RE: Importance of attributes triggering repetition?
@roccandil said in Importance of attributes triggering repetition?:
repetition != challenge
But the error in your thinking is the following. Game is not designed for you to redo character creation over and over if you are not happy (this is your own choice if you chose to do so).
Game is (or it should be) designed for you to create your character as existing person with inherited predefined personality and attributes, and the challenge is for you to accept those attributes, and then go through the world, learning, and trying to fit in, exploiting your attribute strong sides and affecting the world around you like that, working around your flaws and exploiting your strengths.
Players should be happy they can chose their attributes, rather than getting them randomly (I wonder what you would say then). And if you want a different character, there are several alt slots you can get.
If anyone is not happy with his attributes, he is free to create an alt, or redo the original character, but this should be on him. The game shouldn't get changed because he thinks he should get to redo his attributes like he wishes, when he wishes so.
There are many players (me included) that like the sound of permanent unchangeable attributes.
This means people can not change their attributes on a mood change, or when next cookie cutter build comes along.
It gives value and uniqueness to your character because if you have a certain attribute set, and a lots of knowledge, and you are successful, you know that tomorrow a thousand people can't just change their attribute set to clone you (keeping their current filled up knowledge and skills) and "becoming you".
If people get to change their attributes, Fractured becomes just one more mainstream MMO where people read web, search cookie cutter builds, and change them as they wish. You have a zerg of clones of players running around all wielding same stuff.
I certainly do not want that, and permanent attribute points is one thing that will prevent this. That is one thing i loved about Fractured when I read about this. If attributes will be changeable, Fractured just drops a huge deal in my eyes, and if more things in game get changed along like that whenever players desire so and ask for it, I already see what the game will become, and my wish to play it will just get extinguished.
This is why my attitude is like this. Stuff like this will make or break the game for me. I'm tired of MMOs getting fit to vocal players that demand things because they think things should be in certain way they would like. And game just gets ruined more and more whenever there is an outbreak of player demands in forums.

RE: Healing (spells / potions) with casting time?
I would hope that different types of builds will have some debuff skills which when placed on player (unless he has ability to purge those) reduce an amount of healing done to him by certain percent (lets say 50%).
So if you are able to debuff a player like that (that skill would be important to learn and use for your pvp builds), then even healing potions would be only half as good for him.
Alos that would bring up an importance of having cleansing spells yourself, which in turn would let you have less other type of spells on your skill bar, so more tactics involved overall.
If I would have to guess, there will be different type of potions and healing type spells, some with cast time, some instant heals over time, maybe potions too, so heal over time potions will exist...
Maybe also, purge skills will exist, so you will be able to purge buffs of enemy player if you have that skill, maybe heal over time effects as well.
Variety of spells is always good. Tactics and thought will be more important, the greater variety of spells exist.

Wow, a redesigned main page!
Looks good!
(my first thought was, dang I screwed something up again...)
Also, account guard, nice!

RE: Critical strikes
The more possible combinations, the better. It means there will be much more variety in player builds as well, and maybe, just maybe, we will not end up with hundreds of clones walking around, exactly the same.
But a lots of work needs to be done on balancing different schools, so not all players flock to same type of school, because it's OP compared to others.

RE: I feel that we need an RP server, this game is perfect for that
If someone is interfering in your RP adventures by talking or doing "silly stuff" around you, just RP as he was some "mentally disturbed person talking/doing silly things that make sense only to him" and your RP will be full again. If he is aggressive, it's due to his illness, be careful because disturbed people can be dangerous to themselves and to others.
Quality RP player doesn't care what people around him are doing. He just finds a way to include this in his RP environment.

RE: Attacks speeds depending on armor ?
I think that the way the devs are designing this is a good way.
You can wear any type of armor you want but what you are wearing will determine what spells you can or can not use.
That is a good way that enables balancing.

RE: I want this type of 'environment interaction'!
Skilled archers could shoot an arrow with a rope attached to get across.
Magic users could freeze the water.
Priests with high faith could temporarily walk on water.Warriors could... start swearing and stay on the same side. xD

RE: Dual Wield / Fist Weapons
Yeah, probably different weapons will give different parry chance bonus.
Parry chance could depend on your characters knowledge (if you trained some base passive skills connected with it) and then different weapons could add different amount of parry chance.
Dagger could add very slight parry chance, while sword would add more, for example.

