Right, tier was really a generic term. But a weapon with +1 int is inherently worse than the same base with +2 int. Right? Maybe it will be negligible, but once again... we'll have to see. And that's where I think it differs from SC. In SC equipment really matters.That's not how itemization works in Fractured. It's horizontal, not tiered.

@specter
Call me skeptical. Every single game that has attributes tied to weapons, there's an inherently "better' build for your intended goal. Need a news document on itemization I guess

@pluto Who said there are attributes on gear? Attributes are something you set on character creation. In addition to that, you can get a few more attribute points through talents and a few others sources.

@specter
Hmm, I suppose that was an assumption. Would be pretty weird for a wood sword to function the same as a metal sword.
-
@pluto Attributes are a specific subset of stats. Gear will likely have different stats, they just won't have attributes.

We could assume a metal sword not break like a wooden sword after some strike so no need to repair it often. We could assume also than a wooden sword have a better contunding effect than a metal sword and a metal sword would be more lethal than a blunt wooden sword. No need to add some character attribute on it... Let be patient to more info on item ^^

@pluto Items have stats, but not attributes. No piece of gear is strictly better than an other piece of gear, it's just their stat allocation that's different. A bit like Guild Wars 2 but without the rarity tiers.

True, I suppose my terminology was extremely poor haha. Specs are really what I was going for, I didn't mean to tie gear into player attributes.Just like a civilian component doesn't hit as hard as a military component in SC, I imagine a wood component won't hit as hard as metal in Fractured. It remains to be seen how prevalent this is... but that's really what I was going for

The whole gear and ability system just sounds so much better then what other games have had. I know I've said that countless times already, but yeah. That's the main thing I'm looking forward to from this game. The rest is extra ontop of that fun sounding system.

I'm hoping for an open and expanse world area that is different and explorative and that has areas where only challengers of deep might can go. I like places that always remain a mystery because they are always more dangerous than most people can handle. It allows the mystery to permeate and give rise to great victors and deep forethought.
