@Gothix That is good idea too. Especially those beastmen who are targeting for abomination and move to Tartaros could have quests and tasks related to Demon Syndicate. It would make sense that they need to prove their worth to Babilis, and what would be better way than betray your own race and homeland.

Wether or not the guards are going to attack you depends on the city. The Governor can set who the guards attack on sight / who they donยดt attack, so you can expect to be unable to enter some cities, but be able to enter others while being tagged as Thief / Murderer.
I could not find information about this, but I presume it is related to this:
"Giving orders to the townโs militia (for defense and patrolling purposes)"
Interesting feature and I personally really like, that guards can be given different orders and patrol tasks.

However a thief tag can be hidden I hope. If I loot a person and I get a thief tag and then the guard NPCs attack me that would be a little unfair since the guards dont know that I am a thief yet (they havent seen me rob anyone).
"Flagged as a thief: You get this when stealing from a Good or Neutral player. It lasts for 24 real-world hours, and prevents you from choosing a Good Alignment."
"At least, being Evil is not enough to get you fully cast out of society. Guards on Syndesia let you enter towns, for instance, and some NPCs devoted to not-so-legal activities might even take a special interest in you."
I presume thiefs are treated as evils in this kind of situation, so NPC guards would not attack automatically criminal players.

RE: Alpha 1 Launch Announced
I do not see Albion as a total failure or their devs unprofessional. I was personally disapointed the curve of development and imo they made some wrong choises which might led them to loose more players than actually expected. However, they have introduced fine new patches and made some fixes to gamedesign. Now their course has seen the bottom and its going up again. This F2P model is not ideal for sure, but will most certainly help to get new blood into the game.

RE: Race/class customization
The profile you made is linked for foundation program and forums, and yes, you can as a demon join only to demon guilds. How this will be in game is still a little bit open. But no worries, you can edit your current profile anytime so you can join any guild you want.
There is basically 3 planets in Fracured. So every races (demon, human, beastman) has own home planet with own rules to cater different players and playstyles. You can travel to other planets as well, but in most cases just temporarily. So the planets are divided in this way:
-
Beastmen - Planet Arboreus - Targeted to PvE centric players. In this planet happens very little PvP and in most parts it will be totally restricted.
-
Human - Planet Syndesia - Targeted to PvX centric players who likes both PvE and PvP, and are ready to live with Lawfull PvP with restrictive PvP rules. Basically your hostile action against lawful players will have consequences.
-
Demon - Planet Tartaros - Targeted to hardcore minded PvP players. There is no restrictions for PvP and everyone is free for all.
So basically three planets, three playstyles. You can read more from news section. I suggest to read at least those Feature Spotlight series to get more information.
Here is more about Races
Here is more about Planets
Here is more about PvP
You will be locked with your race which might set some limitations in practise, especially what it comes to "class" choises. Fractured actually has classless system so we can see a lot of different kind of combinations of healer, support, damage, and tank.

@Tuoni Some missions would require some degree of cooperation among demons of different types, but will be still doable without them.
This was interesting idea.. Maybe some quests does not need to be doable without other races and people would need to think their group composition before entering a dungeon for example.
@FallenW1ng said in New NPC Faction: Demon Hunters:
I like the idea of making the NPC "invasions" more prominent in Arboreous. That would make sense from the PVE side of things.
I liked that idea too. That Demon faction does not need to be the main antagonist for Beastmen, but it would make sense that some Demon syndicate tries to break through to planet Arboreus and Beastmen players will of course try to stop that. It would most certainly give meaningful and lore wise PvE content, and it would be easy to build stories, quests, dungeons and raids around that theme.

Does anyone know of any in depth info on how farming is going to work?
There has been very little information how farming is going to work as a profession. I personally hope it will be somehow semi-complex and there will be a lots of different kind of stuff to farm. Vegetables, crops, herbs, animals (cattle&mounts) and stuff like that.

RE: Love PvP but like to play human?
@blyce It would be reasonable to read from website's news section at least all Feature Spotlight series. When you understand better the world and rules, then you can have better picture what Fractured is about and how PvP works in this game. There is few links at the end of this post you could check out.
If you want to play as a human, then your home planet will be Syndesia. In there will be 'lawful PvP' rules, which means your hostile actions against lawful players will have consequences. You can loose karma points and you can be marked as a thief or a murderer. Now you will be an easy target for everyone and there might even be a bounty promised of your head.
Humans can travel to Demon planet Tartaros and Beastmen planet Arboreus, but you can stay there only limited amount of time. In Tartaros there is 'lawless PvP', which means no PvP rules at all and you are free to attack anyone without any consequences. In Arboureus in other hand PvP is highly restricted. In most of the lands it is impossible and in minor part it has made hard with punishing debuffs and very limited time.
It is hard to explain the whole PvP ruleset, because there is so much involded, but I hope this summary of mine and what others told before, gave you some idea. Go check at least these links below to learn more.

