How solo friendly do you guys think this will be? I don't always have friends online, so I was curious.

Title. I plan to have like 4-5 other friends with me but I'm just concerned about how viable being solo would be if they're not always online.

Lots of it will be able to be played solo. You can even have your house out in the boondocks and be a hermit. However, to achieve some things (ie. upper crafting equipment) you will need to be part of a greater whole. Also, there will be some monsters that you will not be able to solo cause they may have immunities to your type of skills.

this is true for now, i hope it will be changed in the future, there is no logic in punishing the solo players.

The devs have acknowledged that games like this will be more enjoyable for larger groups, naturally but they're not ruling out solo-small plays.
While you can achieve things on your own or in a small group but it'd definitely be much easier to attain it on a larger group.

I think that joining a city or some kind will be pretty much necessary. Or at least be on good enough terms with a city to use the upgrades they can do that a single plot can not. But I also think that going out and doing PvX solo will be completely doable with a quick rest at a fire and different gear. it might take longer to kill magic immune mobs with a spear, but you should be able to.

it sort of is, i mean there are housings outside of city limits, they don't get the same benefits of having NPCs, etc. etc so they definitely still have to rely on towns/cities.

The most honest answer is that this game will be solo friendly if you are playing beastkin on Arboreus.
The other 2 plannets are full loot PvP, and many groups will roam around, and if you are solo type of player, you will not be very happy when you get ganked by group and all your loot stolen.
But being protected from PvP on Arboreus, that can surely be super fun for solo player.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll probably just join a city if not enough of my friends end up playing. We're hopefully going to have a 6-7 sized group at the minimum.
-
I am usually alone in the games I play as well. It's the reason I joined a guild so that I am better able to get a party when I need one
-
@Razuqze
It doesn't really matter if you started playing with a group or solo. As long as you join a guild, it should be quite easy to find a group to fit into.
-
I think that I can say for most of the people that are planning on soloing the game that it is possible. There are a ton of opportunities for solo players

this is not true, its all depend on the FF on/off. if the game will be FF on then big groups will not be in advantage against small groups

FF? Is that FvF? We have FvF currently in alpha testing, but I don't think that will carry over to the final release. I think it is just primarily for them being able to test PvP with only have 1 map and race to use.

@Ostaff Friendly Fire, no matter, if the person is part of your guild or party, if you aoe you will do damage to him/

@grofire Ahhhhh... yes... FIREBALL! FIREBALL TOAST EVERYONE!!!! MWUHAHAHAHAHA.
I like Friendly Fire, even though it will make being a magic user a pain, it would make it more strategic to work with A lot better than button smashing.
