Pretty much participate and get your friends involved! It is really simple if you are just active for a while!

What others have said. View and completing the quests listed is what I have done. Really it seems like the more active in the community you are, the higher your chances of leveling up.

Reading through the background info is simple enough. From then on it is forum activity or recruitment of interested friends, if you have them.

What others haven't specified about participating:
- write a CONSTRUCTIVE posts in discussions, stating your opinions backed with arguments, while also being nice to other community members
- just writing "I like it!", "this is a good game", or "I want an alpha key" for the sole purpose of writing a piece of text, will not help you

And never forget, an Alpha is not for „Oh i found a new game, want to play it!“, but its for „Oh i found a nice game idea created by a Dev Team that want form this idea, i want to help that the idea comes true!“.
