Streaming Pre Alpha?

  • TF#3 - ENVOY

    Will PreAlpha be streamable? Coming from a partnered twitch streamer, would love to eventually show my community!

  • TF#10 - CONSUL

    @drawingbrad if I remeber well that's saind in the FAQ. Anyway we are not. Only from Alpha. The pre-alpha is closed.

    @drawingbrad You're not allowed to stream the pre-alpha as the NDA prohibits participants from doing so. Once alpha 1 starts, players are free to stream and share info about Fractured. 😉

    I know the intentions are good but there could be some serious 'feedback' by backers.

    Having watched Crowfall backers provide feedback, suggestions, rants, etc, it seems to me having limited game time is better for a developing game than 24/7 access.

    Indeed, that is why we will run several time-limited testing phases (A1, A2... B1, B2...) until Full Release :slight_smile:

    do i assume that could consist of a friday - sunday (or monday) testing length? Offer a monday-wed or wed-fri to those that work weekend shifts.

    @prometheus it depends on how much content there is to be tested. Usually a beta 2 that should be close to release got so many things to test that you need months to try everything, find bugs and report them. I'm pretty sure that in early stage 2 weeks are fairly enough.

  • TF#12 - PEOPLE'S HERALD

    @finland

    you don't always need months to test. sure it may help but i bet most people will just play and not actually submit reports of stuff broken.

    Right now Camelot Unchained isn't doing 24/7 testing to the public. they offer a few hours on the weekend and that's it.

    @jetah was my opinion based on what I do. I usually need lots of time to test everything. Blizzard for example gives h24/7 for beta access. CF for example is no sense to have a pre alpha h24/7 cause there is nothing.

    and blizzard has hundreds of internal QA to make sure their betas are closer to live than most games. 24/7 testing doesn't have to exist. Though I will say because of 24/7 testing some small things were found in CF.

    For first steps to test in the Pre Alpha i bet it's always good, just to give out a part of the world to test with a special task to the tester, like "We want to know, if there are problems in figthing/building/interacting with world..."
    These tests are usually just short timed.

    And @Jetah , even it would give much more feedback from all people who watch the streams, it would not really help the development team in this early stage. Because it is used to get the systems stable to running.

    As i remember @Prometheus, you said in past, that the public Alpha/Beta will not have this restrictions, because you want the feedback by streamers. And i guess in this phase it will start to be interesting, what the rest of the playerbase has for suggestions and what maybe can be implemented till the game goes into a release in 2-3 years 😉

  • TF#2 - MESSENGER

    twitch ?

  • TF#12 - PEOPLE'S HERALD

    @silv

    pre-alpha can't be streamed. no twitch, no restream, no youtube, no streaming of any kind. you can record it to your harddrive and upload it AFTER pre-alpha is over.

    any type of streaming in PRE-ALPHA means your account will be banned (generally speaking it's against the ToS).

    @Kralith problem is people will see the current state of the game and wholly judge it based on that. just look at the post here that are already giving "feedback" from what they seen.
