I would suggest to check out Lewpac who is a content creator in Albion Online. I can see how he could be interested of Fractured too. He has about 4K subs in Youtube and has Twitch channel as well. His videos have good quality. He was also a commentator in competitive 5v5 tournament matches and he did a really good job there.

RE: Spell crafting
@Meiki Yeah I guess something like that. I would use these as example what I had in my mind:
-
Lets say a "Cribling Strike" ability deals some damage and contains also a slow effect. Maybe some kind of big hammer changes that slow to stun. That way you could create new interesting combos, which also makes sense.
-
For your idea of "Chest of the Ice Queen" I have another example. If that Frost Cone ability normally chills and slows the target for few seconds. Maybe this Chest will replace that slow CC with chill shield which is cast on you, and if enemy hits you when you are shielded, then they will be slowed down.
So in my suggestion your core idea is just made inside lighter system, which could be easier to implement without breaking what devs had in their mind from the beginning. This was just brainstorming and nothing so much planned beforehand.

RE: New World by Amazon - Anyone interested?
Disapointed news but in other hand understandable, it is not reasonabale to release unfinished product. However, a year delay tells how much there is still to be done, balance and fix.

@Gothix said in I suggest to continue the Foundation program:
when you look at it, the word "foundation" means the base. Something you start with.
@Meiki said in I suggest to continue the Foundation program:
Well I personally think that the foundation should stick around until some later time, as it says it is a foundation, so until the game is done and ready for release, the game still has a base to build and putting some incentives for the players is actually a pretty good win-win situation for all.
I would say you are both right. Foundation can easily be defined either way. So imo the name itself won't be a problem as long as the pre-launch development is still going on.
Because the situation is going to change within upcoming Alphas and Betas, maybe some quests could be added and related for testing, feedback and suggestions. I would not forget content creators either, because in most cases they do very valueable job. Also positive acts for common good (e.g. community atmosphere ) is something that could be noticeable somehow.

Just wondering if fractured will be for Mac because right now my windows computer is broken
Like @Vortae said. However, there is something important to take attention.
"The game is being developed for computers running Windows, macOS and Linux. While support for all these three operating systems is planned to be available on full release, it is possible that only Windows support will be available during alpha / beta. Clarifications on this issue will be released when the game approaches Alpha / Beta testing."

RE: New World by Amazon - Anyone interested?
I personally had a chance to test out the current situation of New World. I did not play it all way to the end game, but I kind of liked what I experienced. However, the game is not ready, not even close, but if developers can manage to develope the game further and fix the core issues, New World can be a good game. Potential is there but only time will tell what we will get at the end. Asmongold made a good review video of the game and I will link it here below if someone is interested of his thoughts.

RE: Developer updates regarding game status?
@Pluto said in Developer updates regarding game status?:
Not really weird at all imho. They have updates every month, the most recent detailing what their plans for alpha 1 were.
There is only one news/update related to pre-alpha and its from february. It may be enough for you, but its not enough for everyone. It is important from marketing point of view to release constant updates and videos. That will keep people more interested and follow the progression. New content releases also gives people more topics to discuss and not like atm where forums and discord are quite quiet. Lack of this information and marketing was surely one reason for result of kickstarter, which was a slight disapointment. I understand that DS has limited number of human resources at the moment, but imo they should still try to make them more known and also keep current community satisfied. I wish DS has more patience people like you though.

Before going for your suggestion perhaps the developers should start with adding different kind of mobs. Fighting the same mobs (there is just few different kind) from lvl 1 to 50 starts to get boring really fast.
That's just scaling up the same old static, mob-spawning system that's in most MMOs. If the developers were going to implement a next-gen mob system, it might be better to do that earlier to test it.
I don't think they will, though, either way. New World does look fun, but only the graphics seemed next-gen; everything else felt like traditional mechanics, just arranged a bit differently.
Given the amount of resources I'd assume are available to the New World developers (especially the existing Amazon server infrastructure), that's disappointing.
Yeah I agree, in most MMOs the mobs and animals are really static, either just standing or moving inside a really small area. Games could start with adding more roaming mobs which would move unpredictable way inside a larger zone, sometimes standing, sometimes walking, sometimes runing for example.
If I remember right, Ashes of Creation goals to have some kind of new generation environment system where player actions will effect to the mobs and animals as well. Meaning, that if players kills a lot of certain type of animals, those will spawn less in future and perhaps some other animals are spawning more. I guess if players kills a lot of wolves from a certain area this might lead to overpopulation of deers because there is not enough predators to keep that in balance. I would like to see more this kind of systems in games in future even I understand that these are not that easy to implement.

