Like Meiki said, fans were primarily used in Chinese martial arts.
The way a fan is made (layers of wedge shaped material) allows for it to be made from almost any material available.
So martial artists mainly incorporated them into their style so they had a means to deflect arrows & thrown objects.Fan's did not have a sharp point on each wedge until Chinese concubines and female assassins took a liking to it as a hidden weapon.

What's neat about Fans is that they can be folded and used to stab (it would mimic a dagger).
This would actually just be like the edge of a desk.
So it would be like your jabbing someone, except with far less force than if you were going for a blunt strike. -

Base stats not changing?I'm sure they confirmed in a video that there will in fact be ways to increase your base stats beyond the original permanently.
Using shrines or some such.Also you can always re-arrange your base stats while at a campfire.

I hope after launch such "stat" enhancing items are much harder to come by.
Probably the best thing wow did with classic was progression.There are other "stats" that everyone always forgets about on gear.
Such as armour, weight, damage, attack speed & durability. -

If online guilds do not transition into the game, then i doubt that your online profile would transition into the game either.
So something like reserving a name would actually be kind of important to some people (especially role players)
As your in game name would potentially be stolen from someone else seconds before you got to create it.As someone who does have this perk i would certainly like to know how Dynamite plans to provide the opportunity to "reserve a name".
Maybe if the community manager @Znirf ever leaves discord, we will get an answer.
Otherwise we will just have to wait till @Prometheus gets back from holiday. -

Not always no.
Your assuming that 0 stats = nothing (almost all games work with some base value)
Also each additional stat may have a falloff effect, meaning each stat is not equally as effective as the last. -

My WOW hunter had 8 of the 10 Molten Front challenge tames. For a solo player like myself, they are super hard to get.i dont understand the point
It is simple progression & devaluation of items.
Lets say you kill the local goblin leader, his bounty was 50 coin. You were able to do it after 3 days of playing tho & on first attempt.
Compare that to killing the Salamander queen worth 500 coin. Took you 1 month of playing & 2 attempts.
So why would you want to go kill the goblin leader or display his head anymore.
Maybe because it just looks cool. Or maybe you only want to display the strongest & hardest things to kill.
Everyone has their own reasons.easy content, i dont like that in a MMO.
For starters you need to remember that anything like vanity items are primarily going to be purchased from the shop due to that being how DMS keeps alive.
So if they implement something like this, they would not make it "easy content". Players would earn such trophies. -

This is most likely the reason why they have not done it yet. (they know what you guys want)
Some things they simply can't show despite everyone agreeing to an NDA.You can't expect a random group of people to do what you want them to, where the only thing you know about them is the money they payed for your product they have interest in. Especially when your asking them not to talk or share information about the one thing you are aware they have an interest in enough to pay lots of money for. Unless there is a clear & obvious risk for the random group of people to share information, why wouldn't they happily share such information.
There is however a clear & obvious risk for the developers if the wrong information does get shared.
Such as information getting shared before the development team has agreed on what it is internally. -

If this was even implemented it would have to follow the rules the devs have already set in place.As long as there are chat bars and chat programs languages are moot because how many times do you type in spatial chat at that point? Friends definitely matter...at least for me. I played SWTOR for 2 years with friends. When they all left I was the last holdout. That's because I absolutely loved the game. I stuck it out another year or so going solo. I eventually left because I just had no fun playing alone.
Aye friends are important & @Gothix did try to point out that you would either already be playing with your friends on the same planet or you would need to find a way to travel to another planet to talk to them.
So this language system for each race would only add gameplay & lore for those who want to enjoy it.
It would not take away gameplay or add difficulty to those who do not want it.Again, only if its implemented by the devs

Certainly not after they said the survival elements were only to make the exploring for fun.The posts on discord did indicate they are going to have a pretty serious taming aspect tho.
So i wouldn't be surprised if they added skins & other vanity items for your tames.
