Feature Spotlight #1: Three Races, Three Gameplays

It's pretty interesting to go with a system where rulesets differ based on the planet. From what I understand, beastmen cannot attack each other while demons and humans can. However, what would happen if a demon or human were to go the the beastmen's planet? Could they attack beastmen at will?

They can, but it's no easy task. Characters with evil alignment get heavy maluses on Arboreus. Plus, the whole environment reacts against their presence, up to the point some zones become practically unreachable by criminals.
-
@prometheus Wow this really seems to be a very interesting feature
-
@prometheus I hope Arboreus doesn't become the main target of the gankers then because Arboreus will most certainly be known as the carebear planet. Hopefully I can build a house somewhere without having to worry about it being raided.

As I've stated elsewhere, Arboreus will be the hardest place to "raid" for criminals. More info in the upcoming spotlight on planets!

Sweet! :3

Very good approach imo!
This makes the choice much more impactful and meaningful.

After reading the spotlight again it raised a few more questions.
1: Does every race have the same base movement speed? It's kinda implied that some beastmen have a higher base movement speed than some other races. Especially this part:
When transformed into their primal form, the tiger, the Chadra enjoy an even higher movement speed and attack precision.
2: We know that our abilities affect the environment, and we know that beastmen love nature. What would happen if a beastman destroys the environment with one of his abilities? For example if a fire spell sets the trees on fire. (If that's possible that is). Would that beastman get punished for it?

Nope. Your intuition was correct

Eheh that would be definitely too limiting/punishing. Beastmen can interact with the environment like other races, and they can extract resources as well

finaly a good news
-
Good to know. Especially since I'll be picking Erwydra and will be escaping most of the time xD

That's a bit sad for me. I like when one has to take consequences for their actions, since otherwise these action s become meaningless
-
@logain And think you must have skill to hit your target with your spell ^^ If you are like me and you don't have skill, the forest will burn in two seconds

Thanks for the answers and also, do mounts have different speeds aswell?
-
I'd like to know if I can get clarification on the amount of time a given race can remain on a planet other than theirs.
In addition, for Demons; is it impossible for a Demon player to engage in group play with a friend of his who plays a human character?
Thank you for your time.

I doubt that setting a complete forest on fire would be that 'easy', or at least I hope it wouldn't be. But yes, if you keep missing your target over and over again, I like actions to have consequences.

Any thoughts around demon summoning?
For example, an evil human can cast a summoning spell that will teleport in a PC demon. A demon can be mentioned by name, or can be left unnamed and mentioned only by race. The PC can opt in or out. Unnamed will jump around online demon players until someone decides to opt in.
The demon comes in and can fight for or trade with the summoner. If the demon does something illegal while under the 'control' of the human, the human carries all the legal penalties for the action as per normal Sundesian law.
The demon can opt to teleport back to Tartaros whenever they feel like it.
The human has a banish ability to try and force the demon back to Tartaros whenever the human likes it, but the demon has a chance to resist banishment based on stats and abilities.
The summoning ability has a duration, at the end of which the banish effect will automatically trigger. The human has the option to trigger the banish effect early if desired.
So long as the human doesn't banish the demon and the demon stays within proximity of the summoner, the demon gets to remain in Syndesia without the normal penalties. But once banishment happens the summoning effect ends, and if the demon resists then they begin to suffer the normal penalties.
I plan to main a hellfire demon, and a mechanic like this would be really neat. Probably not something that I'd expect to be ready on launch, but something I'd like to see eventually given how many of the pieces of the puzzle are already in play.

They do  They're not enormous though.

In addition, for Demons; is it impossible for a Demon player to engage in group play with a friend of his who plays a human character? That depends on their preparation, their alignment vs the planet they're visiting, and whether there are special events running (such as an eclipse on Syndesia). In general, we're talking of short times - a few hours at most, which is linked to the idea that you're having an "adventure" on another planet, not settling there.
As for engaging in group play with a Human friend, sure, the Human friend could travel to Tartaros or the Demon to Syndesia and they could play together. How long they will survive in a hostile planet is a whole different story
@KairosVal that's a nice original idea, but it would take a considerable amount of work to implement it - so, as you've said, it's unlikely we'll consider such mechanics early on. For sure there's no limit to how deep and creative we can go when it comes to racial mechanics though, so never say never!

Thanks for settling that question for me.

Different speed mounts - the end of "all the same for cosmetic sake" =P
