@Pwnstar We will never know what will happen with Fractured in 2 years. I see the potential in their idea and the first steps into the creation. If they can exactly give us that, what they wanted with their idea, then i am sure, many copies will be possible for this game too.
-
Yes, as @Kralith wrote, possible are many many Shrooffie customers.. err I mean copies of game sold.
Yes, that's what I meant.
-
I think it's perfectly fair to voice skepticism and raise concerns. Ever since I left Albion Online, I've been prowling around for a good sandbox MMO and Legends of Aria is one I strongly considered.
Their premises may be similar, but LoA is reportedly in development hell, whereas Fractured seems to be chugging along. (But it's possible for the project to go belly-up, I suppose...)
The city/guild management in Fractured will apparently be much more nuanced, though.
-
@Alexian surely it is fair to be skeptic, but if you point out things, just because other ganes failed, i think you should validate the facts that was throwing in.
-
Agreed. Keshanberk made claims but didn't back them up.

Yes, thats something i wonder about too.
Why @keshanberk don't go with us into a conversation, after creating the topic?
It looks a bit like he just wanted to say something, but was never interested in a real conversation.
I can be suspicious about something, but if i am then i should hear the voices and substantiate my doubts.

@Kralith
Hello,
I don't have access to the Unity assets/client, but I can simply show you some obvious similarities from what was publicly shown in trailers/pictures. However, what you also need to understand is that it's easy to replace or edit 3d models, assets, textures. It shouldn't matter much that the company is showcasing outsourced items. What matters is that they're trying to build an MMO off of a small team -- while charging immense prices through Kickstarter. Here you go:
https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/characters/humanoids/goblin-13891
https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/characters/animals/boar-4987
Both assets are sold by the same individual.
I, personally, will not pay to Alpha or Beta test this game. Not that the game can't be successful, but because the odds are severely against this team.
edit: to those who said "he didn't back up his claims" -- you deserve to lose your money. maybe you should open the Unity development kit and test the out of the box templates provided.
-
YOU made a claim, YOU didnt back it up with multiple examples in the first post. Personally i'm not mad at all. If it's cheaper to buy the assets than to create them then buy them. How many ways can you create a wolf, bear, deer, rabbit, etc. You'd be spending a weekly salary for someone, which is probably in the 200-500/wk or buy it already complete for 14$.
even this is a whole city for 50$. there's no way you can hire people to do that cheaper.
15$ or less for the cheapest package isn't exactly "immense prices through KS". ok so KS was 20$ minimum for the game but their sale is cheaper.
I believe this game will do much better than the one you mentioned.
-
You're right. You can also rent multiple decent servers for the price of the highest Kickstarter package ($5,000 usd). Doesn't mean the 7~10 people working on this game will achieve the scope or hype you're being promised.
-
@keshanberk Those are screenshots from the very first gameplay video. Much of that art is outdated. The goblins for example look like this now.
-
@Specter
it's nice that you had to wait until I provided evidence to state "yes, we outsourced assets" -- instead of just admitting it from the start. using the players to defend the game instead of being transparent.I must be wrong on my initial assumptions.
-
@keshanberk I never stated outsourced assets were used.
-
Honestly, I don't care who made the assets, as long as the game looks good and is fun to play.

so if you think this game wont do well , and you think they are just buying assets , and if you think that unity is a bad engine that causes 3d assets to lag.
why are you here?
and to disprove your asset theory

(protos spider)they are different - different eye locations different color , different amount of leg joints , different pattern on the back... why would they not just buy this spider as its so similar (and would fit in fractured)
Answer: because they have a artist making there own assets
-
they're not using me. the company can fight its own battles. i supported them and feel they'll do a great job, whether it's using existing models or create their own.
the concept of Fracture has me here, not the graphics.

Are you going to rephrase that? It's factually wrong. Just because you could spend $5,000 doesn't mean you will. Why not just buy the $30 package? Lots of Kickstarters do this, why are you suddenly aghast at this one?
And I wasn't asking you to back up your Unity assets claim. I already know about that. I was asking you to back up your claim of "Unity is a lackluster game engine".
-
@keshanberk i not really get, whats the point about the assets. They never stated, they made the assets in the promo video all by themself.
Show me a single game thats in its early Pre Alpha State full loaded with own assets, most of them just show arragend Scenes with a tons of placeholder. And to go further, we saw the progress of their assets during the Pre-Alpha and the both Alpha 1 Test Phases. They doing well.
May i also ask you, as some before me, why you are here?
Did you ever took a deeper look into their idea of gameplay? That’s because we are here and support this small young Studio.
-
I'm trying to imagine, in a world full of things to do with our tiny amount of time, why a person would go to the trouble of registering for the forum of a game they had no interest in playing, just to dismiss its potential.
Nope... can't imagine why. Frankly and totally puzzled.
-
I would like to point out, importantly, that players are not paying for the alpha or beta - they are paying to support the game, and because of their willingness to take a risk, are given access to early testing phases. However, alpha and beta keys aren't dependent on paying for them - they are a matter of how many people are needed to test during a certain phase. If the developers need more players, which has been the case, keys will be given away. The business model isn't to sell alpha or beta keys, it's to allow early supporters to gain additional access and benefits.
