Mouse / Keyboard control
-
This game looks amazing. I was wondering will it have Mouse control for movement (like WOW and Destiny for example) with keyboard interaction or just use W A S D keys to move?
-
WHAT ARE THE CAMERA AND CONTROLS OF THE GAME?
Fractured uses an isometric camera attached to the player's character. The mouse is used for movement and to perform most interactions, including attacking and interacting with items and other creatures. Keyboard shortcuts and hotkeys are available for spellcasting and opening / closing different game menus.

As I understand "WASD" type of movement is not planned ("mouse click on floor" type of movement is planned), but I still have high hope WASD will be usable to move your character.
This issue just might make or break the game for many players. Option are always good, the more options the better.

All I can say is that @Prometheus hates WASD...
-
it's more like Path of Exile, LoL and Diablo (series) than Wow or Destiny.

Well he is not designing a game for himself to play alone.
At least I hope he is not.
-
I still think we should test the difference. they could have a tournament with WASD and without to see which one people felt was the better skill shot version.
I still say they'll have to have a movement system for consoles and the Switch.
-
@gothix well he is not designing this game just for you either. from the beginning it has been known this game would be click to move. if you DONT want to play a game with this movement system then maybe Fractured is not the game for you.
-
I didn't know that this game will be click to move, because I don't pay attention to such a thing untill I start playing the game. If and when we have problems moving around in alpha, I'm sure the devs will listen to our feedback. Keyboard movement (with arrow keys, I dislike WASD) might be nice to dodge attacks or to avoid walking through a trap. We'll see how all that works in alpha an beta.
I've played plenty of isometric RPGs. But they where all turn based. I'm not sure how isometric mmo combat works if you can only use the mouse. I'm sure though that the devs have thought about this in dept when designing the game.
-
@gibbx I would prefer WASD as I think it's much easier to play that way. But lack of WASD isn't a reason to leave Fractured. I might leave this game because of PvP crowd but that will be after I play release for a bit at least.
And as my first post on this forum was a year ago about adding WASD I do feel I'm allowed to keep complaining about it
-
I don't know if a WASD (or ZQSD, depend of the keyboard) is the best system for an isometric game (I think most of the isometric games have mouse control). After, I prefer the WASD (being lazy to change the wasd in zqsd changed my uses x) )

Just for me? LOL you are saying that I'm the only player in the world that would like WASD?
Sorry man, but your comment is just... I don't even know how to describe it, honestly... nothing more to say.@gibbx said in Mouse / Keyboard control:

This just reaffirms my statement from above. Have a nice day.
-
@tulukaruk I understand that you prefer WASD. you can complain about it all you want.
-
@gothix the hallmark of a poor debater right there. I am still not sure why you are here. I am still thinking that fractured might not be the game for you. Out.

I will at least till pre-alpha ends Mostly because till now the there weren't any reasonable arguments against it.
Many people are against removing mouse movement and making it WASD only - but that was never the case we argued for. Planty games have both without any problem.

It's impossible to debate with someone whose arguments are illogical and completely false statements (like statement that I'm the only one who would like WASD), sorry. There is just nothing more to say when someone says something like that. I rather pull out from pointless waste of words.
And if you have difficulty understanding why people (including myself) are here, I'm sorry but that's your own problem. I will not bother trying to explain it to you.
-
Of course, I would like to see the possibility of an accident with the mouse on AWSD. Let's hope for this opportunity.
-
@tulukaruk
There was a whole thread about it. The search bar should pull it up.
-
Actually, I'm hoping for a "force move" key like Diablo has. I like that best in isometric games. I don't think WASD would work well with isometric, but I've never tried it.
Edit: I guess Path of Exile has it, too. However, you have to give up a skill slot for it, which seems kind of nuts.
Edit #2: Also Grim Dawn and Torchlight II according to the web.
So this is a very standard ability in isometric games. Hope we get it.

Everyone plays games differently.
Therefore it's always nice for a game to have different options and settings to control your characters. The more people you can please with the available control options, the more players your game will have, resulting in more money being made for the game, what results in more money available for development for future content.
