Whats your favorite character Class to play on your first Character
-
Mine is any Ranger/Archer class - Love to take it a little slower when learning the game and have the range, once i feel comfortable with the game ill expand out with other Classes
-
I'll play something seedy surely, that will enjoy thievery and assassination. Now that being said my primary goal will be running a player city so if there is something that benefits me in that regard, I'm in.
-
I think I'll go for an assassin ^^ I pretty like assassins in general, so I'll test
-
A big tank
-
Mage/support. Ill enjoy nuking from the back of my group and giving them some buffs every so often

I'm curious if archers will have access to various magical arrows that still depend on dexterity rather then intellect.
It was said do not try to shoot rock monster with your arrows (immunities, weaknesses), but if archer can not use his arrows, what is he supposed to do? Use magic? Cool, but archer buffed up his DEX on player creation not his INT, so if there are no magical arrows based on DEX archer will be disadvantaged.
On the other hand, a mage has various spells to use, fire, ice, water,... and all spells are based on INT, so whichever spell he uses for different type of mob, he is always on full power. Will there be mobs immune to all magic so mage is forced to use the sword to hit them? I guess that could be implemented to balance things up.
Need more such info before I can really decide on what char i prefer to play.
(but I aim towards constant DD, so mage / archer / warrior -- rogue no, I'm too impatient to stand around in stealth and wait for opportunity)

This is actually one of my biggest concerns. If I am a DEX/PER archer, and I face a rock monster that's practically immune to arrows, what am I going to do? I don't have the strength to start pummeling it with hammers and I don't have the int to start shooting it with whatever spell works well against a rock monster. Am I just screwed?

... leave and fight something else?? This is how literally every single MMO works, which is why different classes have different grinding spots and why parties exist.
If you want a personal fantasy game where your character becomes a big hero and slays absolutely everything all by himself, play Elder Scrolls.

Except you NEED to fight most (if not all) monsters to fill up your bestiary, learn knowledge, gain resources,...
I guess you could ask friends (from different classes) to help out. But devs said that EVERY SINGLE knowledge point will be able to be unlocked as a solo player. And if there is a mob that's impossible to kill for you (due to mobs immunities to your class spells, and you not having stats from other class spells to effectively use those spells), that means there are some knowledge (skills) that you will not be able to unlock solo.
Which is again fine by me, I will be playing inside a guild.
I'm just discussing this from a stand points presented by the devs.

[...[t devs said that EVERY SINGLE knowledge point will be able to be unlocked as a solo player.
And you can.
Changing your skills to fight different enemies is still playing solo.

Yes if you made char with balanced attribute points, but what if you made a char with max DEX/PER and placed 0 to INT? Or placed so little to INT that your magic doesn't really hurt the mob, and he keeps destroying you.

Then you intentionally made a terrible build and blamed the game for your incompetence.

Devs said "every knowledge point is possible to get solo"... they did not say "every knowledge point is possible to get solo IF you made your character with balanced attributes".
(Also, devs value this system where a players can make different, unique characters, with broad variations on attribute allocation, so all players can feel (and be) different. They would not go and punish certain character builds to not be able to unlock points, specially since attribute allocation is PERMANENT)

The devs also didn't say you need a computer to play the game, that you shouldn't stick your fingers in the power outlet, and all sorts of other things that any idiot would already implicitly know.
The solution is: Don't make a specialized character build (i.e. a party build) and try to play solo.

I guess, there is just no discussion with some people. You are a prime example and prove that point...

Or you can actually address any of the points I've made that effectively destroy your standpoint, but I know you too well to think you will.

So you're going to run a 15/15/15/15/15/15 build then?

I have?

Logical fallacy: False dichotomy
Argue against the point I actually made, please. (Not that it matters, since it won't affect the content of the game any.)

I'll be trying out a mix of melee and illlusion first.

Fibs is by far the most toxic person on the forum. He's on my list of people to keep an eye out for when the game launches
