RE: Reserve a name separately?
Name reservation is always a hot topic. Sadly, people often put it to foul uses with those they dislike as well.
I personally would not mind seeing a system where people who were already active in community prior to name reservation had priority on the name they had been active under, but I think the bigger concern has to be that sometimes people want the same name.
I personally think names need to be less an issue, and that another identifier should be in place for friends to know each other. After all, a short look around society will show just how few names in our world are unique...

RE: Game launch
The last testing phase for the moment ended a while ago, they will let us know once it is ready to run off again. If you had access and want to discuss things that were alpha related, then doing so in the Alpha forum would be ideal to my mind.
You might also find what you are looking for there without needing to ask.

RE: Foundation chests
Not a bad idea to have these as skins, for those who want them.

RE: Dang the roadmap gets me all giddy
@Gothix IP address blocks are useless, see oh so very many games that tried such things and were given the good old VPN treatment, whether over limiting accounts or geo-blocking.
As to the invasions, yes, that will solve any issues with this holding too much territory on 2 planets, on another... that might require something else.

RE: Buildable items for plots
There's point to having a mix of things like this, some of which are group focused and some of which are solo focused.
The problem on the solo side isn't just about making challenging solo encounters, but rather about how to ensure that they are done solo (no group or no drop) without also prompting every person who wants nothing more than to cause problems for people to jump in and start whacking away (aiming to prevent the drop).
There's got to be some balancing on such an idea around what makes it challenging (for example standard HP bloat where you are fighting a boss for an hour is only challenging in certain ways, and not at all in others) as well as the likely issues with people involved.

RE: Dang the roadmap gets me all giddy
I think outside the Beastmen there won't be much of an issue, because a solo town is begging to be over-run. You'd basically have to be able to politic it out, such that you weren't just a target.
Now, for the Beastmen the issue could become one of limited space, but that's something of a specific discussion and one which could be solved by simply adding an extra landmass in fairly short order.

RE: Game availability once Beta Starts??
@Jetah Yeah, but 24/7 is generally also down fairly frequently for things... it's a testing and iteration phase, after all.

RE: Game availability once Beta Starts??
Typically betas are down less, but not a consistent 24/7. They tend to be on and off in bursts that are up for longer and down for shorter times, but... unless it is an early access program they do not tend to be 24/7.
Where that is no guarantee, it is what I find likely.

RE: Areas on map
Yeah, having seen what people do with the ability to build everywhere there simply must be some limits. Plots works, although I don't consider it ideal. My own thoughts on preventing such issues was a road/path network with limited area for each person/settlement to select, but that does take a little more work. On the other hand, it offers a system that could be used to make town layouts with such paths for governing... which would help avoid the towns having a giant maze of buildings at odd angles and places.
To clarify, the road/path network would not purely be limited to a road/path, but rather be a non-build/alter area. So it is a little more flexible, such that a game might use it on a starting town and/or special locations to preclude unwelcome adjustments, then have several roads leading out all splitting down to smaller paths that remain open to all.

@Xzait Glad you opened up to join the community on a deeper level!

RE: Dang the roadmap gets me all giddy
@Belligero It had best be. Simply put, one person building a town should be a pain in the butt. I'm all for allowing those who want to spend all their time on such things to do so... but there should be absolutely no advantage to doing it alone other than being able to make all the choices.

Since nobody seems to have understood my op or hint tnx to a purple gecko i thought i would just tell you.
The SAO justice system as seen in the video lets players kill or harm other players without consequence for those who know how.
Seriously gotta understand by now.Hi @islesofurth can you (or somebody else) enlight me in what way Fractured is then considered to be like the systems used in SAO ?
Sorry, nope. This makes no sense to me at all. Not only does the example set break Fractured's design to accomplish what is being talked about, but then Fractured has multiple potential consequences that cannot be related to the other example.
As far as I can figure, it does not logically equate.

RE: ETA on developer forum?
@Kralith Aye. Agreed that ideas and such could be floated there like that. I just also see it as a potential problem for creating drama if too much is locked away, and since Specter had asked about things we wanted to see there I tried to cover what I thought would be okay!

RE: Buildable items for plots
Giving us fun creative things to do here is good, but the game needs to come first I think. Note, there are some really good ideas here. I could even see a possibility for various other things given enough time. What I don't believe will really work under the current conditions are expanded areas, unless they have a very carefully planned system for that. It's harsh on landmass if they do that too early, after all.
I could see the potential for lots of vertical levels with interaction via stairs or ladders. Which would be an interesting way to set up more room... but wouldn't work as well for the dungeons. If they do something like this after launch, though, it might be possible to start the basement through such an interaction, and then have a larger area not tied to the world above it except via that instanced access point. I see that as the most viable way for the potential for custom underground stuff that isn't just many levels of height.

RE: People who buy a founders pack today get more than yesterday
@Aurellas BTW, when I first read your capes kickstarter I thought 'real capes' as in real life. It was interesting for a bit to think about what one might wear with said capes, as they are not exactly t-shirt and jeans attire there!

RE: ETA on developer forum?
@Specter Anything extra should go on those, where it's not something that is answering questions but rather a chance to see something interesting to us. For example, if you have somebody making an asset that can be recorded, a video of that would be a great item for that forum.
I don't think you can make it too exclusive with regard to information, but for founder specific stuff maybe? So if you had thoughts on 2 slightly different looks for a founder villa, for example, and wanted to know which we liked better, that would be a good thing to go there. Meanwhile, discussing the mechanics of the game would be a disservice to trust there, because then you are giving an advantage of information away.
So my personal thoughts go, that it should be for anything related to founders exclusively alongside a few cool perks that don't detract from development.
One final possibility is that anything where you guys are stuck on ideas could ask for feedback there first, or even just brainstorming from that group. That has to be handled carefully though.