RE: I suggest to continue the Foundation program
@Pluto said in I suggest to continue the Foundation program:
As someone who has been around awhile, since the Kickstarter... I probably COULD have gotten those higher tier rewards. But, I didnβt. I decided to wait until the game started getting fleshed out a bit more before becoming active.
I honestly think they should be for those who battled it out from the beginning. Itβs a nice thank you to them.
I actually did the same almost a year ago when I found Fractured and registered as an user. There wasn't much concrete content which is why I personally left to wait more to happen.
I have to partly disagree with you what it comes to rising pedestal those who have been here long. I don't want to take anything away from them, but honestly a good amount of points are came from meaningless daily quest posts and daily bonus points. Especially during several months backwards when forums have been more or less dead. So I would not put that much value on those. Also most of the conversations from past have been more or less speculations (like still are) or devs answering to players' questions. I am confident, that devs have got some good ideas from community, but we have to remember, that the most important test parts are still coming. So we shouldn't just rank people how long they have been here, when more important is how much they have actually contributed and how much they will in future during upcoming ingame tests. Amen.

RE: Developer updates regarding game status?
@Gothix said in Developer updates regarding game status?:
It's a few devs only and they are focusing on development right now, so the game can be ready for Alpha 1.
That is not acceptable reason. When Alpha 1 is launch, what happens next? Then devs are too busy to maintain Alpha 1 and they need to start focus on Alpha 2. So with that logic devs can use that same reason everytime and they never have time for community and marketing.
@Gothix said in Developer updates regarding game status?:
So from this perspective, a lack of "public updates" is understandable at the moment.
At the point when Alpha 1 will be out, things will drastically change for sure though. NDA being lifted, and all.It will help, but marketing and content updates should not rely only on players. Those have not the same value what official videos and news have. Content creators are usually making stuff from their point of view and there is also negative feedback and reviews among those videos/articles.
So summarizing this.. We need more official content updates to follow, but DS needs this even more from marketing point of view.

Back before we decided to hold drawings, we considered rewarding forum members with points everytime they made a good post, good suggestion, etc. In the end we didn't do it because I wanted to avoid accusations of favoritism. (Why didn't I get points for my crappy suggestion???). Therefore it's unlikely we will do such thing in the future.
Hmmmm.. Well it is your game and you have rights to reward who ever you want to. Well its a choise between reward helpfull posts and answer few negative feedback or not reward helpfull post at all. How much accusations of favoritism you actually think you would get? Does not sound something that would happen a lot. If you have considered rewarding good posts, imho you were on the right track there.

Exactly.

RE: I suggest to continue the Foundation program
Foundation program should imo end after beta 2 and just before release. Then the base has finished and the product is ready for launch.
Well ofc there can be some kind of program, but the content and the name needs some update so those will cater better post-release situation.

RE: Siege and Siege-engines
@Haiil I could'nt found any information either, but I know Fractured will have different kind of conquer features where sieges are one part. I presume this has not been opened much yet.
I guess somekind of siegecamp system like you mentioned could be quite close what we will actually see. I hope we can see different size of sieges depending the lvl and size of the object. Meaning variations like 10v10 , 20v20 , 50v50..
In addition, I hope we can see siege weapons as well. Maybe attackers can craft these with lead of carpenter(s). Same with defenders, they should also have chance to make some preparations like reinforce walls and build own siege weapons as well. And because taking advantage of environment is a thing in Fractured, maybe some oil can be spread over the battlefield and set up people to fire for example.

