Bit worried where the Kickstarter is
-
I agree it is a bit concerning, but there's still a chance of it happening within the week!

The relatively low number of backers compared to the size of the community is surely a "disappointment" for us, but not a "worry".
It's good to hear it's not getting you down. You have my full support... worried or not!
-
It's not over till she sings!
$92,477
pledged of $117,196 goal7 days left
Go go!
-
There is no doubt that the final days will see a surge well enough to cover the remaining gap, I am sad that the stretch goals were never brought out. Oh well.
-
Well I'm a bit worried. 7 days is not much and most of the fans that were about to pledge did it already.
I hope the KS campaign reaches at least it's basic goal, but I feel a little bit down.
The amount of backers vs. the amount of community really bugs me.
-
@mazikar agree. Funding is really the most important thing. Stretch goals are icing on the top, but gotta hit that first mark.
-
Just recently found about the game, I'm going to support the kickstarter too, hope we can make it. But it seems that the game will be developed even if we do not make it into Kickstarter, which is a good thing

It is... but crowd funding is both a good way to learn how a community is REALLY feeling about a game (ie: talk on a forum is cheap, actually pledging means a lot more), and also is a great tool for promotion. In this situation, to still be 100s of pledges away from even cracking 1000 is disappointing and I've seen very little 'buzz' out there, or interviews, articles, etc, in the MMO press when this was the prime time for that stuff to be happening. I don't know if the guys have been pitching to the media and just being ignored, or what?
-
@canterbury at least it looks like we achieve the goal (so far), which did not seem to be achieveable some days ago.
-
@Canterbury something I've noticed with the mmo news folks is that unless one of them personally falls in love with a game, or unless it's a monster AAA game, they don't report much about them. Sure they'll do little blurbs like massively and mmorpg does on fractured, but nothing more than basic info. Perhaps one of the best things I heard was from that massively article comparing this to swg. I see the comparisons, and those type of articles would be sure to draw in folks willing to spend some bling.
-
@Canterbury @Esoba the MMO news portals have given us some good coverage, mmorpg.com and massively in particular. More generalist videogame portals haven't. Of course it's also our fault, we don't have a PR agency nor a dedicated PR person, I take care of that and I'm definitely not the best at it. We should have promoted better, but it's no use to cry over spilled milk, also considering that we're going to make it!
-
I am excited that it looks like this is gonna meet it's goal. But counting chickens and all that. Still looking this morning it looks almost like a certainty.
-
Agreed. If the Kickstarter was a day longer I could up my pledge but at this point I've done what I could.
I was banking on my pay coming in in time but that's a waiting game for me. If it clears in time I can up to Knight. In my timezone the Kickstarter ends at 11pm on the 25th. Then my salary will definitely be in.
I am eyeing Immortal, and since the packages will be sold on the website, I'll upgrade my package systematically to that tier. Perhaps higher depending on how I find the game.
-
Yeah, I'm still torn between exactly which way I'm going to go. Since we can upgrade our pledges post KS, and early bird Immortal doesn't save a crazy amount (still a great deal though), I may wait to upgrade to Immortal at a later point. Will cost a tad more, but that's just more funding for them. But, who knows, still may jump up here before it's all said and done.
-
At this point expect big surprises (like x3 5k pack going to cancel the pledge) we are done. But we need to continue spam as we did till now, because the campain is not making itself, every single little act of sharing is building the victory..
-
Woot...congrats. now onward to stretch goals.
-
still worried?

About the overall backers... which if you scroll back through this thread has been my primary concern... yes.
The dollar figure itself was so small there would have been something seriously, seriously wrong if we didn't hit it.
-
I will admit being surprised by the number of backers as well. However, I kinda chop it up to KS fatigue, along with development game fatigue. Plus, there's always the problem of getting the information to the right people who want a game like this. That's sometimes that hardest thing of all.
