That is indeed how a roadmap should look like! I wish other indie Kickstarter titles would have had something like that! Kudos to Dynamic!

@evolgrinz said in Cosmetic cash shop, RMT and p2w.:
P2W means that there are items in the cash shop that are better than you can find in-game and the only way to get them is to pay real money.
I totally agree - this is the definition of p2w.
Ok, now you've got me curious!
If you can purchase 'units' in a strategy game, but these units can be 'created' over time as well, that means it wouldn't be 'pay to win' according to your definition, right?
Despite the fact that the person who bought 1000 offensive troops could likely raid me into the ground on day 1, where I had zero chance to have a comparable army to defend myself, unless I spent real life cash as well? -
RE: How can i enter the pre alpha?
@meninodeouro said in How can i enter the pre alpha?:
In my opinion it would be good if they announced the beginning of the pre-alpha, probably for some who are already guaranteed it does not matter, but I'm sure that for those who can not participate, the announcement the beginning of the pre Alpha is worth a lot.
It matters to everybody, even the people who are going to participate in it. Since it is a public signal of progress, which is incredibly important for a company that requires community funding.

RE: Kickstarter Update - Stretch Goals Revealed
I like the fact that there are backer number rewards and both the dungeon and lich sound interesting!

RE: Suggestion about hunger/thirst
@gothix said in Suggestion about hunger/thirst:
(...)Challenging is something that requires skill(...)
I'm going to use chess here as an example. I'd say chess is a challenging game, because if you want to have any chance of success, you need to plan ahead with your moves against a half decent opponent. So, requiring you to plan ahead due to restriction can be a challenging but rewarding experience to some.
Food/water is a good example in this case, since if used as restriction, it means you have to plan ahead before extending into different territory, just like you'd want to plan properly before heading into the desert or arctic, or heck even on a longer trip into the wilderness, unless you know that you can find the food and shelter in that wilderness. -
RE: What type of game is this?
Fractured is (or seems to be) centered around the idea of horizontal progression. You won't level up, or get much stronger, instead, you gain diversity. With that in mind, and the fact that you gain knowledge/unlock new abilities by fighting different creatures (but a low amount of time) and exploring, each fight has to be more meaningful then the usual 'grind them by the thousands'.
Does that help you in some way? -
RE: Kickstarter Is Over! What's Next?
Guess it's waiting till 15th August!

RE: The psychology of gaming
@mrchipps said in The psychology of gaming:
(...)I'll start and say that my favorite memories of games of old was the need to find other players to accomplish almost impossible tasks. The feeling of spending days working on something to finally see it through was a rush that kept me motivated. That coupled with the myth of items that I may have seen a few times, achievements, areas that most people couldn't get to, keep me going. I love to step ahead of other people and do things most people say are impossible. I would gladly smash my head on something 1000 times if one of those times I learned one small thing and progressed.
I'm very much the same there. In my first MMORPG ever, I had a group of dedicated friends and we managed to get to spots that nobody else had ever seen. Amusingly enough, not even the developers had seen one of the spots we reached (one teleported to us once and asked where we were and how we'd been getting there
).
@finland said in The psychology of gaming:
(...)Balancing everyinthing means that all spells are similar. It's nearly impossible to balance 400 totally different spells, especially if you can combine them like you wish 400^8. Accept It.
It depends if you want to go for symmetric or asymmetric balance. Since skills are supposed to be highly situational in Fractured, you don't need symmetric balance (and Prometheus even mentioned that in the Q&A video, by stating that one build could easily beat another under certain circumstances), it is enough if they balance out in the great scheme.

(...)That is why we should not worry about how the devs can handle the possible stretch goals(...)
Chronicles of Elyria, Star Citizen, No Man's Sky,... there are many examples of projects where players definitely have to worry about the budget and scheduling of a game.

RE: Unity has blocked SpatialOS - What's up and what it means for us
Looks like high time for a news post explaining and detailing the resolved situation and the future strategy (together with the forum downtime) to instill confidence for the customers again. Considering that funding increased by a whooping β¬20 in the last 6 days

RE: July 3rd Survival & Travel Q&A: List Your Questions
If one race/alignment opens a stargate on one planet leading to another, can others use this as well and are they bidirectional? (E.g. evil human opens stargate to Tartaros, can good Beastman use that to go from Syndesia to Tartaros as well and can Demons use that to go from Tartaros to Syndesia)

RE: How many channels will there be if implemented?
@Tuoni said in How many channels will there be if implemented?:
(...)I bet SBI did not have enough (...) resources to handle so massive start(...)
That should (in theory) be a massive advantage of SpatialOS. Where other companies have fixed amount of hardware, Fractured is highly scalable (in theory).

@Phaethonas said in Unity has blocked SpatialOS - What's up and what it means for us:
(...)after blowing this to extreme proportions they announced a joint fund with Unity's competitor to incite developers to change engines(...)
Out of curiosity, what would you have done in their situation?
-
RE: what do you like to see next from the developers?
I'd want them to take the steps they announced (survey, store, pre-alpha) in the time frame they announced after a nice relaxing holiday. And once we saw pre-alpha, a little more detailed road-map to Alpha 1.

RE: When is the Knowledge System being tested?
The development roadmap explains why the knowledge system is being implemented later in the development cycle: '(...)As much as weβd love to have it already in Test 1, thatβs hardly possible, since it requires all the other systems to be in place (with a decent amount of content) to make sense. You need plenty of creatures to interact with, locations to explore, and so on.(...)'. Just give them more time, after all Alpha means 'not yet feature complete'!

RE: Alpha 1 - Test 2 Is Live!
Bugs are part of alpha testing, that's to be expected, don't worry
And thanks for the Alpha 2 release, keep rolling! -
RE: What can we learn from other similar pojects?
Provide a solid, reasonable prediction and manage to accomplish your milestones by the time you intended to. This includes calculating with 'unforeseeable delays' and not promoting 'best case' schedules.
There are enough other Kickstarter projects that are seen as 'this game is never going to release', I don't think you want that stigma. -
RE: Min/Max'ing and crafting/fighting
@Jetah said in Min/Max'ing and crafting/fighting:
i'd say min-max is best done closer to the release because systems and formulas can change.
Pity that I could only upvote that once.
Trying to min max the game now is completely moot. It's about getting the features working for the developers right now, not balancing them, or even setting proper values. -
RE: Alpha 2 - Test 2 Launch Day Revealed
@Prometheus said in Alpha 2 - Test 2 Launch Day Revealed:
(...)To get knowledge from a monster you need to deal enough damage to get "loot rights" as if you weren't member of a party(...)
Doesn't that somewhat diminish the value of 'support oriented' characters (which is one of the reasons other games share experience based on other criteria as well in parties)?

RE: 4th planet of angelics: harsh PVE, banned PVP.
You should add an option to vote against your suggestion, if there is to be a poll?
As for not 'impacting the other three MMOs', that's certainly not correct, since both players and items can traverse between the three planets. Hence the whole economy is greatly influenced if you'd add another 'system'.If I could, I'd vote no.