New NPC Faction: Demon Hunters
Suggestion for new NPC faction:
DEMON HUNTERS
Introduction
I can see how demonical and diabolic creatures roams the lands of Tartaros, but on top of that there should be something different and lore wise. I was inspired to make this suggestion when I saw @Jetah's thread; Ideas for Tartaros mobs. Thank you Jetah for that.Demon Hunters is a NPC faction, which mainly consist of humans, and they operate in planet Tartaros. I do not want to exclude possibility of beastmen to be members, but their numbers will be in minority if there are any.
Background & Lore
Some people will not put much value on lore, but to me (and hope for most of us) it is a really important part of the game. Lore is the piece what keeps everything together. Sometimes you can not see it, but it is still there somewhere at the background, and making the world interesting and especially believable. Even we are living in fantasy world, things still needs to have rules, meaning and make sense. Otherwise it would not be fantasy anymore and then it might go more on non-sense genre. It is relatively easy to create lore and background stories around concepts of Demon Hunters. Demons as playable race makes it actually possible and also interesting. We have used to hunt down demons in other games, but now the situation has turned around.
Members of this faction comes from different backgrounds, but there is one important and common reason which unites them all. Hate against demons. Usually demons have caused death and sorrow for members of Demon Hunters when slaughtering their friends, family and community members. However, hate against demons is not enough get access to this faction. Demon Hunters have to be also fearless and skillful warriors who does not try to avoid any clash with demons. Demon Hunters have tear away from influence of Syndesia and they do not acknowledge any kings or rulers. They have separated from everyone and they are on their own.
Motives & Goals
Demon Hunters main motive is revenge. They have dedicated their lives for hunt down demons using any actions necessary. Sometimes this means sacrifices for larger good. Every killed demon gives Hunters a lot of satisfaction and many of them are addicted to that feeling. Main goal is to perish all Demons from the world or at least make them lives as hard as possible when trying to accomplish this primary mission.Alignment
Evil and/or neutral. I can not put Demon Hunters only under one alignment. Demon Hunters acts hostile (as evil) against all Demons, Angels and Abominations. Those does not deserve any mercy in their eyes.Demon Hunters does not have allies. They do not cooperate with other factions even they would have the same enemy. They act like neutrals against every other than demons regardless of their race and background. So they are not automatically hostile against everyone, but they are not willing to help others either. We have to remember, that Demon Hunters do not like anyone who intrudes their zones (outsiders could jeopardize their existence) and there they might be hostile against everyone regardless of the race.
Way of acting
Demon Hunters live mainly in Tartaros, but they have some recruitment and supplement camps in other planets too. In Tartaros, they live under the surface, hiding in caves and tunnels, in secret camps and outposts. They are hiding so deep, that even Babilis has hard time to find and see them.Players needs to be careful with Demon Hunters, which usually organizes dangerous ambushes and can surprise careless players. However, demons are demons after all and they will do everything needed to banish Demon Hunters from their lands. Demon Hunters use infiltration and guerrilla tactics, because they do not have enough numbers to start open war. If they would have enough members, they would cause a planet wide mayhem.
Meaning & Point
As a NPC Faction Demon Hunters are one of the antagonists for players and guilds who live in Tartaros. So some PvE activities there are related to Demon Hunters faction. You may not find Demon Hunters roaming everywhere like some creatures, but you can find them lurking in shadows, dungeons and hinterlands. So it is easy to implement camps, dungeons and raids around Demon Hunter theme. Demon Hunters are not the easiest enemies imo and I would rank them about average or a little above what it comes to danger level, but I would still leave room for more powerful PvE mobs and creatures. I can imagine that there are monsters much more dangerous than puny humans.Ranks
Demon Hunters are lead by a council (total of five members). Council consist of masters from each class. There is only one master / class in council and all masters are equal among each other. Classes are Demon Slayer, Demon Piercer, Demon Cleanser, Demon Scorcher and Demon Stabber. Inside classes there is of course some ranks as well. So there can be for example Demon Slayer Lieutenant or captain to make other mobs stronger than others.Demon Slayer
-
Slayers are melee damage dealers who can use different variety of weapons, normally using swords, axes and spears. They wear leather, studded leather or chain armors.
-
Slayers drives easily to bloodlust in middle of the fight. This makes them stronger and do more damage, but at the same time this sacrifices something from defence (like parry).
Demon Piercer
-
Piercers are ranged damage dealers who uses mainly hand-crossbows or bows. In some special situations they can use heavier crossbows or even ballistas. They wear leather armors.
-
Piercers do not focus only to do damage. They aim for weak spots to slow down their enemies and can even shoot harpoons with ropes to pull fleeing enemies closer. They also have some camouflage skills which makes targeting them harder.
Demon Cleanser
-
Cleansers are mainly healers, but they can do some holy damage with spells as well. They wear cloth and/or leather armors.
-
Cleansers uses some debuffs as well, which especially weakens demon-kin creatures and characters.
Demon Scorcher
-
Scorchers are magic damage dealers and their main school of magic could be something, which is effective against demons. They wear cloth and/or leather armors.
-
Scorchers specialities are AoE spells.
Demon Stabber
-
Stabbers are melee damage dealers and distractors. They use mainly daggers, traps, poisons, nets and wear leather armors.
-
Stabbers are not as strong as Slayers, but they are more unpredictable. They can control the crowd with interrupting surprise attacks and hide back in shadows if needed.
Every Demon Hunter has passive ability Hate Demons. It gives them slight damage boost when fighting against demons, angels and abominations.
Demon Hunters are not usually carrying anything too heavy, because they need to move and hide fast when necessary. That is why tanks are extremely rare in their ranks and maybe does not exist at all. Sometimes we can see huge ballistas in use if Demon Hunters are after a large demonic monster.
At the end, the most important thing related for classes of this faction is, that the core is in hunting and demons. So abilities and AI should be thought from that point of view. I do not want to see just mindless nuke.
Name & Logo
Even Demon Hunters could be generally called Demon Hunters, this faction could still have official name as well. It should be somehow lore wise and suitable for theme. I was wondering something related for anti-eclipse (because eclipse is time of demons). So something related to sun, illumination, light and things like that. Maybe there is a sun in faction logo as well.. Any ideas?Options
Even this faction is meant for PvE, I do not see it impossible to expand this idea and make it possible for players to join different factions too. That is ofc a whole own topic, but could be interesting feature. Finally
I guess this is enough to give first impression what I have in my mind and I will add more information later if needed. I am also interested of opinions and ideas from other community members. Do you think there is room for faction like this? -
-
RE: Siege and Siege-engines
@Haiil I think that the level of the object determines how long there is time for preparations and how much there can be participants. There is five different levels:
-
- Hamlet
-
- Village
-
- Town
-
- City
-
- Metropolis
I am not sure if guild sizes effects to battles, because free towns have people from different guilds. And even if it would be a guild town, there must be some kind of meters how much population is needed for next level. I just presume that 30 player guild can not own and run metropolis.. at least it would not make much sense. Maybe its guilds concern to have enough members to keep control of their town if situation like that comes ahead..
I really liked your mercenary idea and I think it would suit nicely for Fractured. I am pretty sure that we are going to see mercenary guilds in this game.

