Best mmo features

but to also buy from that region since rare+ would be harder to find.

When combined with local markets, northern iron would be cheaper in the north and more expensive in the south - and vice versa for southern iron.

Players then could become traders, by building some mule cart or something and transporting goods north to south.

Yeah~ the reason i said with quality is because a lot of players would likely just mine out the ore themselves ignoring the markets without it. mining is not a really hard job after all. and as a smith. you likely will do some mining yourself.

I think it's pretty much confirmed that not all zones will have the same resources. Devs stated that a certain armor needs resources from different planets.
I think it's also confirmed that there will be different metals (or possible metal rarities, can't remember exactly) in the game, which will also affect the colour of your metal items.

  • Lockpicking in UO the chests of the dungeons with timers was pretty hardcore 🐷

Variety of resources will indeed positively affect economy in game, enrich trading and exploration part as well as pvp aspect of the game.

So the greater variety and uniqueness to specific zones, the better.

This is valid for enchanting and other materials as well.. 🙂 ..house building and anything you can think of.

Perhaps if we extend those ideas even more... a sword used in particular biome (while crafted from mats comimg out of this biome) could lose durability slower there because it fits the surrounding conditions, while losing durability faster in "foreign" biome.

All this would be interesting to see, its just the question at which point investment of develoent resources becomes too great to be used. 🙂

@maze Indeed. Rewards are nice, but I think what I really want is something like this. Something that is fun to do just to do it, not because I have to due to it providing the best rewards for my skill/gear setup.

I am cheering all the points you made.
Excellent summary and i am agreeing all points in it's whole.

@Kesef ohhh... i wonder if we know us in Boundless 😉

I wonder if investing in town technological and agricultural upgrades (perhaps aome special buildings) will affect resource spawn rate in towns zone of inflience.

Or if anything similar will be possible.

Perhaps investment in fishing center could cause more fish or better quality fish to appear in nearby lake.

But only creating the building shouldnt be enough. Residents should perform activities available through this building to maintain existance of better fish in the area.

Yeah I like that, would like it if mass killing goblins or any other mob in say the goblin caves, would slow down the spawns of that mob but increase the spawn rates of say rabbits and wolfs (if goblins hunt those things )

  • If you know Ashes of Creations (I won't say I feel scammed by their kickstarter, but it's not far from truth). Well, one of their promise was that nodes and the environment around them would evolve with the player development in that area. In the same light, if the player development in that area ceases, they would degrade. I don't know how good gameplay-wise this feature would be, but overall I'd say it's a neat idea.

@Razvan ...SO ASHES OF S****!! had some really interesting ideas for an mmo and I to didn't feel at all scammed /s

the node system was interesting. but I'm not sure how well it would work. It almost like if X amount of death happen in a region the mobs would become shitter and you would have to go far out to find something good. but then everyone else would go there...so you would always be moving non-stop. it just seems to complicated and random to manage.

  • @maze The last time I was interested in the game, it wasn't exactly how you describe it: each zone is very diverse in mob difficulty (level), but the higher the node, the higher the mobs level cap (and better bosses).

  • I loved Albion Online, the best Market system period. You can play the game without fighting a single player. Crafting system, you can craft any gear.
so put it together, you travel around gathering items, you craft them on your island or in the market and sell them in an auction house.
and every item in-game is crafted by some players.
so, in my opinion, the game is fun, especially if sandbox MMO must have a good market and crafting system.

  • @DevilsDog The problem with Albion's crafting is that it revolves around focus points and resource return rate. Thanks to this, crafting is only profitable if you are high spec, premium (for focus) and craft in a town (or BZ town, but not your island). If they remove the focus points (=the need of having premium on a lot of characters), they pretty much kill specialised crafters.

I'm not saying Albion is bad, but I hope Fractured will come with a way of having specialised crafters without making it super grindy (in most games you have to invest some money to get your crafting to a decent level before you start turning a profit), and without premium being mandatory.
