What sets Fractired apart from other MMORPG’s?

Will you be able to choose a starting skillset during character creation? Or will everyone start as generic beat-stuff-with-a-stick fighter? Hm.

you'll be given some spells/abilities. i hope. I assume you pick a starting 'class' or you can select which skills/abilities you want.
Yes, Japoco already said, that we will be able to choose from a few starting "classes", which will give us some starting skills.
-
i just realized the misspelling of the word Fractured in the title.
-
Players will be likely given a few skills to start with (perhaps one of premade decks that gets selected based on the players attribute choices, so not everyone will start with same skills).
We might also be given some starting items, but if the items will be easy enough to craft perhaps even no need for that.

@gothix
i'd say a crappy weapon unless the abilities we get can be done without a weapon (which would be pretty sweet).i do like the minecraft system where you start with nothing and have to punch stuff to get materials then craft a tool to get more materials... etc.

Oh, yes, that was one of the things I really liked about Tibia.
Even if you had everything in your bank and item storage taken away, and were stripped naked, you still could go into sewers, punch some rats to death, buy the most basic weapon, and climb the equipment ladder with no problems at all.(Not that you ever had any reason to do that, or the
"halp i was hacked all my items were stolen give gold gib itens pomuuuusz pls pls pls"
crowd cared, mind you.)Compare that to, say, Maple Story or Guild Wars 2 where you can't even attack if you have no weapon, forcing you into some sort of technical pacifism and possibly awkward combat-by-abilities-only. Good luck with mana regeneration and/or cooldowns on that one, though.
(Not that you would ever loose your weapons in these games, mind you.)
-
@dragomok Ye sorry I mis-typed. I meant "non-linear progression" because, as you correctly said, there is a lot of freedom in how everyone will be able to unlock abilities and traits doing different activities.
-
Ya, bootstrapping can be fun.

For me the strong focus on dodging/eliminating/avoiding the grinding is one of the main diferentials on this game!
Other then the isometric camera, it is nothing like diablo dispite the comments above.
The focus on long and risky expeditions to accuire resources without fast travel also sets it appart for me.
I love the three worlds three gameplays in harmony proposal!
The fact that gear is not going to set you appart from the crowd, instead its your skill and knoledge of the game that might give you the upper hand!

Oh, yes, having to go on journeys adds a lot to the experience (provided that they are actual journeys, and not just walking for for way too many minutes without anything happening like in sooome games).
-
@mae that can only happen if population is big , but population i believe would be very small and split playerbase to 3 faction i would say will make things more hard

Yes, I'm hoping for more than the false hugeness of infinite uniformity.

I’m picturing the journey people had before roads and maps.

Journey via landmarks? Stars?

Fractured is the most unique MMORPG I have encountered
-
@roccandil
imagine traveling to america thinking it was india. then imagine trekking across america with no landmarks, no maps, no roads and the only trails you have are those created by animals.