RE: ALPHA 2 ACCESS KEY
If you do not have the pack or the key:
If you purchase Legend Pack, you get Alpha 2 Key.
Or you can purchase one of 2 other packs with whom you get one of the Beta keys.
If you already have the pack, then you do not need to enter key anywhere. You automatically have access, as long as the servers are online and available to play, you should be able to log in.
If you do not have the pack, but you have the key from other source (winning a contest or similar) then go to fractured main page (and be logged in):
Click to your Profile Name, then click on Options.
Then click on Redeem Code (last option in menu), type in your code and click Submit.Your key should now be applied, and as long as game servers are online you should be able to access them.

RE: how do you want your pet and npg?
@grofire said in how do you want your pet and npg?:
@jairone you didn't understand...
In most MMO games, party leader will decide if the loot is personal or anyone in party can take, IMO it's a bad design, I think that only the player should decide if he want the loot or give it to other players in the party. If you are playing with party then everyone hits the mobs at once, and healer heals you keeping you alive. You can not decide for yourself if you "give the loot or no" because it is not your loot to give. It is parties loot. And since everyone contributed to the kill, then loot is distributed according to party loot system, and not your decision.
On the other hand if you are in party, chatting etc, but everyone is killing own mobs without helping each other, then party leader can set the loot to "free for all" and you can loot your own mobs. So no problem there as well.
And in above scenario If party leader is an as..... and he is manipulating loot (not wishing to use FFA), then why are you in party with him in the first place? Just leave and play with someone else, or form your own party where you are the leader and will set fair loot rules. So again, no problem there.
Also remember that even those players that are not in party can loot the mobs you kill (and get flagged as thief in the process) so while deciding what to do with loot, be quick or you may lose the loot all together by some opportunist random player that happened to be nearby and picked it up quicker than you.
I love this mechanics, I'm glad devs are designing it this way.

RE: Dual Wield / Fist Weapons
Total player DPS (or DPM if you like) will depend not only on weapon DPS but on his playing skills as well. How well can he design and perform various skill rotations, how well can he move and "shoot" at same time, and other factors.
Things you can observe and compare separately are:
- weapons DPS
- particular abilitys DPS
Players DPS is beyond discussion here because it depends on great many things.

Another question would be, what would you think about a signboard/post board (kinda like the Witcher 3) where you could post some notices for other players to read, like, advertising your business/guild or asking for help.
Could it work or would it be abused?Abused? As in, would somebody post spam on it?
This happens already in other MMOs with public/global/region/map/... chat and whispers, so the answer is "yes".
As long as only house owner can post there, I think it would be ok.
I doubt gold spam bots will have housing.
(Or at least I hope that housing won't be that easy to obtain. I hope it requires some decent effort.) -
RE: Don't Have access to my email anymore
But how can we be sure it is "the real" Althalus.

RE: Just a(some) quick question(s).
Divine quests will likely be handed out in temples. Temples will already exist around the lands, even isolated, and there could be some monk NPCs living there.

RE: Dual Wield / Fist Weapons
Im guessing weapons will generally be balanced between each other.
Skills will be vastly different, and its not possible (or fun even) that every skill is exactly the same.
But since everyone will have access to all skills and a free choice, that will provide the balance. Its just important that "schools" in general are somewhat balanced between each other. For example illusionism vs assassination.

RE: Toon Colouring.
If I'd have to bet, I'd say that basic customization will let you chose among the basic skin colors for your character, and cash shop palette will offer some artsy mixed and matched special skin skins.
I never thought I will ever be using "skin skins" in a sentence.

RE: So that went well, huh?
I dont believe the problem is "server not being able to handle 300 people"...
Its unity, and its used for other prodicts as well and it can certainly handle many users.
Problem was something else, some investigation is neededbut it will certainly be found and fixed.

RE: Pre-Alpha Cape
@meninodeouro said in Pre-Alpha Cape:
I liked the idea of a unique dye.
Hopefully such dye would be infinite-use perma dye then, because if it's that dye that you use one time, and then you lose your armor, that would suck.
It's why I'd rather opt for a skin of some kind, or a cape, pet, anything permanent.
