I'm doubtful that there will be many who stay 'in character' while they play Fractured.
I haven't done the research to grok how a PC that had clawed its way from Demonic to Angelic would differ in 'everyday game chances/experience' from a PC who started out Lawful Good and stayed that way, but maybe someone will unpack that for us...?

RE: ETA on developer forum?
@Eurav said in ETA on developer forum?:
I mean, they already "promised" it in April....
The timeline for development is years-long, and players who have ponied up $$ have already agreed to be patient about delays, but the thing that will kill the trust those early investors have is if promises are forgotten.
Delays are to be expected - no reasonable person will walk away fuming if things don't happen according to a strict timeline. What would make a reasonable person lose trust is if a promise that has been made gets denied ("We never said that" when there's a link to you saying that) or questions about a promise get ignored.
I didn't sign on at that level so I'm just waiting on the beta, but folks who have donated based on the expectation of a developers' forum that was meant to have happened by now deserve some word from devs re ETA.

RE: Blind Gamer Plays WoW, CoD, MK11, D3 through Sound
@Gothix said in Blind Gamer Plays WoW, CoD, MK11, D3 through Sound:
I still think it would be way too big investment, for something like this to be done pre-release.
If game is successful enough, alongside the upgrades later on, part by part, sure.
+1 This is exactly the kind of aspirational update that's great to have on the devs' radar, so the development trajectory can avoid putting in obstacles.
Even if it's not financially justifiable to make these features available in alpha/beta, there are decisions being made now that can make the features needed by folks who are blind/deaf/etc either easier or harder to deploy in the long run. So thanks for raising the question even if it doesn't end up being part of the initial release.

RE: ETA on developer forum?

@Specter said in ETA on developer forum?:
Prometheus wants to add the developer forum but he's so busy right now he's unable to make time for it. In the meanwhile, maybe we can discuss what you would like to see in this developer forum. Many questions are already being answered in the other parts of the forum by Znirf and me, and updates are already being posted in the Fractured news section. What could the devs do to make this exclusive section unique and valuable to backers like you?
I actually wondered about that as well. Questions are already answered in this public Forum / in the Discord, and there is already the Monthly Dev Q&A as an upcoming System to improve that even further.>
New content is being publicly announced via the Content Pills and other announcements, so what you could do is give an insight on the process of making the content / game.So it seems that the devs included something in their Exclusive Expensive Package w/o having a very clear sense of what that thing was going to be Funny yoomons!
Well-played to ask the folks who bought the thing what they'd LIKE for it to be!
I didn't buy the Exclusive Expensive Package - I'm just following this thread out of prurient interest. @deusex2 makes an excellent point: if we wanna start playing this game soonest, asking the devs to add a weekly thing to their schedule isn't gonna help that happen faster.
One suggestion that might not be too hard to implement is borrowed from a game called Star Trek Timelines by DisruptorBeam: a weekly vid of 2-5 min length done by a rotation of the devs at work on the game. The weekly dev vid was a window into that particular person's work & process - they could choose one thing they're really proud of or want backer feedback on.
When STT was in development, those vids were VERY popular and widely discussed. They gave each of the dev team a space to 'shine' (but also a space that interested persons could make comments on). If a member of the dev team only had to do one every couple of months, it wouldn't eat into their daily biz in any significant way, but the potential for 'visibility' of any task they decide on could create a positive incentive to do work worthy of sharing.
Perhaps the Expensive Exclusive package might have access to those videos first, and the rest of us plebes wait a month or so to view and comment on them? What do y'all think? Do-able?

RE: I Like banana
I like beer. Not with bananas, ordinarily, but there's probably a porter out there that would work fine.
