Nheedra (blacksmith) looking for guild
I'll be playing a Nheedra, who is somewhat perverse. He likes working with metals. So as I understand it, he'll have to go to Syndesia to at least get metals, take the metals back to Arboreus to work with them. Or if it is impossible to have some of the necessary crafting tables on Arboreus, then work with a town on Syndesia to get access to the blacksmith tables.
I would like my home to be on Arboreus, but would have to travel frequently to Syndesia because of my unusual (blasphemous?) interest in metals.
So looking for a Beastman guild that would have such a Nheedra. I would usually have some kind of tank build. I could also work as a go between, (diplomat?) between the Beastman guild and a town/guild on Syndesia.

Sound settings need to be applied earlier
I usually have my windows volume all the way up and turn down the volume in each application as necessary. While this ensures that I can hear things if an application has a low volume, it means that my ears get blasted occasionally. Fractured blasts my ears unnecessarily.
When I start Fractured, the sound in the settings is NOT applied even after the character screen is shown. One must select a character (or go though the long process of creating one) while the sound (in my case) blasts away. It isn't until after you begin to enter the game with your selected character that the sound setting is applied.
Please apply the sound setting before the character selection screen is shown, and as early as possible before that.

New player concerns
I am new to Fractured, but have read all the news. I am sure there are old threads I have missed so some of my comments/questions may need to be corrected. Also, the game looks great for an Alpha build.
But as someone brand new to the game, I think my concerns might be of interest. Here they are.
1 - Design Journals started July 2017 then ended July 2018. There was no post nor news that explained the reason for stopping the Journals. If the need for the Journals went away, or they took too much developer time, it would have been nice to post the reasons you were stopping them.
2 - A play testing/release road map was released in the news July 2018. I am guessing that we are about 7-8 months behind that schedule? Perhaps when the results of the current Alpha have been evaluated we could get a playtest/release schedule update? Are the economic costs of the delay going to cause problems? Will more money be needed?
3 - I'm not sure what kind of Endgame there is. I can see many players building the character they want, then exploring all the current maps, doing the Vale of Shadows, in 2 months or so (maybe less)? Then would they get bored with the game and leave? What plans are there to keep players in the game for the long term? I tend to be a completionist myself, so I see myself playing the game for a longer time, but I'm not sure that there are enough people like myself to keep the game going. Hopefully the developers have indicated some plans for continued content, and I just haven't found them.
I have not bought any package. For the most part because I do not like things given to me. I don't want to be given a wagon/mule, I want to do whatever is necessary in the game to buy/make them. When Beta 2 is announced, I see myself finally buying the Adept package.
Thank you for reading this somewhat long post, I look forward to any comments and info.

Character names
Is there any guide to help the player name their character? Have the developers released any list of npc names for the different races?
I always like to create realistic rp names, even if I don't roleplay. But I have no idea what kind of name beastmen or demons use.

Bug on linking -- password problem
I was unable to link my account after buying the game on steam. Wasn't able to get any help. I finally changed my Fractured account password to something simpler, and was able to link. Apparently my password had a character that prevented the link, but there was NO feedback at all. Just nothing, after the link attempt. Also, my complex password was fine for my Fractured account.

Unable to link account
Just bought the game on Steam. I try to link my Fractured account and nothing happens. The link button is cannot be pressed any more. To try again, I need to quit and restart.
should I just start a new fractured account? Would prefer not to.

Alts
Are people really going to have lots of alts?
If I understand the system correctly, this game is a bit like FFXIV in that your character can easily switch between builds (classes). Yes, you start out with a fighter build, or a mage build, but you should be able to get enough knowledge points to get lots of skills and whatever, and have probably three or so complete build options, all on your single character. So I don't think you need multiple characters for different builds.
However, you may wish to have 3? Start as a beastman, human and demon. I guess that is one reason to have 3 builds. But I'm not sure how that will work out. Can your characters join different guilds? Can you play enough to support three characters, each contributing to their town?
Just not sure how it works right now.

RE: The Potential City Problem.
I tend to be a completionist, so like to have some kind of way to acquire all the resources directly in other games. So like the OP I am somewhat worried about this one resource, one city approach. But, unlike the OP I am willing to see how it plays out.
I don't think we'll have that many people having multiple accounts, or see people city hopping. Trade will be forced. You can't just "join" a city willy nilly. Cities have maintenance, and mayors are going to want to have citizens that support the city. Any city whose mayor immediately accepts all applications and ends up with a rotating population will not last long.
My fear is that some resources will be much more valued than others. Metal over wood or something like that. It will be up to the developers/designers of the game to see that all resources are valuable.
Also I am not sure what happens to resources in an area where no one has founded a city? Perhaps in this case, anyone can come and mine the resource, since there is no city to control it.

RE: Sound settings need to be applied earlier
Thanks for the info, I'll start using that. However, sound setting SHOULD be applied at the character selection screen.

Worried for the country house
Some people will prefer to build their houses in the country instead of in a town. I am a bit worried about them, because they will need access to towns to get access to advanced crafting tables. So what if someone builds a country house, develops it as much as possible then realizes they need access to an advanced crafting table. Off they go to a town, but that town's mayor has set all the crafting tables in the town residents only. Off they go to another nearby town and its the same thing. Now what is he to do? All his work may have gone to waste as he has to travel far to find someone that allows him access to a crafting table. They give up their plot, try to move to a plot nearer a town that allows access, but get tired of doing everything all over and quit the game.
Not sure what the solution is, I'm just not sure that restricting advanced crafting tables to towns is the way to go.
