@lovechildbell It's also not quite right, I think? You can go to neutral, if you want, last I checked - mine is certainly heading in that directions, given who she worships (the human goddess of luck). You are treated as a demon if you go into negative morale, but I don't think you get bapped for having "less good" morality.

RE: sound effects in fractured?
@gothix I wasn't thinking about pvp specifically, though I could see someone in one of the eclipse raid dropping a nuke, critting it, while a group is being cornered/weakened by other people, and just lucking into an epic multi-kill. I was actually thinking of PvE, especially if you lure a lot of monsters into a small area and drop an epic hammer on them. still, getting 20 monsters together is a bit of a feat, let alone doing it in a way that lets you one-shot them all, so, that's what I picked out as a spitball number.

I can say that I have NOT received an invitation yet.... checks in box... clicks refresh a couple times and a F5 for good measure.... nope, not yet.

RE: sound effects in fractured?
@genobee I wouldn't mind a "Holy ****" said in the voice of one of the five good~ish deities if you managed a truly impressive slaughter (Bablis, meanwhile, is like "nice"); a blood letting so massive that it excited comment from the gods. Of course, that would require a really impressive murder streak - something that is actually really uncommon (maybe you put the god voice on a timer - if someone detonated 20 enemies at once, the gods say something, but they won't comment on that again for 24 hours - you need to detonate at least 23 enemies simultaneously to get the response again, which also resets the timer; each time the timer expires, the "godly expectation" number falls by one - so if the last comment was for 25, tomorrow it will be for 24, and the next will be for 23, until it goes back to the minimum of 20) - make it a little special easter egg.

RE: Will Animation Cancelling become a combat mechanic one day?
@target So, we are in violent semi-agreement then! And, yes, that was an example of taking advantage of conditioning - didn't bother to use the term, since it was pretty clear in the example what I was talking about - but I do know it. And I do appreciate that not all conditioned responses are feints, though I do think this instance counts XD
Much like you were trying to note that animation cancelling was for more than dps, I was trying to point out that a similar result could be achieved without animation canceling.
Also much like you, I don't really advocate for a position on this either - EXCEPT that I want the devs to make the call at the start for which, if any, of the skills should have an animation cancel, and what this means, in terms of gameplay. I do not want a bug that becomes a feature because it is too much work to fix, and the follow on 2 to 3 revisions as the devs nerf and buff to fix the resulting imbalance because skills don't work the way they were intended.

RE: Will Animation Cancelling become a combat mechanic one day?
@target all correct, but I wouldn't necessarily say required. For example, since we know that each skill is going to have 3 variations, if you have a skill family that all starts the same, but have different endings, you get a similar result. For example, I'm going to spitball a skill called "Laser"
Laser 1 does exactly what you'd think - straight shot in one direction, very fast, pierces, but it has a slight wind-up, as a balance to it's power. Character poses for .1 seconds, that's their opponent's sign to dodge left or right.
Laser 2 is where this get's interesting - it's a forked beam. does more damage if both hit (only possible at extremely close range), less damage if only 1 hits, doesn't pierce - but it also tags out people who make the normal dodge decision for Laser 1, and has the exact same wind-up timing and pose as Laser 1 - basically it's a trade in power for the utility of snookering an opponent. Aiming is a stone plated pig, but a master gets a viable weapon, and all the others using the much simpler to aim Level 1 keeps the surprise viable the first time you fight someone.
Laser 3, isn't really one, but more of an auto-homing plasma ball for massive damage, with a wind-up of .3 seconds - and it's disrupt-able - you take any damage in the wind-up, you spend the (considerable) mana cost and launch no attack. But it looks, at the start, like the other 2, you just hold the pose longer. Problem - most dodges last .2 seconds - unless your opponent dodged instantly, there is a non-zero chance you'll launch this sucker before they can get a damage ability out to peg you, because we are playing without animation cancels in this scenario, unless the opponent is an archer, and thus have a 0 speed ranged attack. Won't ever be able to pull the move off again in this fight without some serious mucking, but you did just get off a guaranteed hit for massive damage - not a bad nuke. The balance assumes no animation canceling (At least on dodges), and revolves around people being more familiar with the lower levels to perform an effective feint to get the skill out. It's a Batman Gambit move, in essence - you make a play based on what you know the opponent will do, because the previous two levels trained them to do the single worst thing they could against this one, run away.
I'd honestly be a bit worried about fairness, except you can't use more than 1 variation, so you can't chuck Level 3, and then spam level 1 to get back that trained reflex - that's also a balance. You want to use it more often? Build a skill set that let's you stay safe for that duration. And watch out for archers, who can poke with both speed and range, and anyone using a poke-nova (a spell with low damage but massive AoE - something to find you, or at least disrupt you because it hits Everything; At which point your goal is to trick someone into spending their nova and then take advantage of it's cooldown to get your shot off. more skill in playing, less "skill" from in-game "power"). Conversely, your opponent might consider using 1 of the few dodges that are shorter than normal (in both distance and time taken), so they are fast enough to dodge a level 1, don't go far enough to run afoul of the level 2, and comes out of it fast enough to actually close on you if it's actually level 3. Hope your tool kit can handle that! XD
And that would be the point - the ability to craft a viable custom skill set, that plays in a way that the player likes, while at the same time preventing any build from being "the best" build. Having animation cancels to produce feints is one option, but it is far from the only one - what needs to happen, is that the devs need to decide what they want the balance to be - animation cancels encourage faster play, while locked animations require more precise play (because a miss leaves you more vulnerable when you can't get out of it). One isn't better than the other, though I'm sure everyone will have a preference. And you are perfectly right that you don't need to have a cancel on every skill - Might be more interesting if only 1 or 2 schools could do it, for example; assassin comes to mind XD - but I much rather have the decision be a decision, with the devs walking into it with open eyes, rather than the way it seems in most cases, where something went wrong, and they decided to call the bug a feature.

