RE: Our journey begins today, with you
Hi @Chiengngan06! Fractured will be available in 2018 for high-tier backers, it's currently in pre-alpha.
@Holya if I get your meaning of "in-engine", that's not. Anyway, several more screenshots and eventually videos as well are going to be released in the coming weeks

On a more serious note, though, one of the previous games worked on by some of the Fractured guys got some bad PR from an arguably similar system being abused. I mean, I'm no marketing expert, but overall I assume it did more good than bad.
...and what was this system exactly?

RE: Referral link possible issue.
@HolyAvengerOne we are actually going to run a Kickstarter campaign in the future. It's clearly written in our FAQ and it's been announced to the press as well  Or did you mean "glad you won't do RTM?"
As for the issues Ashes faced, I'd like not to get deeper into the discussion out of respect for a competitor. I just took that info from this article, but it could be wrong of course. It's something we'll discuss ourselves with KS when the time for the campaign comes.

RE: Hey! Interesting progress system, guys.
Welcome to the community @RolanStorm ! We're going to release more detailed info on all game features in the upcoming dev journals - and that includes the knowledge system as well, of course. Stay tuned and make sure your email is verified!

@HolyAvengerOne said in Who are you, devs?:
Any experience from any other games we might have heard of? What's your background?
We're a young team coming from a diverse background - RPGs, mobile games, social games, and indie MMOs as well. We're going to release more information on the team later on in one of our dev journals!
Of course, we are aware it's easier to trust developers who have worked on famous MMO titles - which is not a guarantee of success anyway, as (I guess) you know. That's why we are going to take a different route before hitting Kickstarter: we're going to show you an actual working MMO before asking for money

RE: Operating systems being looked at
@Jairone @HolyAvengerOne Windows, Mac, Linux, although only Windows might be available in early stages. Answers to this and a few others questions here

Please tell me it won't be some multi-level marketing scheme ala AoC?
It won't

@Prometheus Hello Prometheus and thanks for having us #here. While we're on the topic, what's your stance on RMT? Will it be possible to cash out the Fractured dollars acquired through referrals, in the same fashion Ashes of Creation's program plans on allowing, as of today?
Hi @HolyAvengerOne ! This is something we still have to decide, but it doesn't make sense anyway before Kickstarter, since Kickstarter doesn't allow companies to give out cash rewards through referral systems for pledges. That being said, keep an eye on the news, since we're soon going to release the Fractured Ambassador Program and that's going to be very interesting as well

RE: Referral link possible issue.
@Jairone said in Referral link possible issue.:
Took referral link from a long time friend and guild/group leader. No referral code showed up initially. Signed up, and somebody was asking about it. Once logged in, clicking their link showed up the main page with a referral code, but only once logged in.
Please verify that referral links are working correctly!
Hi Jairone, welcome to the Fractured community!
When you open the website clicking on a link containing a referral code, the website "eats" it and stores it as a cookie in your computer for later use. Your account correctly reports another user as your Inviter, and you apparently have some Invitees of your own. You can see how many accounts you are an Inviter of so far at the bottom ("You invited X friends who created a Fractured account").
Hope this has cleared things up!

RE: do we have a discord channel?
@Werkrug said in do we have a discord channel?:
other games are hyping their release using discord and answering questions there in real time sometimes . There is also twitch very used to stream in community roundtable to answer the question of the followers.
It could be an interesting idea or not ?It is, absolutely - and actually, we have already planned to host video/audio community Q&As!
We are going to disclose more details in one of the blog journals / newsletters in the coming weeks, probably at the same time we release our Community Impact System!

Our journey begins today, with you
Hi, fellow gamer! Welcome to Fractured and to our very first developer journal! Today is the day we've decided to make the project public to everyone. Read on if you want to know why we are making Fractured, who we are, and if you want to follow us through this coming long journey.
In the last few years, sandbox MMOs have found a new popularity. A few well-though products have already been announced and are in different phases of their development cycle. We know you know. So why making another one? - you might ask. The answer is easy: because we believe there’s plenty of overlooked room for innovation in the genre. Grinding is still a plague that prevents those of you who don’t have plenty of hours to play each week from enjoying a MMO in full. Controls and combat are often no different from the clichés of the genre that were established 15 years ago. Worlds are mostly static - you’re surrounded by decorations you can’t interact with. Players who prefer cooperation to competition feel punished by game rules. We want to change it all.
We’re a small team here at Dynamight Studios, 5 full-time employees and 3 freelancers as of today. Although we are open to the possibility of incorporating investors in the company in the future, so far we’ve been entirely self-funded. I feel you might be wondering if it’s actually possible for us to create a state-of-the-art MMO. Yes, it is.
Back in the days, only large software houses with massive capitals to invest from day 1 could afford to start developing a MMO and hope to complete it in time. Luckily for us - and for all of you, I’d dare to say - this no longer holds true, as modern engines have dramatically cut the costs associated to the development of any game. This obviously applies to MMOs as well, but the real revolution for the genre is coming today with SpatialOS, a cloud-based world-building platform created by the British technology startup Improbable. That's the technology we've decided to build Fractured on.
Notwithstanding all these new possibilities, it must be said that making a MMO is still a long, tough business, one that takes years of hard work and requires significant economic resources. In this regard too, however, new options have open up to small developers. Crowd-funding through Kickstarter is now a well-established route, and one we absolutely are looking forward to take advantage of in the future.
On the homepage of our portal fracturedmmo.com you can already get a hint of what Fractured has to offer, but we’re well aware that’s not enough. That’s why over the coming weeks we’ll release regular updates detailing all the features of the game in the form of blog entries, videos and art showcases. We’ll also be active on our forums and social media pages on a daily basis, so that all of you will have a chance to speak directly with the team. We want to keep the development of Fractured as transparent as possible and truly involve all of you in the decisional process.
It’s not going to be easy, but with your support, feedback and enthusiasm, we’re sure we’ll be able to make this dream a reality, together.
Per aspera ad astra!
The Fractured Team
