Female armour

Any chance that you'd include the idea of 'female armor' in one of your design write-ups?
I tried to advertise the game to somebody who shrugged, replied it's 'bikini babes' and never came back. I kind of hope that the 'very open' female 'armor' we saw in the concept art so far isn't meant to be armor and that women wear real armor in the game, but it is tricky to advertise that.
-
Somebody already ask for that, and they said they do their design write-ups with male model for more simplicity (or something like that ^^), but female armor are almost the same ^^ (I don't think they have a perverse spirit and they will do like others ^^ )

Yeah, thanks, I remembered that, but wanted to highlight the fact that it's tricky to market the game to a female audience like that.
-
Now I would love to know if (the majority of) female players actually prefer female avatars. Maybe most female avatars are played by men and vice versa? Couldn't find a good study/statistic.
-
@casgadom
I personally prefer to play female avatars, cause I like pretty things. Strange that the guys I play with that play female avatars say the same thing?
-
@logain Or maybe they are all mysogine

Under one form or another, this question always come up in pre-release communities, for every game that is and ever was
If I make a game someday, that's definitely a topic I'll make sure we address in the first version of the design doc, hehe.

Probably because most people are sick of Asian female armour concepts
-
Asian female armor doesn't exist, @Fyrsey ^^ It's a mistake to call what women wear in this games "armor"
-
@esher right, you've got the point. Regardless, I find those designs outright vulgar and cheap
-
@Fyrsey Sure ! Less you are dressed, more you have armor, but it's more to catch the eye of pervert than something else

That being said, where's the "bikini babe" exactly? If you're referring to this, well, that's an illustration of an allegoric character, not a game character, and I'd hardly call that "bikini babe" anyway

Wir decken, dass in Zukunft sicher - tatsächlich, wir gehen, es zu zeigen, und es wird tatsächlich Rüstung, kein „Asian MMO“ Zeug sein.
Many thanks!

She checked out the three different races and found a completely nude female beast, a half nude female demon and a female human who covers her belly with 'armor' but disregards the rest.
Her exact words were:
'Universe - Beastment (naked lady with leaves added to shoulders), Demons (half naked lady with her breasts out)
Humans - lady in gauzy dress with classic armoured corset
sigh
Contrast Elyria art style ... women get real armour http://media.chroniclesofelyria.com/concepts/1c41ead94cca4eae95009e33090b518a.jpg'

Also, that human is probably a NPC related to the human's justice system, judging by the scale and blindfold. I don't see what's wrong with cloth armor. Mages tend to wear cloth.

I can not judge that, but it's a 'first perception' issue. If it's not a beastman though, why is it showcased as concept art under the bestman tab?

The cloth she's wearing is not the issue, the metal around her belly is. Either wear real metal/plate armor, or not at all. Just wearing it 'cosmetically' around the belly is stupid for any warrior to go into battle Again... a first perception issue.

You've got to ask the girl(s) that complain there, though I guess a blindfold can be set and removed way faster than a body armor. Who knows, a magic spell might require a blindfold, which is easily adjusted through dragging down a frontlet?

Hey guys, I'm here to clarify the design choices we've made for the "Universe" images
Those characters don't represent the 3 races you'll see in game, they describe their alignment. They are, in fact, well known idols, more gods than living beings; Lady Justice, as depicted by Greek culture, represents humans' free will and the moral choices you'll have to make.
We have a Dryad, which is a Nymph representing life in harmony with nature and mortal beings. Dryads are tree spirits, also well described in ancient Greek mythology.
Blood and Terror is symbolized by Baphomet, an allegorical idol used to depict chaos as the way universe works, following its natural flow (birth, life, death) in the absence of the laws of men.
All of them are portrayed following a cultural and historical description, aside for some changes made to make them fit within the style we chose to use for the homepage.
I'm sorry if this led to some kind of misunderstanting but, as already said, we'll fully cover this topic in the near future!
