Personal asteroids as a form of housing
-
There would be a main access portal somewhere (for example in capital cities on each planet), and when you interact with it you could travel to your own asteroid (or friends asteroid, given that he gave you permission to visit). Your asteroid could be your housing zone, where you could build own castle, farm, lake, whatever.
Could work like flying housing zones in WildStar MMO.
Would you enjoy something like that? (In addition to having guild housing, that Fractured already has)
-
@gothix This is a good idea, but it does not fit into this universe
-
I would prefer people focusing on the guild settlement.
-
I'm with Fin on this one. Guild settlements are enough.
-
@esoba Yeah otherwise turns that everyone goes for their own instanced housing instead focusing on the settlement/village.
-
as fun as it sounds it would take people away from guild settlements so +1 for @Finland on this.
-
@finland completely agree. Even though it's a neat idea, I fear it would only serve to push players into their individual corners instead of pushing them to interact in larger groups.
-
Actually sounds like a great idea. I know that I, for one, would move to my own hidey hole if it were an option and solo the entire game. Not very optimal though.
In that regard, I would say the Settlements are a great idea.
Quite an inventive idea and I see where you are coming from. Keep the ideas coming!
-
That is more for themeparks, not sandbox games.
-
This sounds a lot like Wild Star. But I don't think it's a good idea, not very lore friendly.
-
I like it, but we shouldn’t have any form of isolated housing, as it just separates us from our guild mates. However, a guild commons or quarters with our own houses or rooms would be nice. Maybe even, we could have asteroids owned by guilds. The only problem is that access to these asteroids doesn’t seem to fit into this game.
-
In agreement that guild settlements is good enough. At least for me.
-
You'll be able to build your own secluded house in the open world if you so desire, I don't see why asteroid housing would be any different. You're not forced to live in guild cities yaknow.
-
@vengu If you let people do personal housing they will just care about their own things and will slack on Group things.
-
Actually...
One asteroid instance could have multiple houses, like a city or village. It was nice to see multiple houses in DAoC.
Paid tier in KS could be a secluded version which eventually opens up for a cash shop purchase.

Are you sure that personal housing will be possible outside of (guild) settlements?
If yes, even better.
I was only suggesting asteroids due to fear of limited space for housing in open world (and I love housing).

it could be an in game expense thing.
Cheap:
personal and guild in open worldMedium:
personal and guild in the major citiesHigh Class:
personal and guild in astroids.

There will no be space for everyone. they said that they does not want to see the planets growing like a big city.
-
which means they'll need instanced space or another plot of open world. asteroids fit that very well.
-
@jetah They do not plan to give housing for everyone. Otherwise the only way would be instanced housing that would be useless.

There are area limits, both for cities and for other kinds of privately owned buildings - such as farms. The world definitely won't turn into "one big city" or a random mass of houses!
I really don't know how they will manage it. Istanced is the way to give something to everyone. Otherwise will be limited somehow.
