Some progress probably got wiped like any other games. Personally I want to see players play the official release already jacked up with skills and equipment.

Maybe I'm mistaken but I haven't seen a single MMO that didn't wipe player progress from Alpha, and it let people start on release with already jacked up characters.
Most I've seen is a MMO not wiping progress from open beta. But since open beta was free for all to join, I guess that's cool.