RE: Offensive/Defensive Raiding Mechanics
I was thinking that those tactical points/objectives should have some kind of theme and different meaning and not just capture flag. I guess something like you mentioned or barracks, guard towers, warehouses and things like that. There could be somekind of reward (buff or debuff) when you capture a tactical objective. Medical facility may give controllers slight HP regeneration bonus just for an example. Important part is that those buffs and debuffs makes sense from objective point of view.

RE: What is called human transform for Beastman?
@Eurav said in What is called human transform for Beastman?:
@Tuoni said in What is called human transform for Beastman?:
I do not know what I was thinking yesterday.
ThatΒ΄s what I ask myself a lot of times as well,
@Eurav said in What is called human transform for Beastman?:
We see Lich as evil because that is how it is used most of the times, but it did not strike me as weird, just because they are using it differently. It is something "new" and for me a Lich is more of an undead magic caster than an evil being, so since they keep true to the first one, I donΒ΄t really care about the rest
But yeah, if we have transformation for every alignment, Lich should be evil or neutral. I think if they are considering something like this, they probably would not make a transformation for neutral (since Jacopo said in a Q&A video that he thinks this would not make sense), so in that case Lich -> evil
New stuff is something what gets me interested as well. However, as long as it makes sense to me. I generally really like Fractured's races and it is fresh to see demons and beastmen as playable races. And yeah, my problem with liches comes how I have experienced those in other games, fantasy based movies and fantasy literature. To me lich is an undead caster as well, but when talking about undead or lich, those are both evil creatures in my mind. I am pretty sure I represent the majority here, however, it does not mean I and other like minded are right. Liches are interesting concept no arguments there, I think I just need to digest this good lich a little bit more and maybe one day I can regard to it better.

RE: Game Mechanics that I encountered in a Webnovel and would like to see incorporated into MMOs (including this one)
Here is how I see what is the situation in Fractured and how I think how these points should be implemented.
Skills
Skills (or abilities) will be unlocked via exploring, adventuring and questing.Lifestyle Players
It would be nice if all aspects of the game would actually be meaningful and have a good amount of content. Too many times in MMOs, other than combat related stuff are only side activities. In Sandbox games it would be nice if all aspects of game would be important and as equal as possible. So player can be full-time crafter, farmer, merchant, gatherer and still be meaningful part of the world.Combat System
Fractured will have skill based combat with good amount of skillshots and taking advantage of the environment.Dungeons & Raids
Most of (or maybe even all) dungeons and raids will be in open world and not instanced so the ranking system won't go like you described. So most likely there won't be different ranks like easy, hard, hell.. So dungeons just have one degree of difficulty, but maybe this can be covered with implementing more floors inside the dungeon to raise the danger level.Questing
In Fractured, quests are not working like in Themepark games I presume. I know there will be tasks inside abilitites, but not sure how much there will be actual quests. I hope we will see some quests, but nothing like basic fetch, kill or collect. Long meaningful questlines with great rewards at the end would be cool. Also if the players choises could affect to environment like in Ashes of Creation, that would be really nice feature.Death
Negative impacts for stats and experience would be absolutly horrible idea. Most of players would hate this kind of system. Having full loot rules upon death will be enough penalizing trust me.PvP
This is not in line with Fractured's PvP.Player based towns
There will be a lot of this kind of possibilities.NPC based towns
I don't know what will be related to this, but.. I think there could be NPC towns for capturing or maybe a town could become NPC town if NPC faction manages to siege it (only in Arboreus because PvP conquers can not happen).
