What’s the point?

Is there a main story line for the game or is it more pick it up and do what you want?
-
It's going to have quests, and lore, if you count that as story?, but it's still in alpha, lots more work yet to come
-
there will be no questline only quests to become angel or a mad beastmen. There will be lore but we don't know how we will reveal it yet
-
Exploring, building, learning, crafting, fighting: not necessarily in that order. While there may be lore and legends, so far I feel like the story will be what the players make it.
-
Fractured feels quite traditional sandbox MMORPG where lore is more like the frames and players write the stories. Lore is present in world creation, places, factions and such things. Player progression is not lore-driven like many games with quests.
I am always interested of lore in games, because it many times explains why we are fighting against these specific mobs for example. So I do not mind if we see more lore what can be expected.
-
Yeah this game is intended to be more of a sandbox than the theme parks that mmos have mostly become. For many that may take a reorientation to the good days of MMOs, but the wonderful thing about the sandbox is that the point of playing is whatever you want it to be.
-
Sandbox games offer "less" at the launch (just until community gets the ropes of the game and picks up), but last longer, and offer much more at middle and later stages of game play, where theme park games "loose the juice" and everything becomes old, unlike sandbox games who start to thrive as game grows older.
-
alot of this makes it seem like a multiplayer skyrim, lol. do what u want, when u want. (that is if you ignore the quests in skyrim and just play to have fun and explore)
-
There's a linear progression system and you essentially create your own goals and decide what your role is.
-
This is a sandbox.
-
thanks yall i didnt really understand the whole sandbox thing now i have a better idea. im so excited to play this game!!
-
No problem. We love to help new people, as the game needs many more!
-
Absolutely. Not to mention I love seeing people adjust to what a sandbox can offer and realize what they've been missing. When enough of us see the light, the industry will move away from those theme park rail mmos that they've been pumping out.

Hopefully there are server wide events that devs will run with some kind of quest behind it. Events, that depending upon the players' participation as a whole server, could change the environment of the landscape.

I played a sandbox game that had the community team up to unlock new races.
-
@Farlander I agree. UO had some great GM-run events, I hope the Fractured team follows suit.

@Lurric me too events and mini games makes me wanna stay in the world
