RE: NO tank mages
@TheRippyOne
Didn't mean to be on the offense or to attack anyone. Just wrote that as a sort of joke.I guess it is all open to interpretation, at least until Devs tell us otherwise or we get to play the game itself.
Anyway, the game is still in Pre-Alhpa. Everything can change in any direction. -
RE: Allergy to various types of food.
I guess you can always role-play it even without any mechanics in-game.

RE: NO tank mages
It has been mentioned in Spotlight 4 - Skills Galore in Enchanting school of magic:
The focus of spells belonging to the school of Enchanting is to infuse elemental powers into items and creatures to create temporary or permanent magical effects.
(...)
Users of Enchanting can even apply its principles to crafting, creating powerful items able to improve the combat ability of the person holding them, which can be subsequently sold or traded.Sorry to burst your bubble.

RE: Settlements as a Solo Player
@jarek
You have to clear the whole town area from monsters to be able to settle there.
I guess this won't be an easy thing to do by yourself. Otherwise it would be pointless. -
RE: Mount Questions
@Gothix @Alduinne
Thanks for the input! That way of handling mounts in game would be really good. Add to this a possibility to breed, tame and sell mounts to other people and we have a new brand of merchants.I do hope that there will be artificial mounts on Syndesia though - steam machines, crude but working.
They could require a fuel to make them more immersive -
RE: Schools of Magic
I think Abjuration, Restoration and Invocation => Defense, Healing + Pet, Offense.

RE: Mount Questions
@gothix said in Mount Questions:
Why? Because this will be a full loot MMO where you will need to transport resources from departure point to destination, collect them while you grind and you can be looted in PvP in any time.
Well, carts don't have to be treated as mounts. Carts and like so are more of means of goods transportation. Personal mounts (which you can ride only by yourself, without any additional resources) could be summonable / unsummonable. If not for all classes then maybe for Conjurer at least
All in all, I do also hope that carts and other carriages will be permanent, but I don't have my opinion set on personal mounts. If my mount for which I cared, which I trained and fed will die, it will make me sad. And if that mount dies by the hand of any PvP ass that killed my mount without attacking me, just to ruin my day... Well, that will just make me bloody angry.

RE: Why Magic users will be OP compared to physical users
I agree with @Atoro - maybe mages won't "need" to have Perception and Dexterity, but not having them may influence them negatively. Spells not hitting their target, etc.
As to offensive / defensive of different builds, I think Mage does not have to be necessarily stronger then Warfare Warrior or Marksman. Being low on Str and Con a Mage will have a small amount of HP. Something like a glass cannon - he can hit you hard, but if you hit him, he dies quickly.

RE: The Lich vs. the Angel and Abomination
@Dulu said in The Lich vs. the Angel and Abomination:
Morality is objective. It takes religion to force people to make certain things that are immoral seem moral.
I wouldn't put it all on religion. More on socially accepted behaviour in a group of people we currently reside.
If you are raised by cannibals, then you won't see anything bad in eating humans. This is not religion.
As @Gothix stated above - I agree. Even now there are different moral standards in different countries. For example in Europe and US a research and experimentation on stem cells or dead fetuses is frowned upon, but in China such research is additionally funded by their government.@dulu said in The Lich vs. the Angel and Abomination:
@dybuk I think there needs to be another option for Humans "turning evil", and Lich doesn't fit.
Why not? For me Lich is an undead creature, that usually dabbles in some dark arts and I would not perceive him/her as a boy- /girl- scout. In my opinion Liches are evil But maybe you are right - Liches are too genre specific. It would be hard to imagine a Lich using Restoration school of magic.
"Forsaken", "Damned", "Sinner" - there is a lot of names that can be used -
RE: NO tank mages
@jarek
Well, yes, but the thing is - to there is no specific classes here and in my opinion to every build you can create an anti-build. If a Mage Tank will become popular, then people will try to re-spec to Mage Killer (Assasination + Illusion + Abjugation for example). And remember - it is easy to change your talents and skills, so you can always adapt to situation.@TheRippyOne - Yes, but there are some schools that allow perma-boost - like Enchanting and infusing elemental powers to items. But I agree, there is no way to benefit from all of the schools at the same time, even if we unlock them all.
@grofire - Well, taking too many schools into your build can botch it, but it won't harm you to try it out. If such a build will suit you and you are able to use it effectively, than there will be no harm in using it. Even if all other people will not be able to use it as well as you. If it does not, you can change it in resting phase.
I think I will try out different configurations and different builds until I find out what suits me and is fun to play for me. -
RE: Necromancy skills
In Feature #4: Skill Galore it was mentioned that Restoration allows to bring in-animate objects to life:
"or even infuse it into constructs and other inanimate objects – without the corruption created by Necromantic spells."
I'm not sure if your own Restoration magic will harm your own Necrotic thralls, but if so, you would only have to be more carefull which spells you cast on which creature.
-
RE: NO tank mages
It depends on your definition of Mage - do you think about Invocation school (elemental powers)?
I can easily imagine a Warrior that dabbles in Restoration and Enhancing school. This will give him possibility to buff himself and infuse his armor and weapons with elemental power before the fight and then dish out melee damage during the fight.

RE: Necromancy skills
@kellewic said in Necromancy skills:
@dybuk conjuration as well - summon items and creatures from faraway locations – or even parallel dimensions! – to be used to its own advantage.
I wonder if combining Necromancy + Restoration + Conjuration will allow you to have more of thralls

RE: The Lich vs. the Angel and Abomination
I think that Lich should be similar to Angel and Abomination. Do not look at the skills - those are driven by schools of magic/combat you use.
I would see it like this:
Demon turned good -> Angel (Demon that lives on the beast planet - Arobreus)
Beast turned bad -> Abomination (Beast that lives on the demon planet - Tartaros)
Human turned bad -> Lich (Human that lives on the demon planet - Tartaros)
Human turned good -> Saint/Druid (Human that lives on the beast planet - Arobreus) -
RE: Necromancy skills
@tulukaruk said in Necromancy skills:
As I said necromancy will require a body to re-animate. So multiple necromancers won't necessary work well as they will be fighting for dead corpses
That is not necessarily true since anything that dies from that group of necromancers can be turned to yet another undead. The more (or longer) they fight, the bigger their army can get.
-
RE: Necromancy skills
Remember that not only Necromancer can have thralls. School of Restoration allows to animate objects - I'm planning to create a Mecha and animate it to live

RE: Solo Player
@endmyon
From what I understand, there is no specific class for soloers. Especially since there are no classes at all.
I think a lot of builds can be used in playing solo, you just have to choose what is right for you and fits your play style.
I'm never able to tell what is better for soloing - a melee with high defence, a speedy ranger that can kite anything, or maybe a healer with restoration magic. -
RE: Witam :)

Ja pierwszego stworzę człowieka, a później w zależności - jeżeli w PvP będzie brakowało balanus, to Bestię, a jeżeli pokocham PvP, to się zastanowię nad Demonem.