RE: Game Mechanics that I encountered in a Webnovel and would like to see incorporated into MMOs (including this one)
Here is how I see what is the situation in Fractured and how I think how these points should be implemented.
Skills
Skills (or abilities) will be unlocked via exploring, adventuring and questing.Lifestyle Players
It would be nice if all aspects of the game would actually be meaningful and have a good amount of content. Too many times in MMOs, other than combat related stuff are only side activities. In Sandbox games it would be nice if all aspects of game would be important and as equal as possible. So player can be full-time crafter, farmer, merchant, gatherer and still be meaningful part of the world.Combat System
Fractured will have skill based combat with good amount of skillshots and taking advantage of the environment.Dungeons & Raids
Most of (or maybe even all) dungeons and raids will be in open world and not instanced so the ranking system won't go like you described. So most likely there won't be different ranks like easy, hard, hell.. So dungeons just have one degree of difficulty, but maybe this can be covered with implementing more floors inside the dungeon to raise the danger level.Questing
In Fractured, quests are not working like in Themepark games I presume. I know there will be tasks inside abilitites, but not sure how much there will be actual quests. I hope we will see some quests, but nothing like basic fetch, kill or collect. Long meaningful questlines with great rewards at the end would be cool. Also if the players choises could affect to environment like in Ashes of Creation, that would be really nice feature.Death
Negative impacts for stats and experience would be absolutly horrible idea. Most of players would hate this kind of system. Having full loot rules upon death will be enough penalizing trust me.PvP
This is not in line with Fractured's PvP.Player based towns
There will be a lot of this kind of possibilities.NPC based towns
I don't know what will be related to this, but.. I think there could be NPC towns for capturing or maybe a town could become NPC town if NPC faction manages to siege it (only in Arboreus because PvP conquers can not happen). -
RE: Max players per server/instance/screen?
@Jetah said in Max players per server/instance/screen?:
@Tuoni
if bots take 2x more resources than a human client and the server can support 500 bots then it can support 1000 players.without servers/realms i fully expect some type of instancing to load balance the population.
If bots would be the solution then MMOs would not have performance problems and they would not need player made stress tests, but they still have both. With bots, I can imagine how you can create some kind of testing environment to stress the server itself. What you can not get with bots is still the real situation where players are all over the world connected from different starting points with different devices and different connections. So games will still need the real user point of views. So it is really important to gather individual player experiences and precise feedbacks, which can not be replaced by using bots. So it does not matter how much resources one bot can take. In addition, I would not give exact resource capacity (x2 human client) to one bot. Bots can scale what it comes to their performances, resources and contents.
-
RE: Max players per server/instance/screen?
Wowwow! Hold on guys.. Testing with bots is never same as testing with real players. Sure you can make some informative testing, but more like to show some direction. And what it comes to Camelot Unchained, they have worked with own custom engine so they could manage and survive through the huge stress what those planned massive PvP battles will cause.

RE: New NPC Faction: Demon Hunters
@Meiki well yeah, I especially liked that scouting quest idea. That would suite perfectly for the theme, because Demon Hunters are hiding and demons really wants to find their hideouts and bases. I would like to see hidden dungeon entrances what can be find via exploring. Maybe a quest can tell the region, but not the exact position. These hidden entrances could also change and not be at same place everytime. This would also promote exploring and that way create more open world PvP encounters.
On top of that it would be easy to link especially perception related abilities and their progression tasks to Demon Hunters.

RE: Profile Picture bug?
@Lucio Yeah this helped for me as well. However, later it changed automatically back to old one again. I guess there is also some issues if you use multiple devices. I have at the moment different pictures with different devices and I am not sure which one shows to others and when.. So I just forgave on this one.
-
RE: Max players per server/instance/screen?
Yeah it sounds, but It still can be messed up with wrong decisions. Server administrations easily promises something what they can't actually keep in practise. A lot of people, at the same area, at the same time and the performance problems will start. Very common issue with MMOs.

RE: Max players per server/instance/screen?
I found this from SpatialOS website:
"good fit for my project?
964263aa-large-player-dark@2x-240x240
For Any Multiplayer Game
SpatialOS is for any game where players interact in real time, including session-based games (i.e. games where matches begin and end during one play session) and persistent worlds. Instances of these games work for any number of players in a single instance; from 2 to 10000โs" -
RE: Max players per server/instance/screen?
@USAINBOLT If I construe that picture right, there is planned to be about 60 servers worldwide. So I presume 100 players max / server would be quite low and only 6000 players in total. Thats quite small playerbase so we could presume it be closer 1000 / server or what you think?
