No grind for real?

If I became an expert at this game, then started a brand new account, I would be able to fight on even footing with other experts on their main accounts?

Sounds bland doesn't it? but no, I would think a seasoned player would kill a newbie still. The game is knowledge or skill based instead of level based.

Well. It depends on the skill tree system. By now, you start off with 4 basic skills and learn the others rather quickly. You can get all you need within just a few hours, if you know what you need. If you are able to get those skills faster with the skill tree, you actually just need equipment and enchantments. Those as well are done within a few hours. If you have those reagents and materials already, you are obviously good to go.
-
@Freas so six hours to get gear and abilities to be on par?
-
Pretty much, yeah. It depends on the skillsets you want to play, so it might differ from character to character. For example: Mages obviously need the Fireball, learned by the Fire Shaman, which is camped pretty often. But if you use the routes wisely and you know what you need for crafting, it shouldn't take longer than 6 hours, at least in the current state of the game.

Which is Alpha

Your new character will still lack learned skills for you to be able to counter many of the build types.
I would say that as an expert player on new alt, you will be able to counter some of the mains that are currently playing decks which your starting deck can counter.
You will still need to learn more skills to more efficiently counter more decks.
-
That's at least the goal. If that's going to be the case, nobody knows until the game is finished and supposedly balanced. It's a tricky goal, but one worth pursuing for developers I'd say.
-
i wont lie. i believe this game will have grinding.
odds are you'll need some basic gear. being given that aside, you'll need to do some basic gathering and crafting. you'll need to do that enough times to have a few sets of gear available.
you'll need to kill enough of a mob to learn their spells. we may need to explore or whatever else to learn other skills.

That'd depend if he can get net positive on looting from players and trading that loot for what he'd want for himself, wouldn't it?

You could argue that, unless he really only wants to sit around, waiting for opponents, he'd wander around anyway and hence the exploration aspect would come 'natural'.

(...)how do you kill me to get the gear you need to.. kill me.
We know that we're supposed to be able to get 'basic gear' ready within less than a minute, actually, you kind of start your adventure with basic gear from the tutorial. I wouldn't consider that 'grinding' just yet. From there on, you can work your way up with skill. Actually, you don't even really need equipment to finish off a 'non PvP savvy player'.

you're naked.
i'm not.
how do you kill me to get the gear you need to.. kill me.
(stalks in the bushes just outside of your vision line as you fight a huge monster by yourself, then when you are at your lowest I streak in singing "When the streak went berserk" in a very loud voice, reducing your final red bar to 0 as you catch the glamour that is of my undie covered body and branch and stone wielding self!)
-
you assume i'll be fighting something. i could just be hunting you!
but yeah that happens in pvp games all the time. this assume i dont have any self heals or leech type spells.
-
@Jetah now travel back to that thought again just for a second.
Would you be hunting a naked man, or running away from him? Think hard!

Never know, Jetah could just be one of those people who hunt us poor naked men in our undies Of course, it is also to consider why one of us would actually be streaking through the monster-killing man field in our undies waving around our big stick and singing jolly songs to begin with.
@Jetah Don't worry, I will just be behind this nice little cozy bush. Well out of sight of the wandering raggabond.

of course i'd be hunting a naked person. you think i'm playing a furry? no! i'm playing a demon and i dont care how low (gear/skill) you are, i will attempt to kill you.
-
@Jetah my comment had a bit different context, but that's OK
-
@Gothix @Jetah Oh I see how you both tried to dodge that huge elephant in the room! LOL
(motions for his long range sniper to relax, these mice like to run too much)
