Alignment dependant abilities?



  • It was planned that you can worship one deity of your choice and the deity will grant you one permanent buff and some kind of ability. As gods are tied to alignment, are any abilities also "certain aligment only"? I can only remember beastman shapeshifting spells, that will change once you turn to abomination (by changing your alignment).

    How about some Evil only abilities like Possession or Good only spells specialising on healing or supporting. Or maybe making other versions of spells (the three variations of each ability) alignment dependant (good/neutral/evil), but that would be way too restricting.

    To my understanding those are primarily racial skills. Humans and angels won't be access to them if they become good.



  • @Razvan Thats correct, Angels will get new passives and it´s totally unknown what will happen with human upon becoming a lich. But so far it seems it´s best to be neutral, right. Would be nice to have some kind of reward (Ability) for being dedicated to evil (something like Jedi vs Sith) 😛

    Well Beastfolk and Demons have their racial abilities/passives and they change in case they become Abomination/Angel. Humans, on the other hand, will have access to technology and boosts tied to that. So maybe there could be some "evil" and some "good" technology. Like you could have a tether type of technology that would allow you to create a link between those with having the tether as well giving you some boosts. Good characters would give others some defensive boosts, neutral a balance between offensive and defensive, evil offensive. But this would lead to the restriction in a way you might be forced into being specifically alligned to get a specific bonus. And we don't know what the technology system will be like. For now - there is really no reason to make any spells or abilities good/evil only.
    If anything you could make them only "flavoured". Like the possession spell would be "Possession" - for evil characters; and "Mind Control" - for neutral; and "Befriend/Charm" - for good characters. The effect would be the same, but it would have the allignment flavour in a way. You could even change the visual effects a bit.

    In one of Q&As somebody asked similar question about enchantments: Some kinds of enchanting can be limited to your alignment, to your god progression or only to humans(steampunk technology) so there might be spells limited by alignment as well.

    I hear that if you worship the god SpecThor, you get spells to steal panies and underwear. You also get an unlimited amount of undies to wear all day long as well!

    All must bow and worship our underwear Lord and Savior that is SpecThor!!!!! Love live the boxer-briefs revolution!!!!!!!!

    I can see a legendary weapon, a Hammer of SpecThor, shiney, powerful beyond imagination.

    It would be extremely hard to find, a journey filled with mystery, dangers, adventure, and heavy costs.

    But once you find it... approach it, filled with joy... move your hand forward, to grab it...

    ... only to discover you can't lift it at all because it's too heavy for anyone but SpecThor to wield it!