RE: What MMO are you coming from??
well, I'm in Dofus, mildly into Mabinogi, Wakfu, Path of Exile, and previously into The Secret World, SMT: Imagine, and Guild Wars. I've vaguely touched on WoW, Everquest, and Ultima Online. There are a half dozen others (most Aeria XD ) that I touch for a weekend or two and then bailed on.
I loved the style, customization, storytelling, and combat of TSW. I've loved the customization of SMT: Imagine. Dofus, I loved for the variety and strategic combat. Mabinogi I loved for the freedom, and hated for the grind XD
WoW and Everquest were never my bag. Ultima could have been, but the grind got to me. Failing to light a fire 20 times got on my nerves XD
I looked at Fractured for the freedom and customization - let's hope the game play lives up to the hype.

@terhi would you enjoy it more if they had different sounds, not just for each sort of weapon, but what each one sounds like hitting different types of materials?

RE: Will Animation Cancelling become a combat mechanic one day?
@jetah It is, but the DoTa 2 devs have, as Target noted, balanced around them - the ones that can't cancel out because their big damage is at the end, now do more damage over all, compared to those that do more damage early on - it becomes a reasonable risk reward. Still would prefer the devs to have fixed it when it first became apparent, but they went a different way...

RE: Will Animation Cancelling become a combat mechanic one day?
I'd say that, almost assuredly it won't be intentional, and equally likely some amount of this will appear - the bigger question is "will it mean anything?" for example, if you can cancel out out of a big nuke, but the way the damage catalyzes means you can't do anything useful with the extra time, then it's useless. more to the point, most of the moves are going to be near perfect effect time to animation time - there's a lot of emphasis in the fight videos on precision. if there is an advantage, it isn't going to be by a lot, and the nature of play means that it will mean less.

RE: Lich Transformation unlocked!
@xionmuteki Also, since humans are "free," lich may not the only path of evolution for them, though this is purely speculation. However, we do know more species are planned - a lion and crocodile beast-kin have been mentioned by the devs at various points, and it seems likely that the demons will get some similar efforts, if these plans go through at all. Given all that...
but to get that far, we need to make this game a success, so go gather some friends and bring them on over XD

RE: An idea for a Wolf Support/Druid character from a new member in the community and an avid wolf lover.
To add to what Gofrit said, Conjuration is also charisma or intelligence based, and is used to summon creatures. So, what you could do is summon a wolf, so you have something to buff when out of party, use illusions to bolster your party, along with warfare's morale buffs, and pack out a restoration and/or abjuration, to round out the buffs, and maybe a necromatic or rogue poison to bolster your warfare attack. Leaves 1 or 2 skills to round yourself out for a general build.
I'd disagree about going strength over perception, but that's more taste, and what your final attack choice is. Strength will let you carry more though.

RE: Runescape-like safe bank/storage.
@chrightt Strictly speaking, 90% of your loot is going to be safe 90% of the time - the stuff in danger is only what you carry - anything in your house is sacrosanct as long as the house is still standing, and the bank is just a handier (and possibly more expansive) storage location for things you don't want in your house (like the 300 pounds of ore you have that doesn't fit in your mineral bin at your smithy). We're talking about weird edge cases that shouldn't be too common in the actual game. And if you want the extra protection, go live on Arboreus (which is what I'm doing), since there are serious restrictions on besieging towns
(at the moment, the plan is to give a player 24 hours from when they get booted from the town, or when a town is lost to siege, to get their stuff out. probably want to hire some people to guard you while you move your stuff, but it's not an instant loss of everything you own. depending on how that turns out, the value and mechanisms can be changed during alpha/beta/post-release. As I noted above, I'd kind of prefer a pocket storage thing on bounce, lasting 24 hours I guess, but your stuff is weightless, and you can freely get to a new place to set-up in a reasonable way [ie - if you need to clear an area to make a free space, you can])

RE: Runescape-like safe bank/storage.
https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/6809/suggestions/7 has a whole long debate on banking, among other things.
Like @Target said, a bank account that's accessible from multiple towns isn't likely. A basic storage bank does seem likely, however, as do commercial warehouses and the like. We do know that a player has some protections if they're forced out by a governor (ie, if you are exiled, your house isn't immediately open to looters), but I don't think we've had an in-depth explanation of what that means, so, good question, that. I'm hopeful your stuff get's pocket dimensioned for a period of time while you get yourself together, with the option to withdraw from, but not return things to, the pocket space until it is empty, or the time expires, at which point the remaining contents are spilled out at your location (and that time, for this purpose, only passes when you are online).
third hand, since material in bank A isn't associated with material in bank B, and because towns can be destroyed and looted, I rather expect that the bank can be at risk in a number of ways. I am hopeful that the bank ai includes systems like "town is under siege - ask the bank depositors if they'd like to spend money to move to a safer bank" which in turn spawns a quest to hire adventures to safe-guard the the bank's transport cart(s), paying the sum total of the depositors' agreed-to proceeds to them at the end, if it gets to a safe-and-neutral town's bank. Don't pay in (because you think the siege will be lifted, for example), and your stuff stays put when the caravan leaves. Same thing for a delivery service - if you don't want to hup the goods yourself, you need to pay someone or something to hup them for you.
hopefully someone that can survive bandits XD
